“This place has quickly become one of my favorite brunch spots in Portland. With some of the best pancakes that I have ever had, it will be hard to stay away. My server, Branson, was awesome and provided excellent service. I will most definitely be coming back!“
“Best blueberry muffin I’ve ever had! Delicious breakfast sandwich with free drip coffee, and a very friendly Nana. Vegetarians: when I said I didn’t want meat on my sandwich, she offered tomato instead which I thought was a nice touch! So lucky to have this spot in the neighborhood.“
“Great place to eat with a warm and inviting staff. The food is a must for any breakfast lover your plate arrives at your table hot and fresh to order. Bug portions would highly recommend to anyone local or passing through it is a must eat on anyone's list. I know I am looking forward to going back“
“We like to be safe and warm during the cold rainy days. Coffee is god's bitter apology for everything else. We all want to see a familiar face at the end of a long journey. A knight without a kingdom fights for the one who can understand him. A soldier in peacetime fights the battle in his mind. we are hard shelled on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. When you drop your ice cream on the ground, mother says you can have another one, yet you still cry, fearing the day when there will not be another ice cream, another weekend, a familiar face, a just ruler. The Big City with a Small Town charm. Soft clouds, soft lighting. You can sleep in. All is forgiven. Breakfast goes till 2PMGet the double stack, it will not be too much.“
“One of our favorite spots when we visit the Portland area! Expect a wait but just remember it’s for a reason. Sandwiches come out hot and fresh! Their menu is thoughtful of all dietary needs and there really is something for everyone. It’s incredible how creative they can get with simple ingredients. Just wish I could have these back in Washington!“
“This is a priceless little secret in Sellwood! The food is so delicious. Fresh and fun. The staff are friendly and welcoming and very accommodating. It's very cute inside, but prepare to wait during prime times. Was there today for the first time. I'll be back“
“LOVE that they have vegan egg options. Delicious sauce for dipping the hash browns in and generally just such a fun vibe. Cured my hangover with one greasy bite. Next time I visit Portland I'm absolutely coming back here for breakfast.“
“We had the Boston waffle with PB&J, bananas, and whipped cream. It was delicious and the perfect size as a dessert for two people. Fluffy and light, and just filling enough. The covered portion of the patio was cozy on a rainy winter's day, while still giving a fun food cart vibe. Highly recommend.“
“Today was my first time ever to dine at Jam. Where have I been the last 20 years?!? Congratulations to this beautiful place with such a warm vibe, deeply noted while standing in the sideways wind and rain while putting our names in with a calm and kind woman whom I later found out was the owner. There was a bit of a situation when I hadn’t realized the text came in that our table was ready. By the time we got to the door and the sign said closed, we were perplexed! Okay, maybe it was just me, because I hadn’t realized the text for our table had already come in! The owner was curious where we had been and said that even though they were closed, she would be sure to seat us as she recalled me saying it was our dear friends birthday. Even in the midst of crazy holiday crowds… The service, atmosphere, food, vibe was just what my heart needed today! You know who you are! Keep up the beautiful work- We can’t wait to go back!“
“My friend and I visit here every Friday evening. The staff are always friendly and accommodating. Especially Jason. He remembers regulars, and is very genuinely caring about the people he serves. The servers, including Lupita, are very prompt and nice. Your drinks never go empty! We prefer this location because it’s not only open until 10pm, but because we have had such pleasant experiences with the staff. Food is pretty darn good too! Fresh breakfast meats and French toast! Thank you!“
“The food is incredibly tasty. Each ingredient tastes like it was thoughfully made. Had the Reggie. The chicken was perfectly seasoned, the biscuit was flaky and salty, the bacon had great texture, the cheese complemented everything, and the gravy was wonderful! Listen, put this on yourust try list. Price was totally reasonable too. The only weird thing is that you kind of have to serve your own water and get your own utensils along with bussing your own table. Totally worth it though!“
“Little Griddle is a grand spot for a brunch. My friend Brynn brought me there after we stopped into House of Vintage and we had a great time.I got the biscuits and Gravy sandwich and absolutely loved it. The side salad was tasty and a great appetizer. We also shared the special which was a Cinnamon Toast Crunch pancake. For five bucks it was a great deal and tasty too!The staff were super kind and refilled my water quickly and often.Overall this is a great spot for brunch and I will be back!“
“This place was GREAT! Atmosphere is cool. Visually it's a bit of a Montague, the booths and tables are all old school vintage diner type, and the decor is a bunch of various lumberjack momentous, which is fitting for Portland. The music playing was new age, and the food a bit hipster with flare. I was a little speculative about the menu, not certain I would like it but my buddy insisted we go, he had been many times. I'm always thrown by a wide array of vegan food. Usually tastes good but I like meat. But there was plenty of meat on the menu as well. I had the St. Helen's, my buddy had a burrito, mine was absolutely phenomenal, and he said his burrito was amazing too. Service was very good and attentive, a little slow with the coffee refills, but I can be hard to keep up with so she was great.I will ? come back here and introduce othersParking: Parking lot is tiny. I parked off street.Kid-friendliness: Definitely a place I would bring the kids.“
“I am a bit of a biscuit and gravy connoisseur and this is some of the best I've ever had! Possibly The best. The biscuits are huge, fluffy and tender yet still moist, and delicious! And both gravies are amazing, especially the sausage.I got the Reggie, and the fried chicken was flavorful and not dry at all. My partner got the chicken fried steak--it was a little tough but the flavors were wonderful. The grits are great too!We went on a Saturday morning at 11 and waited about 15 mins at the counter to order and then another 20 or so for food, which I thought was really reasonable for a weekend at a brunch place! It's a bit loud but comfortable and clean.Haven't tried the cocktails but the house made caramel latte was delicious.HOWEVER, I used the QR code at the table to order some extra gravy and a biscuit and we waited FORTY MINUTES for it to come!! Lame. Don't use the QR code I guess. If you like a lot of gravy with your sandwich just order an extra side at the counter because it doesn't come with enough.“
“Okay... I don't just give 5 stars away. But, this place and these people are charming, and if you made it in for the Crab Benedict special, you'd know what it's like to have your tongue tickled in all the best ways. This historic holdout has a place in my heart.“
“Phenomenal experience! My mom and I came to Portland to visit my sister and she brought us to Juniors. Our best choice yet! The service is on point and energetic. We loved our server's effervescent vitality. Our chef Kit was superb. Everything we ate was the best. We had the superhero- vegan, the classic, half vegan and the quiche which was a masterpiece! Everything was perfectly done and added to the magic of Portland.“
“Love this food cart pod! We live in the neighborhood and couldn’t be happier about all the wonderful options here. It’s clean, has covered seating with heaters and so many wonderful options!! So grateful for all the vegan/vegetarian options!!! Thanks! We’ll be regulars!!“
“I ended up here, because the breakfast burrito place I usually frequent wasn't open and this was the first suggestion on Yelp. I wasn't impressed by the bacon breakfast wrap. The texture and taste of the egg, bacon, and potatoes all blended together. It basically felt like it was just an egg wrap. I came a second time because the burrito place I go to was closed again and I really was craving one. I got the breakfast wrap from here with both bacon and black beans and it was a lot better! I felt like the beans added some much needed texture and it had more bacon. I'd definitely get it that way again if my normal place isn't open, but what surprised me were the lemon ricotta pancakes. They were DELECTABLE, the BEST thing I've put in my mouth in a while. They literally almost melted in my mouth, the ricotta added a lot of richness to the pancakes, and the lemon curd was a delicious tart contrast to the creaminess of the pancake.“
“It’s all about the experience. So you want to make breakfast, but out of the house, and without the mess?! Well Slappy Cakes is your spot! Think teppanyaki, but for your morning meal. The actual food is pricey and average, but the spot, especially for bigger~ heavy kid groups is perfection. Make your own pancakes with endless add ons, right before your eyes. Parking is all street, so get there early to avoid the long waits and long walk.“
“My first time trying a full english breakfast!! I have nothing to compare it to so for a first time, it was yummy! Love that I get a little bit of everything--protein, carbs, and veggies. I never realized how much I enjoyed beans on toast. They were able to accommodate the toast for gluten free. I have mixed feelings about the cardboard take out container. On one hand, it's eco-friendly. On the other hand, the bottom got soggy and it was hard to lift out of the bag.“
“Wife and I tried this place recently for the first time and was pleasantly impressed with the quality and service of the restaurant. We went on a weekend and were able to get a table without a reservation. Granted we arrived 2 hours before closing so that might have helped. Either way, we had a nice meal. We will definitely make another trip here again!“
“We're back!We come here whenever we visit our cousins and stay in the same hotel. How cool is it to walk from your hotel, Four Points by Sheraton, to this awesome restaurant?I had the cinnamon roll pancakes, and it was scrumptious. Our waiter was awesome, and everyone had a smile on their faces that said, "I love working here." I am big on customer service, and this is surely a huge factor of good management.“
“We had an excellent breakfast! We both got the bunkhouse vittles plate. Super yummy!Edit: Returned a couple years later and got the same exact thing ? This time with vegan sausage which was just as good if not better! This time got a hazelnut mocha latte, see picture. Extremely good!Vegetarian options: Things on the menu were marked with a red leaf when vegetarian substitutes were available“
“It turns out that I'm a little bit of a meatloaf fan, and I've ordered it here twice; First time was traditional style, the second was dressed up like a burger. The pancakes are not out of control, but if you're not a big eater I'd start with one, and order another if you need it, they can come out of the kitchen pretty quickly.I can also recommend the huevos ranchero with crispy corn tortillas. It was filling, and had that perfect balance of ingredients that so many restaurants seem to get wrong. My better half vouches for the crab cake eggs Benedict, but I find it too rich for my taste.Vegetarian options: There seems to be 2-3 vegetation options, which for a breakfast joint is pretty common.“
“We've been going to Howell's for a long time. Gotta say it wasn't great today. The staff was not very friendly and completely ignored us the first 10 mins we were there. It'll be a minute before we make the drive over again.“
“Damn does this place slap! PDX natives don't know how good they have it. At least for me, coming from Cincinnati where when we say '3-way' it means putting chili and shredded cheese on spaghetti, this place exceeded all my expectations even with my Portland friend's recommendation.I am slowly eating more plant based for the environment and try out the veggie option when there is one. I got the veggie Reggie and a lemon meringue pop tart thing. Full truth: I did not expect to like their mushroom gravy more than I like the sausage gravy I have gotten pretty good at making at home, but so help me god it was the best gravy I can remember having. The lemon meringue thing tasted like it came from a Michelin star restaurant. Damn, now I am disappointed going back to Cincy. This will be my first stop next time I come to PDX! The quality costs some coin but I will be wearing my per diem out every time I am back here.Vegetarian options: The mushroom gravy is from another dimension where flavor is sentient and writes poetry for your taste buds.“
“Came in with 6 of us. Grandkids too. Seated right away. Cozy, nostalgic cafe. License plates lined the walls. Great menu. Had a omelette with spinach and sausage and blueberry pancakes. Hash browns were cooked perfect, not burnt or greasy. Omelette was put together nicely and the pancakes were big with lots of fruit. Server was very nice and checked up. Good bang for your buck too. We'll visit again. You Can't go wrong of There a map of the state as a placemat!“
“Amazing waffles they are absolutely delicious but I cannot get over the fact that they charge for maple syrup(it’s $1.50) for the smallest little travel package of syrup . It’s a waffle place, how are you going to treat maple syrup as if it’s extra ? I ordered two waffles for my self and a friend and they only gave us one maple syrup, said any more would be extra . Take note they told me this after I had finished paying for the waffles so they wanted a whole other transaction. It’s like a hot wings place charging for hot sauce or a cafe charging extra for sugar, a sushi place charging for soy sauce. It makes absolutely no sense. That being said the food was very tasty and was by far one of the best waffles I’ve had, but if I’m paying $20 per waffle I think it should come with more than a table spoon of syrup .Note one year later - they still charge extra for syrup and they’ve raised the prices for a waffle for $4.45. If you order a half waffle they give you one pack of syrup if you order a whole waffle they give you the same pack of maple syrup. If you’re gonna be extremely stingy over maple syrup at least stay consistent with one pack per half waffle .“
“Love going to Elmer's. But the last time they blew it out of the water. My little guy was having a meltdown as we were eating later than normal and schedule was all off. But the cooks and server got our order out faster than ever. Kids loved the food and so did “
