“First review of 2024, and we could not think of a better restaurant to review! @buleriataberna has officially become one of our favorites. Every single bite bursts with flavor! • 🥝 Kiwi Mojito 🍲 Calldo Gallego 🐑 Lamb Skewers 🦞 Tres Colas 🦐 Empanadas 🥩 Angus Beef Croquettes 🥩 Churrasco Bravo • I wish we had room for more because every single item was great and the deserts looked amazing, we just physically could not eat anymore! 😂 The vibes were great. Service spectacular! Food amazing. We can’t wait to go back for happy hour and the night life, will do another review of course 😉 - We did get a small dessert which was the Sherry Port. “The food was amazingly delicious tasty and fresh. The steak with the sauce on the side and the pastelitos were delicious. Chicharron de pollo tasted super fresh and tasty. The tres Leche was delicious as well. However, I didn’t give it 5/5 because it be perfect and it wasn’t. “very cute vibe and super kind waitstaff!! however if you have a bigger body at all, prepare to feel absolutely cramped. upon entering you literally have to squeeze behind everyone seated at the bar. its about a foot of space! then on the other side of the restaurant, the tables are packed so tightly together you will literally be touching legs with the folks next to you. and to make matters worse, theres one long booth for all the tables and its packed full with pillows! so now the pillows are occupying the already tight space to sit. i know restaurants in this city have to make the most of their square footage, but this one felt particularly compacted.“

“I like how it's a diner with counter and booths, the food is good, prices reasonable, always clean. I did take off a star because their personalities could be friendlier, no one says good morning or afternoon, hardly ANYONE smiles, there's no greeting you which would be nice to be acknowledged when you are there.“

“We recently held a dinner at Olar for my 40th Birthday in their private room downstairs. Katie was a pleasure to work with and made planning the event so easy. Olar gave us several different food and beverage packages to choose from that worked best for our party. On the night of the event, Katie and her team were amazing! The food was delicious and the private room was a perfect setup.

There is only one truly Spanish - Spanish-owned and Spanish-prepared restaurant in Westchester. Anyone who is Spanish or has lived in Spain knows this.

Tentempie Madrid in Mamaroneck. 🫒

It is strictly a tapas place. Not a tapas bar, because there is no bar seating. They asked me over the phone if they needed to explain what a tapas place is. I answered that I had lived in Spain? Hoping that would satisfy her. I don’t think it did.

If you are craving tortilla, chorizos, aceitunas, gambas al ajillo and croquetas as you would have them for 800 years in Spain, pay them a visit.

There are rules.

Always make a reservation. They will turn you away even if the place looks empty. They have a plan. The place is small and I think it is only the owner up front most of the time. I called at 1pm. They open at 6pm.

The crowd was all non-Spaniards because I don’t think we have too many round these parts and they prob make these dishes at home blind folded. I am Colombian. Having been colonized by Spain made me the most Spanish person in the room besides the owner. 😬

It isn’t a young place to go get your flirt on. There is no vibe. That’s ok because I was there strictly for the tapas, cava and fino.

It is really cute though. There are fun and whimsical details throughout. I cannot believe that I forgot to take a bathroom pic. it was teeny, but adorably appointed.

The only thing that I had NEVER seen in Spain was the sidra served this way (Spanish bitter hard apple cider) served with seltzer, ice and fruit. When I gently inquired about it, he basically gave me a shrug that said… nobody here would drink it straight. He is probably right. I’ll have to travel to Asturias with my dinner companions to share that experience.

We didn’t try the whole menu. I named the dishes that we tried and I feel they nailed.

The prices were nostalgically affordable.

They are not on any “redes sociales” as per the person who took my res. Meaning, NO Instagram or FB for them. This place is like a time capsule from the early 90’s.

You will not feel like you are in Spain. You will definitely feel like you are in Mamaroneck, but if you close your eyes while taking a bite of chorizo and a sip of fino, you might get a waft of cigarettes and hear old men arguing about politics.

(Lastly… those other restaurants that you will argue are Spanish, but aren’t, ARE yummy.)

“Went there as I was catching a show across the street. Nice small place with cozy atmosphere. There was seating inside and outdoors. My wife and I started off with a chicken and beef empanada. The filling was delicious and the outside was flaky and light. Delicious empanadas. For our main course my wife had the Cubano and I had the Classic 55 Burger. My wife got sweet potato fries with hers and I got regular seasoned fries. The Cubano was a nice size portion. My wife really enjoyed it And enjoyed the sweet potato fries. The burger I had was absolutely delicious and the french fries were crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The price was definitely reasonable for what we ate. And I did not leave hungry. It was just enough. Definitely a place worth stopping at again and having a couple drinks and some nice food. Also, our server was great. Nice to talk to and very attentive.“

“A true authentic Dominican experience. This is the closest flavors to the food I grew up with, compared to what I've had at home and from visiting family in Dominican Republic. No gate-keeping! I want to make sure they get all the love and recognition they deserve. What incredible food, the options rotate daily, they don't have a menu. Not even sure if they have a phone, so just pop in and get your fix! The lady working the counter is incredibly sweet and you can tell cares for her patrons and the community.

“Vaga Alta Sports Bar near Yankee Stadium is a solid spot to hang out before or after a game. I stopped by and grabbed a Stella—served in a clean, cold glass, which I appreciated. The prices are decent, though I didn’t explore much beyond the beer. The menu’s got a ton of options if you’re hungry. The bartendress was gorgeous and super friendly, which made the vibe even better. With at least a dozen TVs showing different sports, it’s a great place to catch some action. Four stars—definitely a nice holdover spot!“

I was worried the salad would be dry but NOPE! It was tossed in right the amount of dressing and the plantains were fresh and fantastic! So so good.“

“Alright, in this neighborhood, there aren't many Latin restaurants left, but La Reina is a mainstay for 2 reasons: 1. The food quality is always clean, plentiful, and consistent. 2. Though their prices have risen (as have every other single restaurant in this neighborhood no matter what the genre of food) they are still the most reasonable around for Latin food. Whenever I stop by they're always friendly accomodating. My favorite dish is their roast chicken, their seasoning blend is top tier. My husband is also a fan of their pernil (and I am too when I steal from his plate). I never leave without getting a hearty portion of habichuelas. Please support this business, they have a hole in the wall but they deserve an entire dining room.“

“I was surprised by this place. For a simple looking restaurant, the food is exceptional. Skirt steak mondaditas are incredible. We had ribs, shrimp, lobster tail and pork chops, all of whi h were delicious. Even the mash potatoes were flavorful. This place is definitely a must try.“

Portions: Huge. My wife and I didn’t even finish our plates, and that’s rare for me. The portions are so big I actually told them while they were dipping up the food to put some back because it was too much. You definitely get your money’s worth.

Food: Food was good – flavorful, well-seasoned Caribbean comfort food. Simple, filling, and hit the spot.

Service/Vibe: Went in the evening and it wasn’t too busy, so no wait. It’s walk-up style: you go to the counter, tell them what you want, they dip it up, then you sit yourself. Fast and no fuss.

Price: Really fair for how much food you get.

Only downside: Most of the staff speak Spanish, so if you don’t, it can be a little hard to understand. Pointing at the food helped us, but just something to be aware of.

Overall, great food, massive portions, good price, and quick service. If you’re in Harlem and want a filling meal without the wait, Tropical Grill delivers.

“Honestly, this is one of the best Dominican restaurants in the city, but what really won me over was the beans. They're so good and I never really go for beans at most restaurants. Only thing that holds them back is the lack of chicken on occasion.“
