“I went for a quick meal in mid-afternoon. I had the lamb and chicken combo which came with a side of green salad and rice. I chose not to have the rice. To my surprise I was I was charged less than what the price stated on the menu. The chicken and the lamb were both tender and spiced just right. I was very impressed by the quality of the food - fresh, clean and very tasty. For a quick and inexpensive meal, I highly recommend Afghan Cuisine on Overlea Blvd.”

“Ordered food from this place to be delivered for a small special occasion and honestly, the food was pretty good. Got my food in record time and everything was nice and hot.

It was through UberEats and they had some deals. Got 2 orders of wings, chicken fried rice and coke cans each, plus an order of shanghai noodles. The flavours of the wings and fried rice were great, nicely seasoned.
Shanghai noodles were good too, flavour just was slightly different compared to other shanghai noodle dishes in other Chinese places so I wasn't into it personally. Doesn't have that dark soy sauce colour.

The whole process to get my food was 20 minutes, including the actual delivery time, which kind of scared me.

And honestly was scared to order here at first given the past reviews, but I wouldn't shy away from ordering here again. Everything I ordered was overall delicious.”

“Let me tell you….i am very very picky about my curry chicken roti and Island Spice Flava restaurant has the most delicious flavorful roti. They also don’t skimp and use potatoes as filler….there is literally chicken in every bite! I’ve been here like 5 or 6 times and it has been consistent and delicious. Also the staff is so friendly and love the no nonsense atmosphere. Always a stop for me when I’m visiting Toronto.”

“A Decadent Taste of Greece at Macchiato

Had lunch at my favorite Greek Gyro spot Tzatziki on Mt.Pleasant today for lunch. Was in the mood for dessert, and the staff told me about their sister location in Pape Village, a 24 hour Coffee and Dessert spot with homemade decadent pasties and desserts.

I love the food at Tzatziki so made my way to Macciato Espresso Bar to enjoy a desert on their outdoor patio.

From the moment the plate arrived the aroma of warm custard, buttery pastry, and a hint of cinnamon was irresistible. I gently cut into the bougatsa, the phyllo giving way with a delicate crackle, scattering golden flakes like confetti on the plate.

The first bite was pure comfort and elegance. The crisp, buttery layers melted into a velvety custard—warm, smooth, and perfectly balanced in sweetness. The dusting of cinnamon and powdered sugar added a gentle spice and light sweetness that made each bite feel complete.

The textures played in perfect harmony—the satisfying crunch of the pastry followed by the soft, creamy center. As I lingered over each mouthful, the buttery and spiced notes stayed with me, making it impossible not to close my eyes for a moment and just enjoy.

Paired with a Ice Cold Freddo Cappuccino coffee, it was the kind of treat that turns an ordinary lunch into a memorable one.

“This super sweet corner chocolatier is really really good! I've gotten a pack of their chocolates for a bride-to-be and she loved them.

If you're a chocoholic like me, I highly recommend the dark chocolate vegan gelato and the Nutella. It's a really good combination, but quite honestly I have yet to have a bad flavour from there! Toasted marshmallow and rocky road are great options too.

They're a bit pricey and there's very little seating to enjoy your ice cream/gelato, but it's worth it I promise.”

“Insanely good value for money with its fast food prices at slightly better quality food.

Got the combo deal of two pieces of fried chicken, one pizza slice (you can choose any you want, not just the basic cheese or pepperoni), and one pop for less than what combos cost at fast food spots. The chicken was pretty good with its crackling skin and juicy meat. The pizza could have used a bit more zing in its taste but had a nice chewy crust.

Space is clean and has some tables for dine-in. Menu is pretty extensive. Owner is nice. This is definitely a good spot that your wallet will love.”

“This is a gem. The owner, Fen, serves you and she's very warm, friendly and accommodating. I'm the kind of patron servers try to avoid because I always want to switch ingredients. Only broccoli and mushroom with my bean curd? No problem! Normally a place will just leave out the other ingredients and not compensate for their absence, but clearly, as the photo shows, it's not how they operate here.

Most of their business is take out, so the place has been exceptionally quiet every time I've come, which is nice. The menu is well organized and easy to navigate.

The pricing is very reasonable and the portions are quite large, but on top of everything the food texture is appropriately firm (not mushy, like some places... You actually need to chew your broccoli here!) and the flavor is excellent.”

“i am in the area all summer as I go to Kiwanis pool daily. I stopped in one day to get a slice and they offered veggie or pepperoni. I chose veggie and the slice was gigantic and dripping with cheese and profuse toppings! The crust was crispy and excellent and I was amazed at how great it was! I am disabled and need to use a walker and the worker at the front held the door open for me and was extremely accommodating! I have been back several times since then. I am going to try the chicken and the ribs next time. The owner is Sri Lankan and very friendly as well as his children who work there. The prices are also very good, 6.00 for a slice with pop! The restaurant was very clean also.”
