“What a fantastic restaurant. Atmosphere and service were both on point. Dishes & cutlery changed before every new dish, water always filled, and all the items were described in wonderful detail. They even gave us an extra shrimp for the shrimp cocktail! For the stripped bass dish, they also gave us 2 separate portions of fish, which I noticed wasn’t how they served the dish to other patrons. I’m not sure if this was because they noticed we were sharing all the dishes, but it’s a really nice touch that’s easy to miss if that was the case. This is how you make an extraordinary experience. Grey Gardens does it almost on the level of Alo.

The menu is small but all the dishes are very creative and offer good variety. It’s underrated but the bread here is delicious. The red tail grain they use to make their bread is really delicious and the bread comes out so soft in the center but crispy and chewy on the outside.

Another highlight was the maitake dish. The barely they use at the bottom resembles a chewier risotto and the mushroom itself comes out so smokey. Not sure if this was from the cooking or from the addition of the black garlic in the sauce.

Striped bass was also cooked exceptionally well. I’ve never had fish skin that wasn’t battered and fried come out so crispy like I had here before. I just wished there was more of it. The hand torn lamb noodle dish was also very flavourful and the lamb essentially fell apart within the dish.“

“Second time here. Tasting menu both times. Some repeats (venison, wage) as well as some new dishes. All were very good to exceptional- venison, risotto with white truffles were highlights. Professional, friendly service from all the staff and especially Jordan, the young sommelier. 1 oz pour of D'Yquem 2001- what a treat. Room is opulent and warm. Deserving of their star.“

I came here with 3 of my girlies that love brunch. Everything we ordered was fresh, light, and absolutely delicious.
We started with some drinks which were super affordable compared to other brunch places. The espresso martinis weren’t too sweet and had the perfect balance.

As for the dishes the standout for me was the smoked salmon toast. The combination of the eggs, fresh dill, and sliced salmon on top of toast was so yummy.

Service was nice and the place was cozy/bright. Highly recommend this spot for a girls’ brunch or casual date.“

“This place was pretty nice. Coming here for the first time it was really rustic and felt pretty authentic. The vibes were great. Even tho there was a concert upstairs the music level wasn't too annoying. All the meals we ordered were very gooooood. I really enjoyed the flaming chorizo. The staff were friendly. The cocktails I can't give any review as I didn't order any. But all and all pretty nice place to enjoy.“

“I went to Simpl Things tonight with seven friends. We had the black pepper calamari, steamed bao, mushroom salad, fried chicken, steamed dumplings and chefs platters. Everything was amazing. The fried chicken was perhaps the best I’ve ever had in Canada. The chefs platter steak and sausage were divine. The service and atmosphere were great. Loved the 90’s grooves on Spotify. And the prices are reasonable especially considering the dish quality. Do yourself a favor and give Simpl Things a try. We will be going back.“

“Midfield is my favourite place!! The wine list is wonderful with special descriptions under each wine, there was this wonderful creamy and textured chardonnay blend which I am still dreaming about . Not only a wine bar, midfield is also a food gem in the city! the chef has a farm where the vegetables are grown with love and you can tell, there are very creative/thoughtful dishes with the best seasonal ingredients. I have especially loved when celtuce is in season and on the menu, but year round the salmon crudo in its different iterations always hits the spot.
Beyond the food and wine, the atmosphere is warm and very cozy. Everyone working is always incredibly knowledgeable and passionate, and they seem to have an uncanny knack for recommending what I should drink, its like we have the same palate.

The space is super charming, with plenty of indoor seating, but the real surprise is the outdoor patio - it’s much larger and nicer than you’d expect from the outside. We also tried the Gully’s Tres Leches and it was a fantastic way to end the night! The chef/owner is a very cool and kind guy. 10/10 experience!“

“I found Tutti Matti on Google Maps and like the other reviewers shared, this establishment did not disappoint. My husband and I shared the LoLo Pizza and Brisket Pasta. We finished our meal with the Panna Cotta dessert. My first time trying it and definitely won’t be my last. “Food on the tasting menus was excellent. We shared a non- veggie and veggie tasting menu..all the offering were delicious. Each dish had a l'unique flavour profile and while each menu was designed for one person with 1 large piece of protein, it was large enough to be shared and had ample sauce/ curry. Bread basket was varied and plentiful. Unfortunately, the service was lacking. We were seated, given menus and our order was taken...only to have someone come by 10 minutes later to give us menus again...not realizing our order had been taken. Service was slow. We had planned 1.5 to finish the meal before going to the theatre to give us 30 minutes before the show. We were told that 1.5 hours should be more than enough time. In the end, we only had about 10 minutes to get to the theatre and get settled. (Which worked out as it is right next door- but more rushed than we had hoped). We waited a long time for appetizers after ordering..-30 minutes and then there was a gap between appetizers and meal. We only received the meal at 6:40. We sat with dirty dishes between courses..and the dinner plates where not removed before dessert was served. They removed the empty food plates but not the side sharing plates. We ate dessert (which was delicious) with our dirty dinner plates on the table. Tap water service was slow and never refilled. Finally, the internet was not working and it took approximately 10-15 minutes to get our payment processed after multiple tries. Overall the food was excellent...but service was disappointing - especially for the price point. We are always accustomed to excellent service at Indian restaurants and this left a lot to be desired.“

“We went in for a 5-course Secret Lunch menu and it was one of the best Michelin experiences we've ever had. A lot of that has to do with how quiet it was. As a devoted fan of pisco, I opted for the Message in a Bottle, a daring blend anchored by pisco and vanilla liqueur. “Our favourite date night in the west end. Have been here maybe 10 times+ and have never had a bad meal. The couple who own the restaurant are so passionate welcoming and the food speaks for itself. Also the every night “date night” special is the best deal going in toronto for any couple looking for an elevated dining experience on a budget. Simply the best.“

“Cool neighbourhood spot. 15 dollar cocktails, good menu, paper planes, negroni's, old fashions, espresso martinis, all the core ones every good cocktail bar should have. I think it's also a cafe during the day.

They had a live DJ playing some Berlin type music not too loud which was a nice touch. There is some seating space in front of the patio, and next to the building to hang out. Tall beer cans and cocktails are 7-8 bucks which is a good deal. They have some non-alcoholic beers too which is nice.

Inside has that cool vintage hipster Berlin feel to it. No cover, no lineups, just a nice local neighbourhood bar near the bridge and a bunch of other autoshops. Was walking back from an art gallery and we just literally stumbled upon it and sat down for a catch up drink.

I feel like Toronto needs more places like this. Quiet neighbourhood bars with a nice selection of music, quality cocktails, not too expensive, no lines ups. Nice slightly mature place for people to catch up and have a drink without having to venture heavily into the Dundas West bar scene where it's way more hectic. Probably fits like 20 people so it's nice and intimate. Kind of reminds me of some of the bottle shops in Montreal where you can either drink it there and vibe or take it to the park right next to it. Place has some character to it. Would like to see it have a good solid run in Toronto's independent bar scene and be supported by the neighbourhood.

Next time I'm back I'll try out the cocktail menu and see if that's fire too. Can selection was interesting. I got a fruit punch vodka seltzer with 2 grams of sugar which was good. LBGTQ+ friendly but open to anybody really. Still has that cool Dundas West OG grunge premium dive bar feel all the hipsters like me enjoy. Keep up the great work Tommy!“

“I was walking around after a Jays game. During my travels I stumbled upon a sign outside of this restaurant which said something about a secret patio. I had to try it.

I was greeted by friendly people and a beautiful interior. The patio was also nice and had a wonderful ambience.

I ordered a Negroni and a Shrimp Toast. The Shrimp Toast was so nice. It was crispy and airy. It was a tasty delicate snack! To finish up, I had a Boulevardier. They also gave me some complimentary fresh baby tomatoes. They were good.

The bartender was really cool. He made excellent drinks! I had a very nice time and I want to come back for a proper meal. Pretty neat that this is a Michelin Guide restaurant.“

Of course, the pizza is amazing, but you must try the appetizers like the mozzarella sticks and garlic bread. The atmosphere inside is fantastic, and the patio on College Street has the best vibes.
