“Last night, I had the pleasure of arranging a dinner for my former colleagues from Unilever Pakistan. There were about 40 of us, and I’ve had the privilege of organizing these gatherings for a few years now, each time at a different restaurant. This time, we met at Charsi Karhai, and I have to say, it was truly one of the best experiences we've had. This isn’t just my opinion; everyone who attended had glowing feedback. Here’s why: • Prayer arrangements: Since our dinner was scheduled for 7 pm, around maghrib, many of us wanted to offer prayers. The restaurant already had a decent arrangement in place, which was very thoughtful. • Personalized menu: Gill, the restaurant manager, coordinated with me to fine-tune the menu to our liking. We went back and forth with texts and calls to ensure everything was just right, and I really appreciated the effort. Both Gill and his team member, Bipsha, were extremely helpful throughout. • Private space: Half of the restaurant was allocated to us with a partition set up. This allowed us to have our own space, which gave everyone the chance to mingle freely. It was such a refreshing change from our usual restaurant experiences, where we’d end up seated at separate tables with limited interaction. • Delicious food: The food, as always, was outstanding. We ordered Chicken Karhai, Goat Karhai, Tawa Keema, Bihari Kebab, and Palak Daal. Midway through dinner, Gill suggested adding Kheer for dessert, which was a hit with everyone. We also included tea, which wasn’t in our original plan, but it made the evening even better. • Buffet style: The food was served buffet-style, which made everything so much smoother. There was no clutter on the tables, and everyone could help themselves, ensuring nothing went to waste. It also encouraged people to move around and connect with others, which really added to the warm and social atmosphere. • Excellent service: The service was top-notch. Bipsha and the team were very professional and patient, especially considering the size of our group. • Reasonable prices: The food was priced quite reasonably, especially considering all the extra touches that made the evening so special. • Personal touch: During the dinner, the restaurant owner, Jamshed, came by to check on us. He personally spoke with me to ensure everything was going smoothly and asked if there was anything else they could do to enhance our experience. It was a lovely gesture. One thing I discovered about Charsi Karhai is that they offer a customizable buffet for larger groups, which is quite unique compared to other restaurants. You get to choose the dishes you want rather than sticking to a fixed menu, which I thought was a great option. I know this may sound like I’m promoting Charsi Karhai, but I genuinely mean every word. “We placed a large order, for the first time, with Mario’s BBQ on Hurontario St. From start to finish, it was a very pleasant experience. It was delivered on time and was fresh and hot. We just had to take the cover off the dishes, and they all looked appetizing and beautifully presented. The portions were huge. Everyone enjoyed the deliciously flavoured roasted and grilled chickens, the rice, and roasted potatoes and veggies. The Greek salad was perfect too. Could not get any better than this. “I recently had The Sun Barbecue Co. cater my party, and it was honestly one of the highlights of the entire event. From the food quality to the presentation, everything exceeded expectations and left all of my guests raving.

The spread they prepared was incredible. The turon was perfectly crispy and caramelized, with that amazing sweet crunch that disappeared almost immediately once people started trying it. The fried giant prawns were a huge hit — perfectly cooked, lightly crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and packed with flavor. They were one of the first dishes to go.

The fried rice with shrimp and vegetables was another standout. It was fragrant, well-balanced, and loaded with shrimp and fresh veggies — not just filler rice like you sometimes get with catering. Guests kept going back for seconds because it was that good.

The fried chicken wings were honestly unforgettable. They were enormous in size, perfectly crispy, and incredibly juicy. Multiple people commented on how big they were and how well-seasoned they tasted.

They also prepared a beautiful mixed vegetable and tofu dish that had an amazing variety of vegetables, cooked perfectly so everything still had great texture and flavor. It was the perfect balance to the rest of the dishes and showed how much care goes into their cooking.

To finish everything off, they served a sunflower mango pudding that looked as amazing as it tasted. It was beautifully presented, light, refreshing, and the perfect sweet ending to the meal.

Beyond the food itself, the team at The Sun Barbecue Co. was incredibly professional, organized, and easy to work with. Catering a party can be stressful, but they made everything smooth and effortless.

So many of my guests asked where the food came from, and I would absolutely recommend them to anyone looking for catering for a party or special event. Amazing food, generous portions, and a team that clearly takes pride in what they do.

Not sure if it was because my daughter was dolled up for her bday or not, but they put our family in one of the rooms was made the dinner feel really special (VIP-type atmosphere).
