As a confirmed hotel junkie, I am charmed by the setting, the attention to detail, its history and the book collection! Orignally built in 1909 and operated under many names, in 1984 it was renamed the Sylvia Beach Hotel for the owner of Shakespeare & Co. in Paris. Sylvia Beach first published James Joyce’s “Ulysses”. She became his friend and an amazing bookseller. The hotel has been extensively renovated, and honors Sylvia Beach with the literary theme and the book collection. If you stay here, I can pretty much guarantee that you will find something on the shelves that will make you say “Oh, I’ve always wanted to read that!”.“
