“On our first visit to Lakeside we were so impressed with the customer service at the Whistle Stop Ice Cream. The place is teeny tiny, probably only fits 8-10 customers at one time, but the service is quick and very friendly. The women working the shop recognized my 9 year old son's non verbal autism and immediately engaged with him in an informed and appropriate way. They pointed to the ice cream containers to make sure they were scooping the one he was choosing and they watched his body language cues to understand that he wanted to add sprinkles to the top of his treat. As a special needs family, that kindness and understanding is so appreciated. Other information to add- They were serving Toft's ice cream when we were there, they also have Dole Whips, popcorn and Slushies. Since the place is so tiny there are no bathrooms, no inside seating, there was a bench outside. Prices were fair market value for a small shop. Cash and Check only.“

“Had a peach smoothie! It was delicious. The staff, while I don’t think they were happy about it lol, stayed open past closing time to complete the long line of people. It was definitely appreciated since there aren’t many drink and food options in the off season.“

“They have so many flavors of ice cream. My favorite is Bourbon brown butter truffle and lemon blueberry cheesecake. I like going here after leaving Cedar Point, but I wish it was open a bit later because it’s often closed after I leave the park. You can also buy 1.5 q sized containers of ice cream!“

“Unbelievable value for food that fills you up and leaves you wanting more. Be it the pizza, the subs, the wings or appetizers you are getting a dish crafted with care. My favorite is the chicken Alfredo sub and fries 🍟 . My wife loves the taco pizza 🍕 🌮 and my kids love for the cheese pizza followed by a Reese’s ice cream 🍦 If you haven’t you, you should, if you are thinking about it, you must! Kyle & Tony and crew deliver every time!“

“Place used to be decent last year. We would all call ahead and order like 2/3 times a week for lunch.. lately weve been going and our foods has been undercooked, or wrong, or the bills wrong.. i hope i can change this soon like my boy patty said

“Incredible! Drove through with a carload of friends and ordered a bunch of different things (burgers, fries, shakes). The food was about what you'd expect from a roadside ice-cream stand, but it was reasonably priced, portions were big, and it was made fresh.

The shakes were especially good. We'd been told to try the peanut butter shake, and it was definitely worth it. Chocolate, butterscotch, and vanilla were also very good!

It's a family-run establishment. The staff were friendly and the service was quick. Highly recommend if you're looking for reasonably priced dinner and dessert in the Sandusky area. Will DEFINITELY go again.“
