“I've been here a few times, it's a fun place to bring people because of the whole speakeasy vibe. They don't take reservations so it's hit or miss if you can actually get in. Drinks are hit or miss for me too. Over time I've done drinks from the menu and the bartenders choice. I know it sounds silly but I really dislike the ice they use! It's like ice chips which cheapens the drinks, which seems to go against the suave swanky vibe. I got the pickle mule this time though and really liked it.“

The only issue is that you have to go all the way to the basement to use the restroom and you aren’t able to take the stairs to exit out the first floor. The happy hour food is great, but the drink offerings and discounts are thin. Something to be aware of: the “dirty double” martini is not actually a double, so that’s kind of misleading. “Came here for brunch this last weekend. What a lovely experience! Mind you I don't really approve of brunch - half the stuff you can make at home for 3/4s the price. But this place was great! Staff were so nice, patient and helpful. Small but good drink menu with delicious non alcoholic options as well. We had the biscuits and apricot jam and goat cheese fritters as appetizers. Fritters weren't overly salty which I was worried about. Nicely fried with a refreshing apple jam. Biscuits were excellent - nice and flaky. I had the biscuits with mushrooms eggs and potatoes. Eggs were cooked well but still had a bit of runniness to them. The mushrooms were delicious and it all came with this cilantro dressing. Potatoes were also excellent with some peppers thrown in for good measure. It was so hard deciding what to get because honestly everything, especially the savory dishes, looked fantastic. Prices were reasonable, great experience and even though it was brunch and close to their breaking time before dinner, we didn't feel rushed out at all. Highly recommend them!“

I am not a huge wing person and could have eaten 20 of them! The guac is so good and fresh; served with warm chips. My husband and I both got fajitas- shrimp and steak, soooo good! Also the cucumber marg was great, strong (not mad about that) and delicious! Adding this in because my husband is a huge sports guy- the Phillies ended and within minutes they put on March Madness games- no awkward gap where you're watching infomercials for hours (it is his pet peeve haha). “I used to come here 30 some years ago when it was Sonoma. It has been several other restaurants through the years but this is the best by far. There are 2 bars. One on the first floor that has retractable windows to open up to the outside. Then there is my favorite bar upstairs. Light, airy, nicely painted walls with olive leaves and glass ceiling. There is a happy hour Monday to Friday, 4 to 6pm. All their signature crafted cocktails are $7 and they are delicious. Our bartender, Jeff, was welcoming and very knowledgeable about his craft. Love that they use a lot of local products. There are other drink options (see my menu photo below) and fun food items. We ordered 2 pizzas (shrimp and artichoke and the pepperoni). Both were fabulous.I will be returning again for their in house made pasta and I can't wait.Parking: People often think that parking is difficult in manayunk but there are plenty of options in the nearby lots if you can't get one on the street.“

“Nestled in the vibrant streets of Philadelphia, Charlie Was A Sinner. is a haven for those seeking a culinary experience that transcends expectations. With its inviting ambiance and innovative plant-based cuisine, this restaurant captivates the senses and leaves a lasting impression.Let's dive into the star of the show: the food. Each dish at Charlie Was A Sinner. is a work of art, meticulously crafted to delight even the most discerning palate. From the first bite to the last, every flavor sings in perfect harmony, showcasing the creativity and skill of the culinary team. However, I must address a notable aspect of our dining experience—the service. While the staff was friendly and accommodating, there were some shortcomings that impacted the overall enjoyment of our meal. In particular, our server seemed lacking in knowledge of the menu, unable to provide accurate information about certain dishes' ingredients. This became especially problematic when attempting to accommodate dietary restrictions at our table. Rather than consulting the chef or kitchen staff for clarification, our server seemed uncertain and unable to provide the necessary assistance.Despite this hiccup, I must commend the kitchen for their flexibility and willingness to accommodate our dietary needs once the issue was brought to their attention. Their dedication to ensuring a positive dining experience did not go unnoticed and ultimately salvaged what could have been a disappointing situation. In conclusion, while Charlie Was A Sinner. excels in its culinary offerings, there is room for improvement in the realm of service, particularly in staff knowledge and communication. Nonetheless, I remain impressed by the restaurant's commitment to delivering exceptional plant-based cuisine and look forward to returning for another memorable dining experience.“

I had originally doubted the food given the very interesting, futuristic, Blade-Runner-esque theme, though I was pleasantly surprised. Though I had originally, believed, all of this restaurant's pull had been contributed to the ambiance, the food was extremely something to die for. “This was my first excursion into the cuisine of Latin America, but more like Latin fusion. If your palette craves new experiences, Paladar is an amusement park of tasteful indulgences with flavors, smells and tastes that delight. We were so taken that we all shared our dishes with, "Oh, wow! You gotta try this!" From starters to entres to desserts to mixed drinks, our first time won Paladar many return visits. From the ambiance to the enthusiastic wait staff to the amazing speed in which the entres were served, Bravo Paladar. You did it right!Vegetarian options: Hardly any true vegetarian options.Parking: Depending on when you get there, parking can be hard to find as choice spots fill up at dinner hour and prolly worse Fridays and Saturdays. To save time, park at Wegmans and walk a minute or two to Paladar.“

“Tucked away within Downtown Manayunk is the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society (PHS) Pop-up Garden. There was a Dried Flower Wreath making class that I attended and when I arrived, everything was set up nicely. There are QR Codes on the tables through Toast Take out system. I ordered a drink while I waited for the event to take place. After 10 minutes I ordered fried cheese curd with cherry pepper aioli. This code just places everything on a tab. So cool! The event took place for 1.5 hours and at the end it was a fun night. The environment is so cool with a repurposed warehouse and a beautiful beer garden with lovely greenery everywhere. It's my thing!!After the event I ordered the Jamestown burger with cheese and bacon and their fun Sidewinder fries. Nom nom. That was a delicious, juicy burger with a fresh potato roll. The Negroni and The High Tide, with elijah craig bourbon, green tea syrup, fever tree lemon tonic. Make sure you get that.“

“Every course was tasty and had the character of satisfying your appetite without feeling stuffed. The walnut and apple salad and blackened salmon were really great paring with a nice glass of wine and the gelato desert was fantastic. The space and crowd was as energetic as the service. I also learned a new vocabulary word, which was the meaning of "Libertine" and the inspiration for the restaurant's theme. Very funky. lots of fun. Not a quiet place, but still would recommend and I hope to go back.“

“Friendly, reasonably priced Pub around the corner from the 13th St Holiday Inn (where I parked). I later realized there was an EZ Park outdoor lot right next to the pub. I was at the Holiday Inn for an hour and a half --$24.00.?. Try EZ Park first.“
