“I’ve been coming here from when I used to go to Tenafly Middle school. This place was my go to for after school snack.
Price is still amazing for lunch deals around $8~$12, portions are generous, and ultimately foods are great.
It’s been more than 10 years but I’ll still come to Tenafly just for Good Taste general chicken tsp combo.

“Authetic korean restaurant serving some good Tang Soo Yook! Very nicely fried and portion is generous! we also tried their seafood jjampong and it was good. I bet the heat is even perfect during colder weathers! I would love to come back and try their jajang. so hopefully soon.

Inside was clean and spacious and service was very good. We were asked if we wanted tea or water which I appreciated. we also had some fried pork left which we got to go and the staff gave us extra sauce! we felt so welcomed.“

“Small gem in Sugar Hill. Noodles were tasty and got the perfect mouth feel. Buddha dumplings were great. The shop is small but it does have an outside area as well. Recommend to do the online order so you can pop in and out and not wait because everything is freshly done.“

The service is quick and efficient, and I appreciated them checking with us. They were nice about any questions we asked and the atmosphere was really nice and cozy. Definitely recommend.“

“We were staying at the Tarrytown house estate and decided to visit Goosefeather for dinner, not having any idea about the restaurant other than that it was located on-site. As Chinese-style martial artists, we were pleasantly surprised to see the Cantonese -fusion menu options as we walked in. Unfortunately, we did not have reservations, but we were able to sit at the bar. What an auspicious turn of luck! The bar offers not only the full menu, but the chance to watch professionals at their craft. We were taken care of by Mariana and Sara, who were busy yet still highly attentive. They were very knowledgeable about the menu, and explained everything even before our questions had a habce to leave our lips. We started with some standard drinks (a spicy martini, and one of their mocktails with Ron Zacapa rum added in). Solid pours, balancing the flavors of the drinks with adequate alcohol to keep things fun). Next week ordered the spicy rice cakes and the potstickers. Each was perfectly done. The potstickers were crispy but not burnt, and paired with a just-right spicy Chinese mustard. There were four per serving, which served to whet out appetites while leaving us waiting for more. Next, we got the spicy rice cakes. These were just hot enough to let the tongue know, but the spice built pleasantly. The plate was pretty big, and the two of us had more than one or two helpings each. Finally, we had the Crying Tiger Tuna. The lightly seared and seasoned tuna was paired with avocado salad, pickled gooseberries, and sweet goji berries. Delicious! To cap it off, we switched up our drinks for two of their signature cocktails. Sweet emotion is a pumpkin espresso martini with a smoky bubble of deliciousness in top. Love in an Elevator is a wild rum ride of flavors I'd never think to blend, such as apricot, chocolate, and lemon. Overall, while pricey, the experience, the food, and the atmosphere made it worth it! As a bonus, we were watched over by a really cool portrait of Bruce Lee!“

“Great food and great service. The food reminds me of home and is reasonably priced. We keep coming back for the ox tail stew, ribs, beef steak, porkchops, dumplings and the boneless chicharonnes de pollo. Most meals are served with white or yellow rice and beans or vegetables. If you want to try something different, they have the beef liver and squid ink fried rice which remind me of squid ink Paella. The combination meals are a great option to try out different dishes. The staff and owners always greet you with a warm welcome.“

Overall, the portion sizes and food quality are excellent for the price. The meals are satisfying, and I feel it offers great value compared to many other options in the area.

“Parking comps for upstairs for 3hrs. The sauce bar is good, the snacks are interesting and the pots can be 1,2, or 3 styles of soup base. Good pricing and only issue is seating is for 4 or 6; one table of 8 available. So big parties may need to split up a bit. Definitely a fan of the snacks, good service, and they gave a little toy to the kids, too!

Broth has gotten better in 2026, but service a bit less and they are less busy. They had to add an all-you-can-eat option on M-Thu (Fri before 5p) and while that is good, overall they are struggling a bit to keep the same foot traffic as before. A bit of a bummer as they do have a good selection and are convenient.“

“Have taken out quite a few orders from this small local place, and I have to say; it’s better than any place else in the area. Insanely enough, we’ve even tried the Italian (yes, I said Italian) food on the menu and that was pretty good as well! It’s a crazy combo, but it works. Their hot and sour soup, is def one of the better ones I’ve had. All the their dishes are loaded with ingredients. The portions are not skimpy, prices are very reasonable for what you get. All ready when they tell you it will be, and given to you without any “attitude”. Give them a try….i doubt you’ll be disappointed.“

“I remember when Szechuan City first opened how exciting it was to have some new Chinese food in the area. New owners, new ideas, new recipes...all great...for a while at least. After a short time they started to dip down in the consistency of the food...So we stopped ordering from them for quite some time. I’ve had the steak with tostones, their chicharrón de pollo & many other delectable dishes. They also have a nice bar & make excellent Pisco sours which I can’t find in too many places! I live in Rockland County & the hubby & I take the trip about monthly just to eat here! Nothing fancy about the restaurant but definitely good eats! Highly recommend! “Extremely delicious and authentic Chinese food. As a white person who grew up in Fuzhou, China, this place instantly reminded me of my hometown. The flavors dance on my tongue like a beautiful ballet and my mouth is enveloped in heavenly textures. I seriously recommend this to EVERYONE. As someone who is currently living in Flushing, Queens, I drive to here every week with my wife and two kids. One time my kid didn't like the water the restaurant served, so of course I had to use the kung fu I learned to discipline them. Anyhow, this has to be the best restaurant on Earth. Give this restaurant a try and you won't regret it.“

“We are seriously SO impressed with Essex Chinese Kitchen. The food is amazing — everything tasted incredibly fresh, flavorful, and high quality. And on top of that, the prices are very reasonable for the portions you get.

We ordered the bubble teas (brown sugar milk tea and original milk tea), and they were SO good — perfectly balanced with that floral black tea flavor coming through. Not overly sweet, just smooth and refreshing.

I got the golden fried brown shrimp with fried rice and it was FIRE. Crispy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. My boyfriend ordered the chicken and broccoli, and they absolutely do NOT skimp on portions. The serving sizes were generous and so satisfying.

The staff were also super friendly and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better.
