“I live in the neighbourhood and was walking past looking for lunch, and the owner happened to be opening up and told me to try this out. I am glad I listened. The place is clean, the owner is polite and welcoming, the food smelled amazing and tasted even better. You cannot beat the lunch special for that price. And I can’t wait to try more of the menu! I will be making much more visits to this place. Highly recommend.“

“Jonny the waiter was not only attentive, but also so catering to the needs of our group. He made sure our drinks were always topped up during the live band also while caring for a full out door patio. Matty in the back who carried out my steak did an incredible job not only was it cooked to satisfactory but it was above and beyond what my expectations were I had the best experience I could have asked for and would recommend to anyone i possibly could.

I’m still trying to figure out what the dressing on the slaw was because it tasted so fresh and fruity instead of that gross mayo type sauce that a lot of people use. They play Caribbean gospel music and the place is clean (which is hard to find again) and soft spoken lady with good Customer service. Loved it. Only wish is if the food was slightly less sweet would be perfect! Definitely returning and will let others know this hidden place!“

Yes, the oxtail had a lot of bones, but I prefer that over overly fatty, cloying pieces, and the flavour was excellent. The fried chicken was perfection—not too breaded or over-seasoned.
There were about six customers ahead of me, and I still got my food in under 10 minutes. Easily one of the best spots in the city.“

We ordered the oxtail patty and the jerk chicken poutine, and both were delicious. The poutine came with a very generous portion of meat, which we really appreciated. “I went in twice today. I went to inquire about some cocktail patties. I was kind of overlooked the first time but to be fair I was a little aimless. The lady that spoke to me the first time was very knowledgeable and I appreciate her information and suggestions. I came back later and purchased my items. They no longer make cocktail patties. I haven't had these patties in awhile, although they're my long time favorite. They tasted a little different from the ones I sometimes get from my local bakery. I was pleasantly surprised to find there was a good amount of filling. They have a good variety of patties overall. Lots of people were coming in throughout the time I was there. Though the lady was, for some reason not wanting to put gravy on my rice.
She put a scoop n a bit, I’d said you’ll need to put more than that, I like a lot more, it’s just gravy.
I’ve come here for decades never had this issue, nor have I seen her before.
I’d said I don’t want as much peas n rice, I like about half the rice, n more gravy.
The gent who’s usually there has never had n issue.
It’s gravy, on the rice.
She did though, she looked like I was offending her?

You could taste the spices from the skin down to the meat. Bone included! The plantains were soft, sweet, juicy and when you bit into it, the flavor just exploded in your mouth! “My food was superb! It is so hard to find a place where they know how to prepare plantain but it was ripe and cooked to perfection. The curried chicken was also incredible. Service was one hundred percent. I will be visiting every time I am in the area because as I told the server since COVID it is so hard to find good Jamaican food.“
