“Quick takeout of Wonton Soup and Kung Pao Chicken. Wontons were fresh and the soup base was clean and tasty. The Kung Pao Chicken was a nice sliced chicken and the sauce had a good consistency and level of spice. Brown rice seemed fresh as well. Service is quick, parking right in front. Cash only.“

“We were staying at the Tarrytown house estate and decided to visit Goosefeather for dinner, not having any idea about the restaurant other than that it was located on-site. As Chinese-style martial artists, we were pleasantly surprised to see the Cantonese -fusion menu options as we walked in. Unfortunately, we did not have reservations, but we were able to sit at the bar. What an auspicious turn of luck! The bar offers not only the full menu, but the chance to watch professionals at their craft. We were taken care of by Mariana and Sara, who were busy yet still highly attentive. They were very knowledgeable about the menu, and explained everything even before our questions had a habce to leave our lips. We started with some standard drinks (a spicy martini, and one of their mocktails with Ron Zacapa rum added in). Solid pours, balancing the flavors of the drinks with adequate alcohol to keep things fun). Next week ordered the spicy rice cakes and the potstickers. Each was perfectly done. The potstickers were crispy but not burnt, and paired with a just-right spicy Chinese mustard. There were four per serving, which served to whet out appetites while leaving us waiting for more. Next, we got the spicy rice cakes. These were just hot enough to let the tongue know, but the spice built pleasantly. The plate was pretty big, and the two of us had more than one or two helpings each. Finally, we had the Crying Tiger Tuna. The lightly seared and seasoned tuna was paired with avocado salad, pickled gooseberries, and sweet goji berries. Delicious! To cap it off, we switched up our drinks for two of their signature cocktails. Sweet emotion is a pumpkin espresso martini with a smoky bubble of deliciousness in top. Love in an Elevator is a wild rum ride of flavors I'd never think to blend, such as apricot, chocolate, and lemon. Overall, while pricey, the experience, the food, and the atmosphere made it worth it! As a bonus, we were watched over by a really cool portrait of Bruce Lee!“

I took home their sesame tofu with white rice. Takeout is carefully packaged and prepared with the diner in mind. (A much appreciated upgrade from typical restaurants that just throw your dish in a container and toss it in a bag for you.) “I ordered shrimp with broccoli from East Bamboo Chinese Restaurant and was very disappointed. The broccoli and sauce were very bland, and the shrimp tasted bad and seemed spoiled. I called the restaurant to let them know, but they told me the chef said the shrimp was fresh. Unfortunately, based on the taste, that was not my experience at all. Overall, the food quality was poor, and I would not order from them again.“

I ordered "Roast Pork with Chinese vegetables" I specifically asked if the vegetables included bok choy and was assured that it did. When I got home with the food the only vegetable included with the Pork was celery. Just a container of pork and celery, another time I ordered BBQ Ribs and it was a very small order and some of them were burned. When I questioned the counter person he answered that they had run out. Then why did they sell, and charge me an order? Don't order food from this place, If you want to enjoy it, it is BAD and they.“

My wife, who usually gets headaches when MSG is used, had no issues here, which says a lot. “I have not found many Chinese restaurants beyond Chinatown that's considered close to being called good until I tried this one. I only ever ordered delivery because my brother is living at a Senior Rehabilitation center on W190 st. I was surprised to find the Chicken and Broccoli not drenched in oil or overcooked! It's not salty or full of MSG like other typical Take outs. Everything I ordered showed a true experienced cook. No lumpy gelatinous "gravy" although I always make it a point to ask for little gravy and they actually followed my request! I don't ever judge a Chinese restaurant by its decor. Some of the BEST ethnic foods I've had, we less than inviting. I get why they do not bother w the "atmosphere" but focused on good food. I get that it would be nice to be able to enjoy going there if you are a long time patron but I used to love a place called Peking Duck in Chinatown until they moved to a new space and changed to an upscale look and soon the food was not at all the same. Perhaps the chef left but I still missed the dishes they used to make to perfection. So don't fix what's not broken. If this is the only Chinese restaurant near you count your lucky stars bc they do authentic Chinese cooking.“
