“Went late arrived around 7pm looking for dinner. Had a choice of Kansas city Hot Chicken or 96 BBQ. Chose BBQ and was pleasantly surprised! From the appearance outside unsure if it was take-out only, so had my husband check if they had tables. You immediately are welcomed with the wonderful aroma of good BBQ. Service was good once you got your table. The food came to the table quickly. Excellent appearance and the portions were generous. I found both the ribs and brisket to be tender and well seasoned. Bark on brisket was beautiful with a little of a peppery bite. Ribs (half rack) were fall of the bone tender. Corn bread was a bit sweet but moist. Smokehouse beans were meaty with good sauce. We will return to try more of the menu.“

“Great Diner, somewhat crowded during breakfast due to it's popularity plus it closes at 2pm which is the typical time for small diners. Food is very good. It can get a bit loud during peak times and be prepared to wait after giving your name, note the waiting area is very small but worth the wait !!!“

“Had Valentines Day dinner at Horizons. The evening was excellent in all aspects from start to finish.

The food was outstanding, clearly the chef knows how to create dishes with flavors that complement each other, delicious!

All of the staff, from the bar tenders, the coat check lady, our server Debbie, to management were personable, efficient and attentive.

Since it was Valentines Day the restaurant was extremely busy but the acoustics were very good in that I could have an intimate conversation with my partner (very important if you don't want to shout to be heard above the noise). I should note that tables were not on top of each other which enhanced the overall experience. There was a Jazz trio playing that also added to a charming atmosphere.

The only opportunity is that we miss a place to get up and dance, pre-Covid it was possible to do that in the bar area.“

“In this industry, When will we start to teach our hostesses that they are the first impression for any guest that walks in the restaurant. In my opinion you don’t need to pay for a hostess on Saturday nights, the servers can handle that collectively. Especially a hostess who greets your guests with “how many?” And does absolutely nothing else all evening. Our server was fantastic, the food was good but pricey. Been here a few times and l like the vibe. Train your hostess to be warm and friendly, but you really don’t need to be paying that wage 😉“

When we returned we were greeted by the manager who offered his apologies for the mishap and offered to give us a free meal for our inconvenience. In summation: A problem resolved! “My partner and I had our first date at the EG seven years ago, so in an uncharacteristically sentimental moment, I made reservations for us to eat there this past weekend. (We've eaten there a few times in the interim, but this was our most recent visit, just to clarify.) We've always enjoyed the quality of the service, the overall atmosphere and, until this last visit, the dinner cuisine. The Reader's Digest version: Tasty Old Fashioned cocktail for me, a vodka highball with a barely detectable hint of vodka for her. Very good French Onion soup and good white chicken chili for apps. Our crab cakes were ... fair - not a lot of filler, but a bit bland and underseasoned. Very good carrot cake for dessert, accompanied by very good hot coffee. Now, the cautionary part: If you eat dinner here, I'd strongly suggest you skip the $36 wagyu meatloaf - we agreed it was underseasoned, with an unappetizing texture (dense and chewy, more reminiscent of forcemeat than meatloaf), served with a decent Espagnole sauce that provided badly-needed moisture, and containing a few bits of what I can only surmise was incompletely ground gristle. It really missed the mark, especially at that price, in an otherwise good restaurant. We'll be back, of course - it's not as though this particular meal was the norm in our experience, rather than the exception - but if this was how the wagyu meatloaf is typically prepared and served, it needs work. Our server, Hanna, was professional, efficient and friendly. One other criticism: The dining room chairs are quite short - unless you're a six-footer or taller, prepare for your tabletop to be awkwardly high.“

“My husband took me for dinner and ice cream this afternoon after a few errands. I was not able to enter the restaurant, as I have a badly broken foot and I rested in the car. My husband brought out a beautifully made sundae for me!! I would have gone inside and thanked the server, but I just needed to rest. Little did that server know, I will be having surgery in two days, and I have been in so much pain, unable to sleep, and hardly able to eat, from worry. That sundae cheered me up SO much!!!! You never know exactly who is on the receiving end of your work -- but that waiter made our sundaes as though they were a gift or from a fancy restaurant! I was so delighted! Thank you! They have a wide variety of soups, salads, sandwiches and desserts. The dinner menu look wonderful too. We specifically picked this restaurant for their vegetarian options.
