Bryn Mawr's best places for Mexican cuisine are in our list.
“I always get the adobo chicken salad. Last time they gave me the sugar chicken and upcharged me for it but corrected my order ... not the upcharge... which was fine because they were busy. The salad used to be the perfect balance of ingredients but now they have downsized the bowl which throws everything off. I tried to compensate by asking for smaller amount of toppings but the spoons are the same size so i ended up with a soggy mess and very little lettuce. They need to shrink the meat and topping spoons too so it balances. The restaurant itself has been recently remodeled and looks nice.“
“My son and I stopped in for a late lunch and found this store front restaurant to be very friendly and clean. The service was prompt and the Burritos we ordered were the largest we've ever seen and very good, and reasonably priced. The shiny decorative tabletops inlaid with Mexican patterns added to our pleasant dining experience. We highly recommend this restaurant when you're in the area.“
“I could rave about the food and drinks here all day, every day. My friend and I ordered the Plato Mixto to share and I had the Mahi Mahi tacos for my entree. Soooo good. We sat at the bar with Silvia, the bartender, and she made the BEST mango habanero margarita. Ambiance is great and staff is lovely.“
“We came for a large work dinner and everything was phenomenal. Our waiter, Greg, was incredibly personable and friendly. He knew the menu and made great recommendations. We were laughing the whole time. The food as well was fantastic--some of the best fajitas I've ever had. Will definitely be back next time we're in town!“
“It's an authentic mom & pop Mexican trattoria , which is a must visit. Esp for their Buffalo pizza, of all things. It's the best pizza I've eaten, maybe due to the fact that it was made in a wood fired ovenOur nachos were a bit too drenched in cheese , but it's a personal choice.Soup was good and warmRed snapper was crispy and baked to perfection in the wood fired ovenEnchiladas were made with corn tortillas, but delicious.I'd love to come back. The host/owner is a delight to meet. His love and care in food prep, service and customer dealing is warm and jovial.“
“Really great, inventive haute cuisine real Mexican; well executed thoughtfully prepared. Might have slipped a bit since my initial visit, but that could just be me being super impressed first go-around. Quite noisy on the weekends, be prepared to wait for your cocktails.“
“This is some of the best food around in Philly. The waiter here made some suggestions to what we should get and it did not disappoint at all. Would definitely come back here to try something else from the menu and I'm sure it will be just as good.“
“Cantina “Calaca” Feliz, located in the Fairmount section of Philadelphia, is a vibrant spot that brings a contemporary twist to traditional Mexican cuisine. This lively eatery is celebrated for its fresh, high-quality ingredients that transform simple produce, fish, and meat into an array of flavorful dishes. From the pork Al pastor tacos to the Smothered Burrito, each menu item is a testament to the restaurant’s commitment to culinary excellence. The atmosphere is equally delightful, described as bustling and fun, providing the perfect setting for a casual yet memorable dining experience. With friendly service and a menu that caters to various tastes, Cantina “Calaca” Feliz stands out as a neighborhood gem where food and culture blend seamlessly.“
“The food was excellent! I ate the nachos and veggies burrito. We ate at the upstairs bar and the bartender was great with recommendations for drinks and add-ons for food. It was funny to me that the decor is more old fashioned diner than Mexican restaurant, but it worked.“
“I have been going here since they opened. I really do love the food, drinks, and the fun interior. The service however always leaves something to be desired. The people are friendly but absent. I often have to wait to even be asked if I want a drink let alone food to start. I am not sure if it is a problem with not enough staff or inexperienced staff. Overall, the staff needs to be more attentive to customers. The music choices are completely fine but please, please turn it down. I was torn between 3 or 4 stars. I went with 4 bc there really is so much potential here. Bottom line, increase attentiveness and decrease the music volume and we got a phenomenal restaurant!“
“I was in the neighborhood to drop off and pick up my kid at an urban air birthday party. Popped in to grab lunch while I waited. So glad I did! Chilaquiles were delicious and a huge portion. Staff were all great too. Can’t wait to come back!!!“
“Food was great!! We tried the ceviche, guacamole, quesabirria, enchiladas con mole and chalupitas. It was all great food! We were able to spend time with the chef and he's such a sweet funny person. It just added to our experience. The service was smooth quick and polite! Parking can be tough and it may get busy bc the food is great but it's definitely worth trying this place out!“
“My favorite place for lunch. In 2023 I decided to limit eating takeout and fried fast foods. One place I will make adjustments to my lifestyle of eating healthy is California Tortilla. There food is always fresh and my favorite is Blackened fish taco. Good Job guys!“
“I would give 6 stars if I could!!! Such a great addition to Havertown! The food is delicious, love the vibe and the service is amazing!!! The pineapple express wings were AMAZING! I saw some instagram stories saying to get them and our server Marissa (who was the sweetest by the way) sealed the deal by saying awesome they were- she was right!!! I am not a huge wing person and could have eaten 20 of them! The guac is so good and fresh; served with warm chips. My husband and I both got fajitas- shrimp and steak, soooo good! Also the cucumber marg was great, strong (not mad about that) and delicious! Adding this in because my husband is a huge sports guy- the Phillies ended and within minutes they put on March Madness games- no awkward gap where you're watching infomercials for hours (it is his pet peeve haha). So happy that Al Pastor is in town! Can't wait to return!“
“came in on a friday afternoon for an early dinner. no wait, BYOB, reasonable prices, and truly unlimited chips/salsa (the chips are freshly fried tho!) that I could honestly get full off of with a good drink imo not as good as some of the mexican food on the other side of the river, but if you're in ucity and crave a solid burrito, this is a cute spot! ended up as $21/pp after tax and tip and we had some leftovers too!“
“We ordered a torta al pastor and enchiladas verdes. Everything on both plates was delicious except for the chicken in the enchiladas, which was not so good, but I was still very happy with the meal. I wouldn't recommend dining in if you're looking for a quiet eating environment, though - it was pretty noisy in the restaurant between the loud salsa music and the loud thumping (??).“
“This place is amazing , I’ve never experienced such a good service and food it was just perfect . The food was delicious, the service was fast and so good, the margarita was on top, the manager and the people did a great job by helping us choose, the music was not too load, place was clean, parking lot available, bathroom smelling good … I mean .. this place is perfect !“
“The place is really good. Food is good and the atmosphere is very pleasant. We went in around 6 and they had an hour of waiting. We went there and the workers were very sweet and polite. They were also very quick with their service. My friend spilled her water and they cleaned it all up within 2 mins. It was crazy and very impressive! I will recommend this place, especially for their service.“
“I love this restaurant! We had a birthday party here for 25 people, and Karina and Angel are so kind and they did an incredible job. They made great mixers for our tequila, and the food was absolutely delicious and so plentiful! They were responsive and easy to work with while planning, and we felt so welcomed in the restaurant. They even set up balloons and a "happy birthday" banner. Highly recommend Los Cuatros Soles for dinner or for a party.“
“my first time stepping into this restaurant and the attentive service was just as GREAT as the delicious food i was servednot too many places render both great customer service and great food but this place does THANX TO ALEJANDRA CABRERA for making my visit welcoming ? i definitely will stop again and recommend this place hands down“
“One of the best experiences I've ever had dining out. The staff worked like a team, never missing a beat. The fresh guacamole made table side was amazing as was the cheese dip and entrees. Super friendly staff and delicious food scores this a 10 out of 10 for us! Well done!“
“Vegetarian options: The food was yummy. Even though the menu doesn't have a separate label for veg, non-vegan, or vegan, you can customize the order. Valerie was kind and respectful. She made that the order was right and provided suggestions on what's the best. Overall, it is a place was stopping by to have an amazing meal.“
“I've been in here quite a few times and I've always had a good experience. The food is always good. Serena I think her name is, is a sweet pleasant young lady she was very kind the last time I was in there. The atmosphere is nice especially on a great weather day. Y'all should check out the deck!!!“
“The food was great. I can't say anything more than that 5 stars all around. Question: Is this place still active? The website is not working, and neither is any of the phone numbers, but the Google listing said it's open. As of March 2024“
“I stopped here a few times ago, and it never disappointed me. Today, I was in the mood for a burrito and didn't mind driving the one hour from my house. Thank you for the great service. Also, if you guys have any questions, you can chat with them on Google.. they answer supper fast.“
“I live in Berks County but make the trek to Hidalgo whenever possible. Not a fancy place but very authentic & the food, service & staff are very, very good! We ordered Ceviche, Guacamole, taco's & soup for apps (4 of us dinning) and that were all really tasty & fresh. Ceviche was top notch!. Our entree's were very flavorful and the portion size is great. It is BYOB so bring your Tequila and let them make one of the best Margaritas you will taste. If you're lucky you will get to hear the lovely owner serenade the restaurant with Spanish singing! She's really a great singer and her performance adds to the atmosphere and dining experience! Check then out.. you won't be disappointed!Parking: Parking garage is right down the street for no more than $4“
“Awesome brunch! Great atmosphere and music. The staff is welcoming, attentive and makes the experience five stars. The food and drinks are consistently amazing! Definitely a place you’ll come back to again and again! The GM Steve is the best and wants foodies to have the best experience and it shows!“
“We dined outside in a pleasant and relaxing atmosphere. The service and food were excellent. We enjoyed delicious coffee and a wonderful breakfast, freshly prepared and pleasantly served. We will be visiting again very soon.Vegetarian options: Fresh avocado and delicious gluten free toastDietary restrictions: Gluten free bread was an added surpriseParking: Parking very easy“
“The portions are big my bowl was really big. We also ordered a burrito, fries and a slice of the churro cheesecake. The fries look seasoned but taste like normal fries. The cheesecake looks sugary but it tastes like normal cheesecake. Definitely would go back and try other things. Very good flavor in the bowl and burrito.“
“Authentic, cheap and super tasty Mexican food!! Loved how friendly the staff was and the music playing made me feel right at home. Went with an order of 3 different tacos on their super soft flour tortillas that were charred perfectly and topped with a good amount of cilantro and raw onions. The barbacoa(pulled pork) was my favorite out of the three because of how flavorful, tender and juicy the meat was. Could eat that with plate of rice and beans every day easily. The tinga and the lengua were also super delicious and must try options when coming here. Those sauces tho they have at every table just made the tacos even better. Loved the spicy red sauce and the green sauce chilled it down just a tad to add a beautiful balance that made every taco a delight.“
“Authentic Mexican cuisine at its finest! The corn tortillas are made fresh daily, and each dish is made-to-order. The owner is as hospitable as can be, and demonstrates a well-deserved pride for the food. This place has become one of our favorite restaurants in Philly. A hidden gem.“
“This place is awesome. Great little family owned taco and burrito spot. Got a delicious chimichanga and my friend enjoyed his huevos breakfast (available all day apparently). Very good value for the food as well. Will definitely visit again when in the area.Vegetarian options: Most items are available as vegetarian.“
“I'm not from this town! But I love to eat, I had to check this little spot filled with bilingual woman who make their own cream for tacos n such! I liked it ? I have to go back AGAIN to make a fo'sure decision here's a little pic of what I ate 3 ? tacos and beans. My friend had a chicken sandwich ? “
“As a Mexican American from Southern California living in the Philadelphia area, it is difficult to find good authentic Mexican food and groceries. This place has both. It's obvious from the minute you see it, smell it, and take a few steps in the door. They have everything you could want, a decent prices, and very high quality.I've only eaten in the restaurant once, but both of the pozole, and the menudo were absolutely fantastic. I will certainly be returning for more.“
“It was my first time visiting. Joined friends for happy hour. Had a fish taco. I think it was made with a fish stick?.Nice atmosphere. Good service. Very good prices for mixed drinks.I would visit again because it is close to home & has an inviting atmosphere.“
“Walking in without a reservation on a Saturday night, we were faced with a 1 hour wait. Yet, thanks to the speedy service, we were able to get a table within 30 minutes. The flags draped across the restaurant, accompanied by the fitting themed music in the background created a fantastic atmosphere that excited me for my meal. I do wish there was slightly more light inside, as I dislike dimly lit dining. I always want to see the delicious food I’m eating. The service was fantastic, with our lovely waitress referring to us as “friends,” always greeting us kindly and checking in on multiple occasions. We were served quickly after ordering. I got chips and guacamole as well as chicken tacos. Though I wish they served more guacamole, I still found it to be delicious: the perfect balance of lime and avocado. The chips, while slightly overcooked, were perfectly salted, rendering the chips and guac as something unbeatable. The chicken tacos were the perfect quantity of food, filling me up but not to the point of sickness. The flavors were excellent, making the experience unforgettable. My two friends who accompanied me got burritos and both throughly enjoyed them.“
“The food is absolutely delicious and affordable. I'm impressed by how quickly they prepare everything! Also, the staff is very kind and willing to answer any questions you might have. I enjoy the chicken tacos, which are packed with flavor. The burritos are wonderful as well. They sell Jarritos sodas (I like the guava flavor.) Highly, highly recommend this authentic, laid-back neighborhood gem!“
“My husband got the pork with rice and salad and I'll myself got steak stew with rice and beans and avocado. The serving was plenty enough to fill you and take her. The taste was very good. I would recommend anyone to come and taste there's food. Besides the food this place is so beautiful scenery. I love it, and love the five it has like the music and people being happy“
“Nestled within the bustling King of Prussia Mall, Plaza Azteca offers a tantalizing array of Mexican cuisine that promises to satisfy any craving for south-of-the-border flavors. The menu is a treasure trove of classic Mexican dishes, featuring everything from sizzling fajitas to cheesy enchiladas and flavorful tacos. I opted for the carne asada tacos, and they were nothing short of spectacular. The tender, well-seasoned beef nestled in warm, handmade tortillas, topped with fresh salsa and guacamole, made for a truly mouthwatering experience. Despite the friendly demeanor of the staff, the slow service was a significant downside to an otherwise enjoyable dining experience.“
“So happy to see one of my favorite food trucks is back! Food still slaps after all these years. Love the chicken katsu, which is so crispy and juicy, and I enjoyed a delicious platter today. You can choose tacos, burrito, platter or a burger for the protein options. The peanut curry chicken over rice is also phenomenal but only available on Monday and Tuesday. I’ll be back soon for that plus some shrimp katsu. The folks on the truck couldn’t be nicer!“
“Finally, a great choice for casual, decent Mexican has opened in MtAiry/Chestnut Hill! Very good guacamole--and the pork carnitas never disappoint. We've stopped in several times since they opened last year and the service and quality have been consistently excellent. Thanks for opening on Germantown, El Limón“
“I have been a loyal customer of Tacos Don Memo for over a year now, and I can honestly say that they have the best tacos in town. Their food is fresh, authentic, and delicious. Their service is fast, friendly, and efficient. Their prices are reasonable and fair.“
“this place was sooo good! just a random. Google search of 'food' and this place came up. we were just looking for some food on our way to the train station. this place was quick, very good, tastes fresh, service was awesome and so polite. just all around pleased. I wish I had pictures but the food didn't even make it to the train station... which is like down the street.. it was that good. ??Dietary restrictions: I told them about my allergy and they took it seriouslyParking: the only reason I said somewhat is because we got lucky and found parking right outside the front door.“
“Please get the chicken quesadillas if you go here for dinner(you definitely should). They were absolutely gaseous. Made my taste buds tingle. Service was amazing for such a large group. Price was not bad at all. Server was an absolute goat. Highly recommend.“
“The tacos here were so delicious, with really flavorful sauces and super fresh veggies. The addition of radish and cucumber really added to the experience! Unfortunately, the tres leches left some to be desired, but other than that everything was phenomenal and I will definitely eat here again next time I am in the area!“
“My friends and I go to El Jefe almost every week, and we love this place. My friend comes from the same town in Mexico as one of the cooks, and that friend says it’s very authentic. The owner is extremely friendly and loves his customers. The wings are great, and I usually get six chorizo tacos every time I go and they are FANTASTIC. The man doesn’t skimp on the tacos either, they always come out FAT!?“
“my husband and i love this place! we go there pretty often when we have a hankering for texmex. though parking can be a pain, service is always friendly. we’ve had ok meals and great meals but never a bad meal. GREAT FOR DATE NIGHT!Parking: parking lot same as for suburban square with a short walk or street parking. make sure to pay for street parking.“
“Had a ton of fun here! 2 complimentary margaritas, woot woot! The atmosphere is amazing, the staff is super friendly, and the food is swell as well. Chips and guac were awesome, I also enjoyed the pork enchiladas. The flan was slightly on the sweeter side but, make no mistake, was a great way to end the meal. Overall, a wonderful establishment!“
“Fantastic food for such an affordable price. This is a very authentic restaurant with food that tastes fresh and is served very professionally. I went there with my partner and we had a wonderful time. Only big drawback is that parking is hard to find. I highly recommend the Horchata- mine was served to me in a plastic soup container, but that's $6 worth of drink and I'm still sipping it on the way home. You really get your money's worth and more here!“
“Don Mezcal was an incredible experience. Right as you walk in, you can feel the amazing atmosphere. The food and service are also amazing, and I was taken away by the quality of the food. I would definitely recommend Don Mezcal to someone, as it was amazing.“
