“The food tasted great, but not all of it was hot or moist. The bbq chicken was really dry & cold. The bbq ribs were dry & not fall off the bone. They have two kinds of brisket moist or tender & the tender was dry, but the moist was delicious & tender. The beans were cold & not very good, but the cole slaw was delicious which is hard to find in a restaurant. You can order sandwiches if you want to eat light or a meat salad which some people did & said it was delicious. The French fries were hot & very nasty. A meal with a drink will cost you just over $20 a person, but you will leave full. The picture is my plate of moist brisket, cole slaw, French fries & the piece of bread you get. You pick your meat, two sides & it comes with bread.“

“We have tried Salt&Straw at various locations and states. Very consistent across it all.

Open concept design. Benches against giant windows to feel the breeze (it was a hot day). I’m sure wintertime they shut it tight. Bathroom inside (need a code).

The staff were very patient and friendly. You can ask as many samples as you want. Even if there’s a line, it usually move fast. Creamy, strong flavor, good quality ice cream.

The menu has interesting options. Even though we have been to many locations, we still haven’t tried them all. There are tubs and merchandises on display if you like a souvenir.“

“What a gem of a coffee shop!! We are so glad we tucked in for a cup of coffee. The coffee is delicious and the latte art is so cute. In this case I was blown away by the flavor and feeling of comfort my meal provided. The spices were apparent, but not so much you couldn’t taste the dish. It was filling, but not heavy or greasy. Will definitely come back.“

Congratulations on the second location in Hillsboro. I’ve been going to the Portland location for the past three years, and it’s always been one of my favorites. Family-owned, consistently good, and the owner has always been incredibly kind and welcoming.

It’s exciting to see the expansion, and you can tell there’s a lot of heart behind this business. The food continues to deliver with rich, flavorful broth and quality ingredients that keep me coming back.

“It's absolutely a 5 star place. This is simply a marvelous find! It is now my go to place to meet up with people and have a cozy visit. They have an entire wall of teas from which to choose, and knowledgeable, informative, and patient staff; very helpful for folks like me who don't know much about teas but are happy to learn. A marvelous ambience; warm and inviting. And in addition to the teas, they have a guitar and a piano, if you want to play, in addition to a couple shelves of family friendly games or books to be used if you're in the mood. I have been ordering from here for about a year now and Eva, the shop owner, is so nice. She provides excellent customer service and the shipping is pretty quick. “I honestly wish I could give this place 1000 stars because they actually listened. I asked for half noodles, extra protein, light oil, and extra vegetables and they delivered it exactly how I wanted. Not “kind of,” not “close enough”… but perfect. You can tell they care about their customers and pay attention to details, which is rare these days.

The dish was flavorful without being heavy, fresh, and balanced in a way that made me feel good after eating!
That level of respect and execution? Yeah… that’s what keeps people coming back.

“I've been gluten and dairy free since 2021... not by choice. That's also the last time I had baked goods that actually tasted like they were supposed to. I tried several items from Gem Bakery including: cupcakes, chocolate cake, glazed donut, caramel brownie, chocolate cookie, and bagels. Oh my goodness, they were just how I remembered them tasting! Texture was spot-on, flavor was delicious, and I wouldn't have known the desserts were gluten and dairy free at all. There were no gritty or gummy textures in the wheat flour replacement and there wasn't an overwhelming coconut flavor where dairy was replaced. I hope to return to this basket every time we visit Portland!“

“Our family of 3 made a reservation easily on Open Table. We were seated readily upon arrival! The atmosphere has great mood lighting, live plants, and candles burning. The food was absolutely divine! The plates, flatware, and glassware were high quality. Each dish was plated artistically and beautifully balanced in appearance and flavor. We ordered the short ribs, chicken skewers, bruschetta and empanada de carne. Every dish had several elements to “ooo and ahhh” over! Many bites are still lingering for all 3 of us! Service was impeccably timed and led to a welcoming experience. One thing that wouldn’t have bothered me or my husband, but did bring anxiety to our 10 year old was a family of flies on the windowsill and plant collection. He struggled to relax at dinner because it them. Also, the napkins were a beautiful color with soft fabric, but the woven style caused an uncomfortable, long fuzzy texture throughout. Neither of those would keep me from returning to the restaurant nor would it keep me from recommending it to everyone!“
