The pasta was serve perfectly al dente, the claims must have just plucked from the sea! Sebastian our waiter was attentive and friendly. (We were the only patrons on a Thursday night!) Sampan is linked, and this location is typically busy. Since the dining room was downstairs, there was a kind of nice corridor leading to it. You and your group can choose from a small variety of dishes to share at the table during restaurant week, with some items having an additional fee. There was a stronger romantic vibe. “I've been here a few times, it's a fun place to bring people because of the whole speakeasy vibe. They don't take reservations so it's hit or miss if you can actually get in. Drinks are hit or miss for me too. Over time I've done drinks from the menu and the bartenders choice. I know it sounds silly but I really dislike the ice they use! It's like ice chips which cheapens the drinks, which seems to go against the suave swanky vibe. I got the pickle mule this time though and really liked it.”

Stellar service, I tried things I never normally would like the scrapple (not a fan of it generally), it was a little piece of heaven! All the food is small bites for tea service. “An exceptional dinning experience, but getting in is a bit tricky. The restaurant opens advanced online bookings in intervals of two week blocks, on the Sunday prior. There are two seatings each night, 6:30pm and 8:30pm. If you can’t get a reservation for the released block time, you can request to be added to the wait list. That’s exactly how I received my dinning spot. The experience is intimate, warm and friendly. It truly is like being invited to a friend’s house for dinner, except your friend won’t be serving you these yummy dishes. The food creations are amazing and the courses numerous. The chef announces each dish before it’s served, explaining the ingredients and inspiration. They also provide an extensive wine list and delicious craft cocktails. Highly recommend!”

Our server was nice, attentive, and welcoming, and she was the best part of the visit. She gave good recommendations, and checked in on us frequently. The restaurant also played a good selection of music which gave it a nice vibe. I wish they put on their physicaly menus that the meat is halal. They have this stated on their website, but not on the physical menu so some of our party was not aware.This would have been a 5-star visit had it not been for the seating arrangement and for what happened at the end of the visit. To give some context, we made a reservation in advance for our party, and you would think that for an advance reservation they would take care with the seating. I was not satisfied with where we were seated - our table and seats were cramped, and there was a table right next to us that could accommodate us better. Our table felt really enclosed, practically holed between 3 sides of walls. We thought the table next to us was perhaps booked for another party and that is why they didn’t seat us there. No. We were wrong. For the entire duration, no one was seated at the table next to us, so I don’t understand why we couldn’t sit there. We would have been more comfortable there. Oh well, nice to know for next time.At the end of our dinner, we had given the server our cards to pay for the check, and while we were waiting for our cards, a guy came over (probably the manager), and basically was ushering us out. Although he was being polite about it, it still soured the taste because of course we will leave after we get our cards back. Shouldn’t he have checked with the server about the status of the table before coming to us and tell us that they need to clean the table for the next group and we need to leave? He said it more diplomatically, but basically using the same words here. It left us a bit shocked because we were ready to leave, just waiting for our cards.”
