“Great food and outstanding hospitality!
Our waitress was very friendly and attentive, made the six of us (one toddler, one 6 weeks old baby, 2 adults, 2 seniors) feel welcome and taken care of, and we were able to enjoy our food which can be quite challenging sometime to dine out with young children. Will definitely be back again!“

“A great mix of traditional and North America style food. A huge assortment of dim sum on a separate menu, some are not for the faint if heart, but overall great for most. The noodle dishes were fantastic, loved the smokey flavour of the Ho Fun. Be earned, lots of oil is used in a lot of the dishes and for some of us this could cause some unwanted digestion issues. Service was fast and friendly and we even got an explanation on some of the dishes that were new to us. Lots of free parking around the corner so even though it's in a very busy area, finding a place to park is not an issue. Restaurant seemed generally clean. It was odd to find it so quiet with most tables empty but most likely it was our timing. Over all a good experience, with the food being delicious, even though it left us with some minor digestive issues but nothing of concern.“

“Possibly the best chinese in town for my money. Excellent food, great prices, huge servings (even the lunch specials are easily two meals depending on how hungry you are) but above all excellent service and friendly staff. They go above and beyond, every time.“

“When you visit your college town, a visit to the University Plaza is a must. Hoping to try a new spot in Waterloo’s university plaza, we came across Xiang Hotpot (160 University Avenue West, Waterloo, ON). A hotpot joint warmly decorated with elegant panels, this place transfers you to a high dining experience while still retaining its affordability for the nearby student population.
When I went there, my friend and I ordered the mapo tofu with a side of rice. The tofu was perfectly tender, soaking up the rich, spicy sauce. The heat from the peppers gave it just the right kick, but the fluffy rice helped balance it out, soaking up all the delicious flavors. Each bite was a perfect blend of spice, savory depth, and comfort. We couldn’t stop talking about how satisfying the meal was!

“I got the cabbage & pork pan-fried dumplings for a simple lunch and now i regret not getting more food!
the staff was kind and i have no complaints for the food. they have a good selection of menu items + drinks that i hope to try soon :)“
“A wholesome family run, stereotypical hole-in-the wall place (Idk even if I should call it a restaurant) and there’s no english to read but the food is good I got the fried chicken and rice was juicy and crispy, funny I couldnt even order because they don’t speak Engish so I just pointed at the menu. If you like Chinese food for takeout and open minded just send it.“

“It’s pretty good to come for a quick lunch, glad they give you endless refill for noodles!
The service is also pretty good, they always come and ask if you need your water refilled! Very clean inside and they have QR scans for menu that you can order from!“

“Tried the beef brisket & handmade noodles dish and was very happy with the selection. I didn't choose the spice level but was very pleased with the flavour. Beef was tender and the noodles were so delicious. It's like a Hungarian goulash with spaetzle but with Asian rather than paprika spices. I look forward to trying the chicken version next time. Staff were efficient and very pleasant. Great place.“
“Even though this store is Chinese food and they understand bits of English the owner is super nice yesterday i was asking about chicken wings then I only ordered a burger combo which i usually get from here the owner packed both the things n was about to charge for both when i said i just asked for wings i don’t want to buy it he charged me for combo n gave me chicken wings for free such great people.“

“The grandma who works here is so incredibly kind. I don't speak Chinese but she made sure to come by and gesture how to eat things correctly and was really sweet the whole time. They offer a free refill of juice and the service was amazing. The guy working here also came immideatly to give his personal recommendations. If you're done your rice they also offer free extra rice and the portions are already pretty good.“

“I rarely give really positive reviews but this is an exception. This is an excellent restaurant without qualification. The food was fresh, hot and delicious. The service was polite, friendly and fast. The decor is attractive, intelligent and works. This is a place I intend to return to.“
