If you are not put off by the fact this is primarily a local spot for folks from the neighbourhood then the other patrons and staff was friendly. Beer was $2.50 a bottle and a shot of Hennessy was $5. The shots look small to the eye but are measured with their auto dosing system. A great value night cap on the way back to my hotel.“

“My husband took me out to Philly for an early Mother’s Day gift. He said we were going to a “speakeasy” type bar in Chinatown but I didn’t believe him. When we got to an iron screen door, he was like this is it and I was like you got to be kidding me. The owner came out, asked my husband if he knew it was a cash bar took our ids then went inside. The owner brought back our ids then took us inside to a foyer where he told us the rules of the bar. Cash only, absolutely, no photography and no phones. If you need to take a phone call, you go back to foyer area or outside to not disturb people. We agreed to rules and went inside. The bar was dimly lit with candles on each table. The decor was amazing with pictures and antiques on the wall. We were sat at a table and given a cocktail menu. The cocktails were unique and separated by whiskey, gin, vodka and rum. If you need a light since it is so dim in the bar, they will bring you a light because they brought one to my husband. There were no beers on the menu so if that is what you’re looking for then this isn’t the place for you. We ordered our cocktails and they were amazing. Since there is no phone usage, you have more of an intimate experience with the person you are with because you aren’t distracted by your phone. We sat and talked while drinking our drinks. The owner came over and asked us about our drinks and how we were doing. We then ordered another round of drinks and continued talking. We enjoyed our time at Hop Sing Laundromat. Service was great, bartenders were great, owner was great, and the ambiance was amazing. This is a great date night spot for anyone who wants to enjoy a intimate setting with a cocktail or two. We had spicy pork bun, gyoza, scallion pancakes, and the chicken cumin noodles. All were good but definitely recommend the buns and cumin noodles in particular!

The bar has a cabinet full of games, the vibe was easygoing, and everyone seemed to be having a great night… until a large group rolled in behind us. It was pretty obvious this wasn’t their first stop of the evening. (No one cared — it was a Saturday in the city — but a couple of them were teetering on that “any minute now” blackout line.) Sure enough, within minutes one of the guys started loudly berating a woman he was with — uncomfortable and completely unnecessary for a night out.

While her own group ignored it, Mia didn’t. When the guy wouldn’t knock it off, she stepped in to check on the woman and make sure she was okay. The rest of the group didn’t appreciate that, and things escalated. Mia and the other bartender, Seth, handled it calmly and professionally, and the group was eventually asked to leave.

What really stood out was how Mia didn’t hesitate to put a stranger’s well-being over the potential profit of a 10-top on a Saturday night. She could’ve ignored it and cashed in — but she didn’t. And the rest of the staff fully backed her. That kind of integrity is rare, and it deserves to be recognized.
