“First time visitors. We were treated with great warmth and courtesy. The restaurant itself is beautiful and original. The lunch menu was very appealing. Top tip, you can view that day's menu on the restaurant's website prior to arrival. Our food was delicious, the portions generous, the staff impeccable. Looking forward to returning for dinner soon. Thank you for a lovely and memorable meal.“

“Incredible. Let's just start out with the vibe. Immaculate lighting and interior, like an old library/bar with an almost romantic woodsy feel.
The service was great, attentive, all of it.
Where this place made my day, was the food. The lamb ribs were one of the best bites of food I've ever had. Don't get me wrong, everything else was fantastic, but the lamb ribs BLEW my mind.
Order 2 of them.“

“It was one of those difficult days. I was hungry and did not feel like cooking. Had no idea what to eat or where to go for some takeout. As I walk across, I see some picnic tables and bright orange umbrellas... the people seemed happy and chill, so I was like hello Ladybug!! I was greeted with a pleasant smile and a candlelit atmosphere. I sat at the bar and chatted with the waiter. I ordered a rum & coke then asked about their menu. The hot dish of the night was a Peruvian chicken... boy o boy, it did not disappoint. It had just the right kick of flavour(I'm sure they can add some heat if you ask). I ate enough to fill my tummy and saved the rest for lunch the next day.
I would recommend this place for a chill night of catch-up or a date night.
Thank you, Ladybug, for a welcoming and enjoyable dinner!!“

“What an unreal experience at a Michelin star restaurant – truly culinary art at its finest. This was everything fine dining should be about: impeccable service, an elegant atmosphere, and unforgettable food. Our waiter, Naz, was outstanding and made my wife’s birthday feel extra special. The best part? They catered perfectly to our halal dietary preferences, which was a huge plus. The menu was beautifully curated, and my personal favorites were the wagyu beef and the egg dish. And I can’t forget to mention the bread – so fresh, paired with their incredible butter and olive oil. Just an amazing night all around. Thanks for making the bday experience unforgettable!“

“Came on Sunday night, was surprised to see they have Sunday happy hour. There was a super nice vibe, cosy, dark, and good music (jazz, rnb, funk, rap, reggae, ext). Really nice for a date spot or just a casual hang out, some dancing even broke out. We Enjoyed A $40 bottle of wine between 2 ppl ❤️ really great time! Maybe ill get to try the food next time!!“

“Amazing restaurant. The outdoor space in the back is great even in the winter. The sharing plates are so good and the wine selection is amazing.“

“Midfield is my favourite place!! The wine list is wonderful with special descriptions under each wine, there was this wonderful creamy and textured chardonnay blend which I am still dreaming about . Not only a wine bar, midfield is also a food gem in the city! the chef has a farm where the vegetables are grown with love and you can tell, there are very creative/thoughtful dishes with the best seasonal ingredients. I have especially loved when celtuce is in season and on the menu, but year round the salmon crudo in its different iterations always hits the spot.
Beyond the food and wine, the atmosphere is warm and very cozy. Everyone working is always incredibly knowledgeable and passionate, and they seem to have an uncanny knack for recommending what I should drink, its like we have the same palate.
If you're looking for a place with amazing wine, outstanding food go to Midfield!!!!“

“On a Thursday evening we sat on the patio where the city was hopping, so a great time from that perspective. The only downside was the service. It took forever to get our drinks. I noticed there were bringing up one or two at a time for other tables. So they were terribly disorganized and inefficient. Oddly enough our food came out near the same time as our drinks.“

“Excellent mixologists. Didn’t love the cocktail menu (too much tequila, mezcal and gin based for my tastes), but pleased that everything I ordered was well balanced and not too sweet. Food was fantastic. Service was friendly and knowledgeable, but not that attentive on a Fri night. I shouldn’t have to go out of my way to catch someone’s attention to order another drink, my glass was empty for a while. Overall a fun place“

“This was truly an unforgettable dining experience. Even though some dishes needed to be refined between cook, texture and seasoning, overall the taste, plating and service was great. Top dishes of the night was the Yellowtail and Cornish Hen (the wasabi snow is something special) Only downside was that the chef didn’t make a visit to our table. It would have given the night that extra touch and make us understand the inspiration for the current menu. Also, the upsell at the beginning for the wine pairing was awkward and could have done without it. With that being said, I would like to return to experience their next tasting menu.“

“I try every pizza I can from all spots and I have to say this place is it!! Amazing pizza, amazing vibes and amazing authenticity. Thank you for amazing food and amazing service, I WILL be back!!
We had a cheese pizza with mushrooms and mozzarella sticks (the best I’ve had).
Vegetarian options: Cheese pizza
Kid-friendliness: Took my 6 month old with a car seat. If you reserve early or call ahead, they will find a good spot to accommodate and put the stroller on the back storage for you.“

“Chill bar with a young crowd and plenty of seating. Music volume is just right for conversation.
Drinks were ok—balanced but not much depth. Nice garnish, but simple glassware and no coasters. Small digital-only menu.
Water came right away and prices are below average, which is a plus.“

“Excellent food and service in a great location that is surprisingly larger than it looks. A patio right on the street, another in the grotto like entrance give a unique indoor/outdoor experience without feeling like you're sitting on the sidewalk. The inside has smaller rooms that can be cozy or allow large groups like the 15 or so they seated for a party I attended. The wait staff was attentive without being crowding, just the right combination of taking care of your experience and giving you space to enjoy it. Would definitely recommend and will return without a doubt.“

“Love this restaurant on Ossington, especially in the summer on their patio. The food is delicious, fresh and colourful. The menu changes every once in a while but the breakfast sandwich is great, worth every penny. I also had their veggie sandwich which I don’t think is on the menu anymore but it was perfect, I hope they bring it back They make nice classic cocktails and have a good selection of wines. It’s not pretentious like some of the other restaurants on the strip.“

“One of my favourite places with tonight’s meal made perfect thanks to our wonderful server Cece, who’s incredible personality and great service absolutely made our evening. Have been a few times with friends for delicious cocktails and snacks and had to bring my partner tonight who was completely blown away by the flavors and our great service. We had originally booked a bit later and due to the city construction they had to request us to come earlier , which worked great for us. With no prompting, they treated us to some lovely Lambrusco wine to go with our potstickers and an insanely great dessert- their take on a rice krispy. We had the char siu bao, duck leg , udon carbonara, potstickers and some perfect cocktails. Great spot for the pals and the partners! Will be back for the great food, unique cocktails but most of all for wonderful Cece!“

“I loved the assortment of bread they provided since they were buttery and tasty. We got the brussel sprouts which were crispy, soft, and delicious. We got the cod and john dory dishes. The cod was chewy and had lots of shaved truffle on it. The cod seemed over cooked and I thought that dish should have had a bit more vegetable with it. It had potato and thin slices of zuchinni but the potato did not add much texture or flavour and the zuchinni was barely noticeable because it was shaved so thinly. The john dory dish was good, but I would have preferred it without the roe. Their sauces and purees were very flavourful. We got the profiteroles for dessert which were crunchy and quite pleasant. It was a good experience overall and I would eat there again.“

This is one of the top dishes I had this year. Make sure to get some challah to soak up all the dressing!
Also come for a great selection of wine!“

“Parkdale Grows Up (But Keeps a Flask in Its Sock)
Intro Scene
Once upon a 3 a.m. in Parkdale, you’d stagger out of Stones Place with half your shirt untucked and a stranger’s cigarette in your hand. The streets were sticky, the air smelled like tequila and existential crisis, and nobody owned a yoga mat. But things have changed. Now, I sip house wine in daylight, politely request a volume adjustment, and smile at someone’s dog in a sweater. This isn’t the old Parkdale. But damn it, I think I like it.
What Was Ordered
At Happy Coffee & Wine:
Espresso that could file your taxes for you
House red that was light, cheeky, and surprisingly grown-up
A flirtation with a pastry still in the oven
A quiet table under a wood-and-glass canopy where the ghosts of old bars go to detox
Service Commentary
Not a trace of Parkdale’s old barkeep indifference here. The server smiled, listened, adjusted the music, and didn’t once make me feel like I was bothering them. A strange, refreshing experience—like discovering the bouncer at Bambi’s reads Proust.
Vibe Check
This is what happens when the kids from the Stones Place era grow up but still want a little chaos with their caffeine. People here are stylish in an unbothered way. There’s a guy on a laptop who’s definitely editing a zine. There’s a couple sipping orange wine like it's holy communion. The vibe is soft-spoken rebellion.
The Space Itself
Inside: wood slats, mustard stools, wine bottles arranged like they’ve read Kinfolk. Outside: a back patio that feels like you stepped into a tiny Montreal film festival. All light, no ego. You could host a breakup or a book club here, depending on the weather.
About the Neighborhood
This is King West meets pre-gentrified Parkdale, where Tilt Arcade screams across the street and the memory of The Cadillac Lounge lingers like stale beer in a dive bar hoodie. The ghosts of Not My Dog, Wrongbar, and Stones Place still pace these blocks—waiting for a bartender who no longer works here and a jukebox that no longer plays The Clash.
Hits & Misses
✓ Espresso and wine both nailed it
✓ Back patio perfect for quiet plotting
✓ Staff were warm, no Toronto attitude
✓ Space has depth and intention
✗ Not many pastries if you show up late
✗ You might miss the chaos of old Parkdale if you're too nostalgic
Final Verdict
Happy Coffee & Wine is Parkdale’s clean-shaven older cousin who still has “Miss You” on vinyl. It’s soft but sharp, minimal but warm, and just chaotic enough to keep things interesting. If you’re mourning Stones Place, don’t worry—this spot has good wine, good light, and just enough weird to make you feel at home.

“My friends and I were in Toronto for a fundraising event, and decided to get dinner at Gully. All four of us agreed that the food was delicious! I had the butter chicken and I got a mocktini. Both were great and the butter chicken was immensely flavorful.
We were very happy with the service as well. We wanted to try the Indian Street Corn appetizer, and were initially told that it was a seasonal item and it was unfortunately no longer available. However, the owner came over after and told us he had just gone to a market and found fresh corn! We knew after that appetizer that the rest of the meal was going to be great. There’s a reason it’s one of their most popular dishes.
I would recommend making a reservation. We reserved a time for Saturday night and overheard them telling other customers that they were booked for the night. This restaurant is well worth a visit!“

“We visited Margo Restaurant for Valentine's Day, and while the food and ambiance were nice, our overall experience was somewhat disappointing. The first table we were given was uncomfortably cold, so we requested a change. However, it took quite a while for the staff to accommodate our request, which made the experience inconvenient. Additionally, the service was not very responsive, which added to our frustration. Despite these issues, the food was enjoyable, and the restaurant itself had a great atmosphere. With better service and more attentiveness to guest comfort, the experience could have been much better.“

“A Memorable Dining Experience with Exceptional Service:
My husband and I recently visited Scaddabush on a special dinner date after a very long time. We wanted to make sure we have a good time together and I have to say—it was one of the most pleasant dining experiences I’ve had in a while. The food was delicious, the ambiance was welcoming, but what truly stood out was the outstanding service provided by the manager, Natasha. She was interactive, warm and made sure we were comfortable and well taken care of. It’s rare to see that level of attentiveness and genuine hospitality. Kudos to Natasha and staff for going above and beyond. We’ll definitely be coming back (with our little one), and I highly recommend Scaddabush to anyone looking for not just great food, but a truly welcoming experience. Thank you!“

“Highly recommend! The date night special is super worth but also they have buck a shuck everyday? Date night special ($120) is available everyday and includes: snack plate, 2 apps, 2 mains, 2 desserts and 2 drinks which can be changed to wine.
Service was great and my friend and I felt cared for :) Only things that we didn’t care too much about but could be changed were the signage for the place, it looks great but it’s easy to pass by. They also only have 1 washroom but it is wheelchair accessible!
What we got:
Caprese salad
Lobster tail
Flank steak with chimichurri
Cheese board
Pana cota
Lots of oysters!“

“We had a wonderful experience at Tulia Osteria Bar The service was impeccable (thank you Andy!) and the food, amazing. We ordered the Antipasti Board to start and it was well curated and had ample portions. We followed this up a Pizzano pizza and Tagliatelle Bolognese. Very flavourful on both counts. And Pistachio gelato to finish. They are just getting started! Highly recommend. We will definitely be back!“

“Came here with a friend after seeing it on Google maps. Almost walked right past it, but glad I didn't. We sat outside, and everyone was really chill and just enjoying the warm night. We had the empanadas, some bread, and drinks. We enjoyed it all.“
“Cool neighbourhood spot. 15 dollar cocktails, good menu, paper planes, negroni's, old fashions, espresso martinis, all the core ones every good cocktail bar should have. I think it's also a cafe during the day.
They had a live DJ playing some Berlin type music not too loud which was a nice touch. There is some seating space in front of the patio, and next to the building to hang out. Tall beer cans and cocktails are 7-8 bucks which is a good deal. They have some non-alcoholic beers too which is nice.
Inside has that cool vintage hipster Berlin feel to it. No cover, no lineups, just a nice local neighbourhood bar near the bridge and a bunch of other autoshops. Was walking back from an art gallery and we just literally stumbled upon it and sat down for a catch up drink.
I feel like Toronto needs more places like this. Quiet neighbourhood bars with a nice selection of music, quality cocktails, not too expensive, no lines ups. Nice slightly mature place for people to catch up and have a drink without having to venture heavily into the Dundas West bar scene where it's way more hectic. Probably fits like 20 people so it's nice and intimate. Kind of reminds me of some of the bottle shops in Montreal where you can either drink it there and vibe or take it to the park right next to it. Place has some character to it. Would like to see it have a good solid run in Toronto's independent bar scene and be supported by the neighbourhood.
Next time I'm back I'll try out the cocktail menu and see if that's fire too. Can selection was interesting. I got a fruit punch vodka seltzer with 2 grams of sugar which was good. LBGTQ+ friendly but open to anybody really. Still has that cool Dundas West OG grunge premium dive bar feel all the hipsters like me enjoy. Keep up the great work Tommy!“

“The place is super charming, and I was particularly impressed by the cups they use to serve their coffee. It’s clear they pay attention to those little details. They serve coffee from Subtext Coffee, which, in my opinion, is one of the best you can find in Toronto.
On the downside, the café is quite small, and what’s really frustrating is that they allow people to work on their laptops. Because of this, I couldn’t find a seat. I feel the owners should consider restricting laptop use, as a café should be a place to enjoy coffee and conversations, not to work.“

“Man, we hit up this awesome seafood spot for dinner, and it was a vibe! The Branzino Crudo was straight-up fire—so fresh, with those crispy shishito peppers and a pop of sourness from the pomelo that just tied it all together. We also dug the caraflex; it’s got this killer crunchy texture and plays so well with the cabbage.
We went all in and ordered all three pastas. My fave was the Casarecce—super chewy noodles, and the saffron with mussels? Next-level delicious. The Caramelle was wild, like no pasta shape I’ve ever seen, and the lemon zest really cuts through the richness of the ricotta.
For the main course, the trout was crispy on the outside, juicy inside, and those almonds with the sauce? Perfection. The beef brisket was so tender it melted in your mouth, and the radish and grits were the perfect match.
The place had such a great atmosphere, and the service was top-notch. Can’t wait to go back!“
