“Saw this place on TikTok late at night and booked it on impulse, no regrets.

There were three lunch omakase options available that day, and we went with the sashimi nigiri lunch. The course started with miso soup, followed by a sashimi appetizer, then 8 pieces of nigiri and a temaki. We even got ice cream at the end. It doesn’t look like a lot, but it was surprisingly filling.

The omakase was served in a separate room that seats around 10 people (I think?). Service was attentive throughout, servers constantly checked in to make sure everything was okay and we enjoyed every part of the experience, even the lady at the door was super friendly. At $55, it’s an insane deal. No super high-end fish obviously, but the experience and setting alone make it more than worth it. Highly recommend!!“

“I absolutely love! One of my favorite places to eat in GTA. I've been many times already, and the food is consistently great. My young children clean their plates. Personally, I think about some day ordering everything on the menu and eating a bit of everything at once. That moment would be so euphoric! Whatever is left over I'd take home and since their take home containers are microwave friendly; it's just happiness. Next day, still amazing!“

“This was our go-to place in the past. They changed their menu presentation, which made the ordering a bit unclear. We love taking the little ones here because they enjoy the barbequing experience. However, I find it difficult to grab a bite with a family party because I don't usually get to eat much before our time limit is up.“

Tomo Japanese Restaurant was a great experience in terms of food, service, atmosphere, and above all safety for me and my son. People with Celiac and NCGS, Tomo is a really nice place with safe gluten-free food, highly recommended. :)“

“The sushi here is incredibly fresh and easily the best I have had in the area so far! It is genuinely on par with many of the sushi restaurants I have tried in Japan which really surprised me. The atmosphere is great, the vibe is just right, and the staff are very kind and attentive. I ordered the Sapporo Boat with my family and was honestly blown away by how good everything was, there wasn’t a single item I wouldn’t order again! Even the sushi rice stood out as being above average really bringing everything together. I highly highly recommend this any sushi lovers in the area!!“

“Beautiful (huge) space. We went at lunch time so it was pretty empty. But at night i can see it being filled up.

Food was delicious with a good variety, and lots of lunch specials. The red dragon rolls had a bit too much sweet sauce (would’ve been nice to have it on the side). But otherwise I’m happy with everything we ordered: miso soup, sushi, chicken and pork belly skewers, Brussels sprouts. All very flavourful.

Service was good. Not much more to say.“

“We ordered a large platter that was absolutely delicious, fresh, and high-quality. From the moment it arrived, I was truly surprised – the presentation was so beautiful and artistic, it looked like a painted masterpiece on a plate. It came with a warm, flavorful soup that was simply delightful. The staff were extremely polite, friendly, and professional, making the experience even more special. Indeed, Kome Shokudo is the local spot for your affordable Japanese comfort food. We revisited for the first time in several years and were still impressed by the food portions and menu offerings. The flavours are nothing to write home about but for about $15 or less you can get a giant bowl of teriyaki beef on rice (gyudon), various udon, tempura or pork/chicken katsu curry. Only the shrimp curry with rice is a bit skimpy in the number of shrimps for the large option.

It’s neat that the quick-serve comes to your table via a robot server. You can fill up on fresh water at the drink station. The only downside is the decor which has aged over the years of popular use and plenty of graffiti seemingly from students scribbled on the walls of the side tables.

Skip it or hit it? When you’re craving for a quick Japanese fix this is good meal option. It can get busy in here so just be prepared.“

“The sushi here is really good, fresh, tasty, and great quality for the price. It’s not a fancy or luxury place, but everything tastes authentic and delicious. The only thing is that the space between the booth seats and the table is a bit tight, so it’s not very comfortable to sit for long. Overall, definitely worth it if you’re looking for good sushi at a reasonable price!“

“First time here and it was truly amazing.

The food is fantastic. I ordered the sushi set and everything was incredibly fresh and top quality. The tonkatsu don was also very well made and tasty, crispy on the outside and full of flavor.

The dining area has a classic Japanese style with thoughtful decoration and renovation. The staff were very friendly and welcoming.

Prices are very reasonable. It honestly feels like they haven’t raised prices over the years. I’d also highly recommend the dessert: the green tea ice cream is only $2 and has a rich flavor.

I normally don’t write restaurant reviews but this place is exceptional. I hope more people get the chance to visit.“

“Love love love this place. This time I had their Chirashi Sushi, and the Bulgogi dinner. The serving size was perfect if not on the larger size for me. Their food always tastes heavenly and fresh. “This was our first time at Takumi and we are pretty happy with this place. We order a platter and tempura appy. The restaurant didn’t look busy but there were a lot orders coming in for delivery or pick up. The platter took longer than we hoped but it is Friday night. We have been noticing that orders coming in take precedent over orders taken from customers dining in.
Overall, the fish was very fresh and the sashimi was cut generously. We enjoyed ourselves and will probably come back.“

The prices here are definitely on the higher end but honestly, the quality of the sushi, sashimi and even the miso soup made it feel all worth it! Everything tasted clean, fresh and truly made with intention. They even surprised us with matcha ice cream at the end of our lunch, which was so sweet and thoughtful. It was a slow Friday afternoon and it turned out to be genuinely an amazing experience. I left so happy, full and wanting to come back to support them again! “Such a pleasant surprise and honestly a lifesaver. The sushi is fresh and well-prepared, especially the tempura rolls, which are consistently great. The end-of-day avocado, yam, and tuna rolls are also a fantastic deal and still very tasty. Even with the discounts, the quality stays consistent.

The staff are polite and welcoming, making the experience even better. It’s also a good thing this place is walkable from our new place, even in the winter, so we’ll definitely keep coming back.“
