“Ordered takeout from this place on a weekday. The resto occupies the spot that Apron Cafe used to sit in.
My order was ready in 15-20 min. Walked in and was greeted warmly by the hostess who handed me my food.
I ordered a yuzu miso pork loin and an okonomiyaki.
The pork was crispy and juicy. The miso sauce was great! I get very similar vibes between this place and Katsuya. The menus also look VERY similar.
Okonomiyaki was tasty as well. I liked the fresh salad on top.
Overall, food quality was excellent! I do think it was quite pricey though for the quantity of food. Prolly wouldn't be a regular because of the price.
Will return to try some of their other katsu flavours!“

“*edit: 2025 Aug Still great!
Fast takeout with easy ordering and a well written menu with good photographs of the item. The fish is the perfect temperature and the rice is flavorful. The presentation dining in is beautiful and the take out also looks good and sapporo sushi always provides a fair serving of soya, ginger, and wasabi.“

“Awesome place. I haven't had celiac friendly sushi for a very long time. I am very sensitive and get really sick if I eat any gluten or even something cross-contaminated. Tomo Japanese Restaurant was a great experience in terms of food, service, atmosphere, and above all safety for me and my son. People with Celiac and NCGS, Tomo is a really nice place with safe gluten-free food, highly recommended. :)“

“My family and I have been coming to this place for the last 10 years , by far the most consistent sushi restaurant in the GTA, great service, great atmosphere and most importantly, the best sushi.
Rachel is also a terrific waitress,
Bravo,“

“The quality of the food at this restaurant is well beyond anything you would expect in the suburbs. The fish tastes fresh and the rice is high quality sushi rice. Generally you have to head to downtown to get sushi/sashimi that tastes this good.
The service is suburb, they actually make you feel like you matter and that you are at a friends house.
Finally, for the quality of the food the prices are more than reasonable.
I also like that I can get Soju at this restaurant as I prefer it with sushi to Sake.
I can recommend Akane without reservation.“

“Very delicious udon and great value for their portions! I always have to get their Niku tama Udon and add the Kakiage (beef udon w/hot spring egg and fried vegetable fritter.) The chicken karaage and korokke are my go-to appetizers as well.“

“I came here with my brother because we wanted some sushi for dinner. We found this spot , and came over.
We ordered a lot of sushi, okonomiyaki, and some kaarage. For the sushi, we had Maguro Tuna, Hirame, Amaebi, Unagi, Hamachi, salmon, amd spicy salmon rolls. The sushi was a bit on the pricier end, but they were all very delicious!“

“This is our go-to AYCE sushi restaurant. The quality is really good and the servers are so kind. They know who we are and are very welcoming. We come to often because of that and because the food is so delicious (sushi but also beef udon and shrimp skewers!). The only critique is sometimes some items will take a long time to come out or get missed, but the servers are always on top of it when we let them know. We love this place!“

“I recently visited Kibo Sushi House, and it’s a delightful spot for sushi lovers on a budget. Based on reviews and public info, this place has carved out a niche for offering high-quality Japanese cuisine at accessible prices. Conveniently located, it’s perfect for a quick bite or a casual meal without breaking the bank.
The atmosphere is simple yet cozy—nothing fancy, but it has a welcoming charm that suits its focus on fresh, affordable sushi. During my visit, the standout was the sushi itself: well-prepared rolls with fresh ingredients that punched above their price point. Online chatter highlights favorites like the signature Kibo rolls and spicy salmon, and I can vouch for the quality—tasty and satisfying. The staff were friendly and efficient, which matches the praise for quick service I’d seen in reviews.
It’s not without quirks. Some mention smaller portions compared to pricier spots, and I noticed that too, but for the cost, it’s hard to complain. It can get busy, especially for takeout, so timing matters. Parking was easy, a nice perk for any urban spot. Public sentiment pegs Kibo as a reliable chain with a community feel, and I get it—it’s straightforward, delicious, and wallet-friendly. I’d recommend it for anyone craving sushi without the splurge, and I’ll definitely be back for more!“

“We ordered various sushi and a soup — everything was incredibly delicious! On top of our order, they brought us some small complimentary side dishes, like miso soup, potato in sauce, and pasta salad. Tea was served right away. The service was extremely friendly and warm — it really made the whole experience special. Highly recommend!“

“It was the perfect red bean shaved ice.
They filled the insulated bag with ice, so I went home after shopping and it wasn't melted at all. I shared it with my husband today, but from next time we each decided to have one shaved ice.“

“Everything I’ve had from here is delicious, but my favourite is surprisingly the Japanese egg salad sandwich - it’s to die for. Light, fluffy, and the perfect little lunch. Never thought I would say that about egg salad haha but I think about them all the time and it keeps me coming back. All the deserts are lovely as well if you are looking for a treat. Service is always prompt and friendly. Hidden Hillcrest gem, tucked away in a little corner by the bay.“

“I gave this sushi spot a solid 5 stars mainly for the value. The $34 sushi tray comes with 45 pieces—an incredible deal in Toronto! The quality is decent—not mind-blowing, but fresh and satisfying. Perfect for casual dinners or group gatherings. It’s a small, family-run shop with kind owners and reliable service. If you’re looking for something affordable and dependable, this hidden gem delivers exactly that. Great option to keep in your back pocket!“

“Literally a hidden gem since no one really talks or post about it on social media. Spontaneously walked into TAKI Japanese Cuisine for dinner one weekend, and we were so thankful that they were able to take the 2 of us in for omakase dinner at the bar!
They took over the same space as Rin Sushi with the same decor and same layout. The waitresses who served us that evening wore traditional Japanese kimonos; the chef and staff all spoke in Japanese. Food and service were amazing!
We opt in for the Sakura Sushi Omakase Course (160)
- Appetizer
- Osumasi Soup
- 5pcs Sashimi
- Mushimono
- 8 pcs Sushi (the uni was amazing!)
- Tamago w/ anago
- Negitoro Handroll
- Matcha Mousse Dessert
They have an omakase promo right now for 95/pp, which imo is a pretty good deal for the quality and experience! I am actually excited to come back and check out the Sukiyaki dinner for 2 people (U.S. Angus & Japan Wagyu beef) for next time!“
