I’m still trying to figure out what the dressing on the slaw was because it tasted so fresh and fruity instead of that gross mayo type sauce that a lot of people use. I don’t live anywhere near Toronto so I don’t know when I’ll get the chance to visit again, but highly recommend!“

“I love the jerk chicken and good prices but customer service not great. Every time I go there I request a side of coleslaw and say I will pay extra for it. I don't understand why I can't have more than a spoonful of coleslaw??? Last time I got the excuse that there was a shortage of cabbage which is nonsense. It's ridiculous too.

“We live in New Jersey but we have been to Jamaica 30 times or more. I love Jamaican food. This food was as good or better than any food I’ve eaten in Jamaica. There were 8 of us. Between us we had oxtail red bean soup, curry goat, jerk chicken, fried okra, fried plantains, jerk fries with aioli sauce, chicken curry, slow baked jerk wings and 4 of the deserts. Everything was seasoned well. The spice levels were perfect. Savory and delicious. The reception and service were welcoming and enthusiastic. The ambiance felt truly Jamaican. Every aspect of our dining experience was wonderful. Go, you won’t be disappointed.“

“Absolutely so grateful to God I found this place! Best curry chicken I have ever had, so tender and not spicy, but flavorful. “Small restaurant with a super hospitable, approachable and friendly staff. While dining, there was nice reggae music playing in the background. Typical Jamaican restaurant menu with a few unique items and custom drinks. The food was average tasting and well presented. I was educated about the history and how the restaurant was established which was enjoyable. “Gerrys is the spot. I first went there maybe 20 years ago. It was way after close. The owner was out front and I started talking with him. He went in, opened up and fixed me a plate. Every time I go to Toronto, it is the first place I go. Big up Donavon. Always filled my belly and treated me like fam. I wish all businesses ran like this. I am super loyal to them. I no longer live in Toronto, but I always recommend them to anyone I know there. Thanks for being you guys. Best stew chicken around.“

“I just had their Jerk Chicken, Rice and peas with the salad. It was delicious! Not too spicy but has a nice kick, and I really like the salad. Inwas brought here by a friend and I am glad she did because I will be back!!! Good portions for their prices and staff were nice.
Parking: The Plaza is busy and most spots are taken, there was a good amount of parking when I went but I could see it filling up around lunch time.“

“Orlando’ restaurant is a great place if you are looking for authentic, top quality Jamaican cuisine. So far i have been there twice, first time had the oxtail and this time the curry goat. Both times were excellent!!! Today had the added bonus of meeting both Mr. and Mrs Orlando and let me say they are a delight, not only because the make great food but we had a very enjoyable conversation. This is a definite must try!!! You wont be disappointed !!!“

“When I find Caribbean Style restaurants that interest me I generally order the same items all at once to gauge how good the restaurant is to see if it's worth coming back in case I didn't like a particular item. I ordered Curry Goat, Curry Chicken, Curry Shrimp all with white rice and to round off the order half a chickens worth of Jerk chicken. The staff were super friendly and OCHA (the chef) was super enthusiastic about his cooking and even offered me samples of his rice and peas and showed me the real coconuts that he splits open to flavour his rice. The Curry Goat was very tender and obvious care was taken to remove cartilage and undesirable parts of the meat because I didn't get one "bad" piece which is pretty shocking in its own right compared to all the other restaurants. The Curry Shrimp is a favorite order of my wife's and the pieces of shrimp were large and plentiful. The Curry chicken was very good, I have to say though I didnt eat much of it as I was already super full from the goat at this point but the flavors were spot on and not spicy. The Jerk chicken was flavoured very well and wasn't spicy so my two year old age most of it along with the delicious pasta salad. Overall I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys Caribbean food that isn't spicy and will 100% be going back.“

“Sometimes the food is okay but it's a hit or miss. Recently bought a curried goat & Rice dinner Recently, it had too much gravey and the meat seemed as if they scraped the bottom of the pot. “Where else in the world can you find Jamaican-Italian fusion cuisine? Yet, here it is - in Toronto, at Rasta Pasta. Discovered during an evening walk through Kensington Market, I returned on a sunny Friday afternoon. I loved the sign in the interior that read, "The Jamaican and Italian cultures are similar in their love of food and desire to share it with others." Words of truth.
Pushing my own boundaries, I decided to try a dish that I never had the courage to try before: Ox tail.
And it wasn't scary, it was delicious. The meat was tender, and it was "fall off the tail" good. The sauce had a nice tangy edge to it. For a first-timer with ox tail, I could not have been happier. The rice and beans which accompanied the ox tail had good texture, but was a little bland in taste - I was hoping for something with a bit more of a spicy, flavourful kick.
Next time, I hope to try more of the fusion offerings - Rasta Pasta gnocchi with ackee and saltfish.
The atmosphere on the patio, on Kensington Avenue near Baldwin was bustling - people, cars and carts all over the street. Shop keepers and customers all mingling and doing business in every direction. Rasta Pasta gave a front seat to it all - where else would you want to be on a sunny Friday afternoon?

Been here the first time because of multiple recommendations I have found online. For not even 10$ (9.50$ as of June 2024) you will get at at the daily special lunch deal a nice amount of Jerk, Rice with beans, Plantains, Coleslaw and a bottle of water.
The staff was also super friendly and quick.

“Food here was AMAZING! Due to covid this was an Uber Eats order but you would never know it was delivery. The food was hot and fresh! The jerk chicken was moist and full of flavor. You could taste the spices from the skin down to the meat. Bone included! The plantains were soft, sweet, juicy and when you bit into it, the flavor just exploded in your mouth! “Jonny the waiter was not only attentive, but also so catering to the needs of our group. He made sure our drinks were always topped up during the live band also while caring for a full out door patio. Matty in the back who carried out my steak did an incredible job not only was it cooked to satisfactory but it was above and beyond what my expectations were I had the best experience I could have asked for and would recommend to anyone i possibly could.
