“We were staying at the Tarrytown house estate and decided to visit Goosefeather for dinner, not having any idea about the restaurant other than that it was located on-site. As Chinese-style martial artists, we were pleasantly surprised to see the Cantonese -fusion menu options as we walked in. Unfortunately, we did not have reservations, but we were able to sit at the bar. What an auspicious turn of luck! The bar offers not only the full menu, but the chance to watch professionals at their craft. We were taken care of by Mariana and Sara, who were busy yet still highly attentive. They were very knowledgeable about the menu, and explained everything even before our questions had a habce to leave our lips. We started with some standard drinks (a spicy martini, and one of their mocktails with Ron Zacapa rum added in). Solid pours, balancing the flavors of the drinks with adequate alcohol to keep things fun). Next week ordered the spicy rice cakes and the potstickers. Each was perfectly done. The potstickers were crispy but not burnt, and paired with a just-right spicy Chinese mustard. There were four per serving, which served to whet out appetites while leaving us waiting for more. Next, we got the spicy rice cakes. These were just hot enough to let the tongue know, but the spice built pleasantly. The plate was pretty big, and the two of us had more than one or two helpings each. Finally, we had the Crying Tiger Tuna. The lightly seared and seasoned tuna was paired with avocado salad, pickled gooseberries, and sweet goji berries. Delicious! To cap it off, we switched up our drinks for two of their signature cocktails. Sweet emotion is a pumpkin espresso martini with a smoky bubble of deliciousness in top. Love in an Elevator is a wild rum ride of flavors I'd never think to blend, such as apricot, chocolate, and lemon. Overall, while pricey, the experience, the food, and the atmosphere made it worth it! As a bonus, we were watched over by a really cool portrait of Bruce Lee!“

“Parking comps for upstairs for 3hrs. The sauce bar is good, the snacks are interesting and the pots can be 1,2, or 3 styles of soup base. Good pricing and only issue is seating is for 4 or 6; one table of 8 available. So big parties may need to split up a bit. Definitely a fan of the snacks, good service, and they gave a little toy to the kids, too!

Broth has gotten better in 2026, but service a bit less and they are less busy. They had to add an all-you-can-eat option on M-Thu (Fri before 5p) and while that is good, overall they are struggling a bit to keep the same foot traffic as before. A bit of a bummer as they do have a good selection and are convenient.“

“Malamini is my go-to comfort food spot near home. Whenever I don’t know what to eat, I end up getting their malatang. The sesame sauce is especially good and really makes the bowl. Their ice cream is also surprisingly great. Simple, satisfying, and always hits the spot.“

Everything we ordered was delicious, but one of my favorites—unfortunately I forgot to take a picture—was the mixed vegetables. They tasted incredibly fresh with a subtle balance of sweetness and tangy citrus. It was the perfect palate cleanser and made me want to keep eating more skewers 😆

“Best chinese takeout around!Been coming here since I was a little kid (over 25 years). Food is good, portions are big. Your beef or chicken with broccoli actually comes with sizable amounts of beef/chicken. Other places just load up on broccoli to keep their profits. You can't go wrong!“

Insanely enough, we’ve even tried the Italian (yes, I said Italian) food on the menu and that was pretty good as well! It’s a crazy combo, but it works. Their hot and sour soup, is def one of the better ones I’ve had. All the their dishes are loaded with ingredients. The portions are not skimpy, prices are very reasonable for what you get. All ready when they tell you it will be, and given to you without any “attitude”. Give them a try….i doubt you’ll be disappointed.“

“I remember when Szechuan City first opened how exciting it was to have some new Chinese food in the area. New owners, new ideas, new recipes...all great...for a while at least. After a short time they started to dip down in the consistency of the food...So we stopped ordering from them for quite some time. A little while ago we tried ordering again because we had some workers over helping out in the yard and they chose Chinese as the flavor profile for lunch. “Extremely delicious and authentic Chinese food. As a white person who grew up in Fuzhou, China, this place instantly reminded me of my hometown. The flavors dance on my tongue like a beautiful ballet and my mouth is enveloped in heavenly textures. I seriously recommend this to EVERYONE. As someone who is currently living in Flushing, Queens, I drive to here every week with my wife and two kids. One time my kid didn't like the water the restaurant served, so of course I had to use the kung fu I learned to discipline them. Anyhow, this has to be the best restaurant on Earth. “We are seriously SO impressed with Essex Chinese Kitchen. The food is amazing — everything tasted incredibly fresh, flavorful, and high quality. And on top of that, the prices are very reasonable for the portions you get.

We ordered the bubble teas (brown sugar milk tea and original milk tea), and they were SO good — perfectly balanced with that floral black tea flavor coming through. Not overly sweet, just smooth and refreshing.

I got the golden fried brown shrimp with fried rice and it was FIRE. Crispy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. My boyfriend ordered the chicken and broccoli, and they absolutely do NOT skimp on portions. The serving sizes were generous and so satisfying.

The staff were also super friendly and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better.

“Arguably the best mala dishes served in palisades park area. I wish they had more varieties / selection of ingredients for mala drypot or soup. But they have everything that you really need. Plus they got beef and lamb skewers which are well cooked and prepared.

“This place is a gem! My husband has been coming here since he’s been a kid. We were in the area and decided to stop in and eat. They were very pleasant and friendly on the phone when I called to place the order. The owner immediately recognized my husband once we arrived and was very welcoming. I stopped eating just to write how much I love this spot. I order almost once a week. The food never disappoints and I believe they truly deserve 5 stars. They have wonderful customer service, always pleasant when I call, speedy delivery, and quality food (and packaging) There is no other chinese food in bergen country i’ve found that I can say has all of these qualities about them. Tonight I ordered sweet and sour chicken with chicken lo mein. The lo mein is so good I would give it a 9/10. The sweet and sour chicken is my favorite. 10/10. Highly recommend if you want quick delivery and great chinese food.“

“Ordered take out. Was looking for a great tasting sesame chicken made with white meat. Saw the reviews online and took a chance because so far the Asian restaurants I’ve been to do not make DELICIOUS sesame chicken. This place did not let me down. The sesame chicken was so delicious! I was so happy! This is, now, my go to place for sesame chicken. I didn’t like the dumplings. They were very doughy and chewy. No good. Next time I’ll order the Gyoza. Maybe that’s not doughy. I’ll try the fried rice too and see how that goes. But for sure I’ll be coming back!“
