When the new owner's took it over this year, we were concerned about whether the comfortable, flavorful, "homestyle" experience we were used to would remain. The new team has done great! The staff is super friendly and working hard to make people feel welcome, learning names of regulars, and carrying on a place with a great reputation. “We absolutely loved having our 55-person wedding at Bar Carlo. The owner Mel is at the same time very supportive and very low-key, which made for a smooth planning process and day-of event. The space is gorgeous, and has multiple connected wings, which allowed for the the party to morph seamlessly over the night from barside cocktail hour to outdoor patio ceremony to dinner buffet to dance floor. The space is already a beautifully decorated artwork, and Mel lets you decide how to arrange the space for your event, but you can also bring your own decorations/sound system/llama and she can handle those additions easily. The food and drinks were delicious too, and Mel was able to accommodate our entirely vegan and gluten-free menu without hesitation. Overall we loved the unique-ness, flexibility and good vibes of the space and the people of Bar Carlo, and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a cute and fun space for their wedding or other event. -Nicola & Lou“

“One of my favorite places to grab coffee when I am in the area. The staff are always incredibly kind and the espresso is always dialed in well. I typically like to order a hot mocha. I do wish they has just a tad more chocolate, as last time, I couldn't taste it. Other than that, this is a cute little spot to grab a coffee!“

I drove 15 minutes out here for their breakfast sandwich and was told they don’t serve them this close to closing. Just would be nice if they had it posted is all. Every thing else was good.

“I love Phin caphe, they used to close early before the business time like, their store close at 6 PM, but they closed at 5 PM because there were no customers, majority of the citizens working 9-5 and they closed at 5 PM, how can we have time to go there and order or even hang out with friends? I wish the store close late, like around 9 or 10 PM. But, I still give thema a 5 stars because they got good Vietnamese coffee“

“We got the coffee flight, coconut, banana, and salted. I love the strength of Vietnamese coffee, and it was balanced well with these flavors, which weren’t overbearing. The coconut was really refreshing, the salted was delicious but I would finish it prior to drinking the other, sweeter drinks. The banana was our favorite!!“

“Elevator Coffee in NE Portland was recently named the best coffee in the United States. Never tried it, so I ordered a couple bags of beans and had them shipped to my place. Got a bag of Counterweight Blend and a bag of Lift Blend. Delicious“
