“My girlfriend and I went out to dinner here to experience a new restaurant and we're treated to some of the best service we could ask for. Keri was our wait staff and she singlehandedly enhanced our night to another level. The politeness and friendliness made us two return customers instantly! Definitely recommend to everyone“

“It's been a couple years since we have dined here. I'm on a mission to give positive reviews to those that need it, so I'm back tracking a bit.We had our first Hocking Hills weekend away, just my husband and I. We live about 4.5 hours from HH.I did a Facebook post asking for suggestions to do/eat/see while in the area. Lake Hope Lodge was one of them.We came in November, so most of the leaves were down. It was a beautiful drive up, and once you arrive at the restaurant, the view down into the hollow is a looker too!We dined in the main dining hall with HUGE high ceilings and lovely wooden beams. We did have a seat next to the window looking down into the hollow. It would have been and even better experience if we had been there during warmer temperatures and could have sat outside. We might have to make the trek back to LHL!We had a couple beers and decided to start off with some loaded potato skins- they were a win!My husband had the ribeye, veggies and baked sweet potato. He enjoyed his meal.I had the Pride of the Pitt, which goes against everything in me as I'm a pasta/salad lover, and shy away from protein most often. It was delightful! I kept saying during my meal that I had made the right choice! All three meats were cooked to perfection. I got a side of coleslaw and the veggies as well.We didn't find that the prices were obnoxiously high, like you so often find when traveling to touristy areas. Our server did a great job as well. This was a very enjoyable experience!“
“We had “That’s a chunky” hazy IPA and they were great! They are having a pig roast tonight to celebrate 420! They have indoor seating as well as a nice outside area. They have games you can grab and play inside and have tether ball outside. Kids are welcome too! They have a large selection of beer and other drinks including non alcoholic options which I love. They have restrooms for everyone including a family and all gender one!! Parking lot is large which is a plus. All the staff from the time we got there was very friend knowledgeable and helpful. They have handicap parking area close to the entrance of the brewery. They also sell shirts and hats merchandise at a reasonable price. Definitely will be back when we can stay longer.“

“Looking for a hometown type of place for late lunch during a visit to Ohio University. Good fried chicken ? and excellent walk up service. The seating area is limited but clean and pleasant. Picture of the original family home and business site on the wall. Close to campus.“

“A cozy and cute spot for a specialty cocktail. Love stopping in here to have a drink and play board games. The service is so friendly and informative on the different types of spirits. Kelly is my favorite bartender, she would look great in a hat.“

“Small restaurant, but got seated fairly quickly and food came very fast. Street parking was a bit difficult to find. Atmosphere was a typical older diner. Waitress was very friendly and attentive. Had a veggie omelet, hashbrowns, and biscuit & gravy. Husband had egg sandwich and shared my meal. My meal was very good. Would definitely go back.“
“Ohio University game day—Halloween weekend. Found this place uptown. Upon opening, they became very busy. However, we had excellent service from Elise. The portobello mushroom sandwich was phenomenal! Side salad was very nice! Will be back the next time we are in town!“

“While on campus to pick up our daughter for Christmas Break we stopped in for an early dinner. I split the Fried Fish wrap with my husband. It was plenty of food so I was glad we split. I do wish their wraps came with a side of some sort. Overall very delicious. Would eat there again.“

“The Tom Yum soup was amazing. The balance between sweet coconut with a little hint of spice was delightful! The service was great. Didn't realize they didn't have any alcohol selections on site, but you can BYOB. Which is nice, but I wasn't going to leave and come back since it's not a deal breaker for me. Posting this so others know in advance. Hopefully, next time, the weather will be better and we can sit outside and enjoy the beautiful outdoor area.“

“The food was pretty good, and I'm looking forward to trying it again when the stars align. I really enjoyed their take on Greek fries and recommend those, maybe just as your entire meal. The word on this place is that they "are never open". The one time I went there wasn't anyone behind the counter when I walked in, and I had to wait a few minutes to be acknowledged. Poor me, I know, but that isn't very welcoming, and may result in some people not going in or just leaving which hurts their chances at success. Of course, this may have been a rare occurrence as my sample size is one visit. I tried to go again on a Sunday before a movie and, you guessed it, closed. I looked up their hours and they aren't open on weekends, so maybe that is why it seems that they are never open. It seems like a bad decision to not be open on weekends, but I'm sorta used to Athen's business hours which are all over the place and presumably designed to keep a business open just enough to appease students and bring in just enough money keep the doors open another month.“
“Nice local college bar. The bartenders are top notch! If you dare they have a board of specialty drinks and shots. The chocolate pretzel shot is yummy . They offer touch tunes, several tvs, and two pool tables. There's not much room for wild dancing but you can find a little space to bop along to your favorite tune. They do offer bar food during non-peak hours. I enjoy the bar when it's not a family weekend and you can just sit a chill, listen to some music, watch sports and enjoy some cheese sticks.“

“Awesome place to grab dinner and a beer. I was on a motorcycle adventure in the area staying at Stroud's Run Campground 10 minutes away. Decided to head into town for dinner instead of cooking at camp and I'm glad I did. Great atmosphere, good food and beer and friendly staff. The place is really cool inside with a bunch of Edison lights hanging from the ceiling. Recommended.“

“Nice little place to grab breakfast. Decided to stop here on the way out of town. Got right in on a Saturday morning. Ordered the French Toast and a side of bacon. Wasn't the best, wasn't the worst but by no means bad. I enjoyed it. My friend got some sort of breakfast hash that she said was really delicious. I think it's worth going back to. Recommended.“

“Eaten here a couple times for breakfast and it’s been ok. we had the banana bread French toast and it was just way too big to eat all of it but it was pretty good. Service is kind of slow and takes a while to even get seated when they aren’t full or anything. Last time we ate here the servers were cleaning the table next to us and were talking bad about other servers that work there so it was kind of awkward to hear that.“
“Great drinks. Great people. Busy even on a Monday! Great service. Great food. Great chicken sandwich. Zack and Jake had great service. Definitely recommend coming here. They play country on busier nights in the basement , but they still had great music upstairs! Best Bar in Athens!!“

“The good is the food and service. Almost always the service is top tier. The food is almost always perfectly prepared. The bad relates to changes over time. Like most Mexican restaurants, Casa used to provide salsa and chips to start, giving customers something to munch while waiting. Nothing provided anymore. A salsa serving is about an ounce and over a $1; whereas, most provide 2-4 oz free. Your meal comes with 1 oz...for a burrito and larger meal this is far too little. Requested a veggie (e.g., fresh mushrooms) as part of the filling. Would not provide even though they had them for items on the seasonal menu. The original owner as restaurant was all about the cuisine and customer. About 10-15 years ago things changed to a more accounting focus where everything was charged, portions controlled. Understandable. However, salsa and other item portions are often very small in comparison. For many years every trip to Athens included stopping by and hosting friends. In the past 5 years, I'll stop and bring friends when convenient or desired. No longer the go to place.“

“Hands down the best place to get food, be fed, &/or eat in all of Southeast Ohio. Frittatas & quiches are all-day fare. Their sweets are delicious & we'll balanced. Then there's the added bonus that Village Bakery & Cafe is a safe space!“

“The food was great. The atmosphere was down a bit because it was grad weekend. It wasn't busy enough to have the pace of our service but my assumption is some was new to the staff, or perhaps just feeling the weekend a little bit. Either way nothing to complain about other the pace. Food is always great even with the limited menu for the big weekend. Salad and burgers are great. Fries are next level.“

“We came here to celebrate a graduation from Ohio University. We didn't go with any appetizers but I started with the Cutlers Sangria. It had Pinot Nior, bourbon, grand Marnier, cranberry, brown sugar honey, lemon lime soda and vitamin C. Very tasty. I went with a Caesar Salad and I elected for the 7 oz Filet with garlic mashed and collard greens. The salad was ideal. Perfect portion. Dressing was spot on. The filet was cooked to perfection at medium. The mashed potatoes were divine. You can keep the collard greens! The were bitter and lacked any seasoning. I had a glass of Pinot Nior as well.“
