“I love supporting small businesses, and the hidden gem, in Carlton, is a must-visit on your next Oregon wine country adventure. Famously delicious lunch, dinner, and Sunday brunch served fresh with regionally sourced ingredients, local Willamette Valley wine, cocktails, and beer, as well as live music on Saturdays. Not to be missed!“

“A Must-Visit Lunch Spot in McMinnville! Every time I visit McMinnville, this restaurant is at the top of my list—and once again, it did not disappoint! In fact, my friend and I loved it so much that we had lunch here twice during our trip. The corn chowder was absolutely fantastic—so creamy with just the right amount of seasoning. My friend enjoyed the ½ Turkey Sandwich, while I devoured the Chicken Cashew Salad, which was fresh and delicious. The broccoli cheddar soup was just okay, but the tomato vegetable soup was a standout, according to my friend. And let’s not forget the in-house wheat bread—fresh, flavorful, and the perfect complement to our meal. Our waitress, Andrea, was incredible! I highly recommend asking for her—she was attentive, friendly, and made our experience even better. To finish, we split a lemon cupcake—our only regret was sharing it! It was perfectly moist, and the cream cheese icing was out of this world. Don’t miss your chance to enjoy an amazing lunch here. Hours: 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM.“

“Dinner at the Joel Palmer House was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere felt effortlessly comfortable—refined without ever being intimidating, and warm in a way that immediately puts you at ease. There’s a quiet confidence to the entire experience, a kind of understated elegance that lets everything speak for itself.
And then there’s the food. Easily the best I’ve ever had. Every dish was thoughtful, beautifully composed, and deeply satisfying without being overdone. The flavors were layered and intentional, showcasing ingredients in a way that felt both elevated and genuine. It’s the kind of meal you find yourself thinking about long after it’s over.
What makes the Joel Palmer House so special is how subtle everything feels—nothing is trying too hard, yet everything is executed perfectly. It’s rare to find a place that balances comfort, sophistication, and truly exceptional cuisine this seamlessly.
An unforgettable experience, and one I’ll be recommending to anyone who appreciates remarkable food done right.“

“I discovered Serendipity Ice Cream during my first visit to McMinnville several years ago. What a find! The ice cream is delicious, portions are generous, the atmosphere is festive (player piano), and the service is always good and staff friendly. Looking forward to moving to McMinnville so I can enjoy it more often!“

“We did the five course with suggested wine pairing. Hands down the best meal of our lives! Every course, every morsel was perfect. The exact amount of everything, cooked to perfection. The maître D’ and table service was top notch, they treated us like royalty. Worth every penny. The Chocolate Torte sample we got with the dessert sampler is beyond description, decadent heaven. Chef Nathan Bates is world class!“

“This is country French cuisine. Plentiful and delicious. They take the comfort food preparation very seriously but true to Oregon, you can show in your Sunday best or jeans and feel comfortable. We celebrate We drive from Hillsboro a few times a year. The staff always warm and friendly. Just go, and make it a special drive date.“

“Unbelievable. A hidden McMinnville gem. In business for 17 years. They make their own tortilla chips which were unlike anything I have ever tasted. Light, warm and crisp. The pork burrito was plentiful (2 meals for an old guy), very moist and tender. Rice and beans were home cooked, fresh and delicious. Service was fast, friendly and efficient. Because of the high ceilings with exposed beams your conversation stays at your table as there is no echo. Prices were very reasonable. You may sit inside or out. Go!“
“If you are craving a sandwich, burger, or salad with a refreshing beverage, this is a place for you. We ordered the prime rib on a Saturday night. It was flavorful and moist. Our CC only critique is that we would have liked a little more variety on the menu. The service was excellent at the pub and cellar“

“UPDATE- We were refunded the original charge and received a gift certificate for $50. Thank you for making this right! We'll be back! We've been waiting over 2 hours for pizza delivery. They never bothered to call to let us know the situation. Terrible delivery service!“

“Hit the McMenamins Pub, McMinnville, Oregon on a recent visit and had a Capt. Neon Burger with tots and a Dirty Shirley.
The Capt. Neon Burger shows up looking unapologetically hearty. A soft, lightly toasted bun cradles a thick, juicy beef patty cooked to a satisfying char on the outside while staying tender inside. Crisp lettuce and fresh red onion add crunch and bite, while the bacon brings smoky richness that anchors the whole stack. It’s a straightforward burger done confidently...no gimmicks, just solid execution. The toothpick through the top is a small detail, but it reinforces that classic pub-burger presentation.
The tater tots on the side are exactly what you want them to be: golden, crunchy on the outside, fluffy inside, and clearly fried with care. Dunked into the generous pool of ketchup, they’re nostalgic in the best way
...simple, salty, and addictive.
The Dirty Shirley is pure throwback fun with a grown-up twist. Served ice-cold in a tall glass, it’s fizzy, lightly sweet, and refreshingly tart. The grenadine sinks and swirls through the clear soda, giving it that iconic pink hue, while the cherry garnish leans hard into retro charm. It’s bright, playful, and dangerously easy to drink less cocktail bravado, more cheerful indulgence.“
