“If yinz find yourself passing through Munhall,PA like we were you’ve simply gotta stop in at the local tavern on Main Street! We stumbled upon Main Street Tavern and are thankful we did. This joint has big screens to watch an assortment of sporting events, copious options in the beverage arena and an assortment tasty food crafted by their cook (make sure you check the schedule ~ you won’t be disappointed!). Yinz know the show Cheers, right?! It was evident that the owners of this local establishment know everyone who walks through their doors by name. The greetings we’d witness as folks arrived was cheerful and when it was time to leave they’d give a shoutout “see yinz next time!” We bellied up to the bar and ordered two draft beers … what kind you ask … Yuengling of course! Do you know the story of Yuengling; it’s one of the American Spirit. It’s a tale of shared dreams, individual tenacity & an unwavering dedication to standards of quality. Like many American stories it starts amid the dreams of countless young immigrants looking for opportunity and emerges from the strength & will of one family determined to build their legacy in a new country. The story of America’s Oldest Brewery began when David G. Yuengling arrived from Wuerttemberg Germany to settle in the sleepy, coal-mining town of Pottsville, Pennsylvania. As I digress, like a story being shared with new friends over a cold beer I’ll get back to our visit at Main Street Tavern. We ordered draft refills to accompany the wings & hand crafted pizza we ultimately chose; the menu is filled with taste bud tempting & oh so many yummy in my tummy choices. The crust of the pizza is sourced locally along with most of the food you’ll find on Main Street Tavern’s; it’s an impressive menu. The meatballs are homemade & sought after by many (that’s what I gathered by listening to banter across the bar). The rabbit food aka salads galore I doubt will leave you hungry by the portions I saw being served causing me to second guess my choice but not for long, those first nibbles into the perfectly cooked wings & crisped drumsticks drizzled in sauce had me wanting more. The wing sauce was scrumpdillyicious & fingers were licked while our pizza was easily devoured as we shared this feast while bantering with the locals, staff and owners as college football played on the screens. Folks were filtering in and out, some playing pool while others shared stories of their week. It’s was kind of neat spending time in a local neighborhood establishment, the vibe is unique and very much welcomed. We learned that Main Street Tavern is a staple in the community and gives back regularly hosting an array of charitable events like chili cook-offs, Santa was just there for pictures with the kids, karaoke & local entertainment. Ugh! Now we had a problem of the most basic kind. Being in town only for one night we couldn’t enjoy other items offered on Main Street Tavern’s savory menu and the company of friendly folks that shared our evening; perhaps our return trip east in the spring requires a delightful detour?! So in review … this gal encourages you to divert yourself off the highway, head on over to historic Munhall (a borough in Allegheny County, PA on the west bank of the Monongahela river). At Main Street Tavern we found ourselves warmly welcomed as we stepped inside, filled up on an assortment of vittles, beverages severed with a smile & locals who were happy to sit alongside us as we conversed about our travels across our country.”

“HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! As a health conscious family, who doesn’t consume pork or pork bi-products, we’re don’t often eat out but when we learned that House of Soul doesn’t use pork, we ran over to try them and baby, they did NOT disappoint!! The ribs are BOMB! And the fact that my bodybuilder husband was able to find things on the menu that fit within his meal plan was everything! The kids loved the food too! The owner, Kay is super sweet! You can tell she puts her heart and soul (pun intended) into her food! Since first tasting House of Soul 2 months ago, we’ve been back 4 times 🫣… and we’ll very likely be going back again soon!”

“After reading the reviews for this location I was hesitant to visit but it was very pleasant! The lady working (not sure of her name, drives a silver Subaru wagon I believe) today 12/27/25 was very friendly and the store looked great!”

“They didn't have my pies. So why five stars..... I gave it five stars because the manager on 10/13/25 was extremely polite and apologized for not having them. Then without having to ask she already hooked us up with apple pies and cookies instead and added some extra fries. Just good common sense solution to a minor problem. I've literally seen it go sideways at other establishments because people are nuts. Great job! Pay that woman more please.”

“A group of 5 of us visited Dish last night and the meals were amazing. Grilled Squid, the best I have ever had. Where else can you find it not breaded and fried? Add to that their amazing sardines so fresh and good. Pasta Funghi another high. Exquisite detail to taste in every dish. The owners go way out of their way to make you feel welcomed and happy and very satisfied. A must visit when you are lucky enough to get a reservation though other friends have happily sat at the bar for dinner just to be there!! Kudos to Dish!”

“For six years I have been looking for a new favorite restaurant in Pittsburgh since my old favorite one closed. I have never found a place that had the perfect food and atmosphere I was looking for until I entered Lilith last night. Everything about this restaurant is phenomenal. The service from being greeted to the absolutely awesome server we had was excellent! The food had a wow factor rarely found in Pittsburgh. I’m not usually a huge fan of how vegetables are cooked most places and the veggies in my dish just blew things out of the water. You could tell they were fresh and local too. The fish I had was just amazing. It was cooked perfectly and full of flavor. Needless to say I will be back again and again now to experience more culinary delights!”

“This restaurant came highly recommended and requires reservation several weeks in advance as it is usually booked up. Can confirm this one is worth the extra effort to get a reservation early. Great experience from the ambience and food to the service. Really a five star experience.”

“Second time eating at this gem, bringing the family along. I had the tikka masala, and family had red curry, chicken quesadilla and Hawaiian stir fry. The flavors were SO delicious and everyone loved their meals. It's great they offer vegetarian protein choices and substitutes. Owners are super friendly. We can't wait to come back again!”

“I love the amount of real spices they use in their curries. I can tell that the restaurant has a great quality of food. I am very sensitive to (hot) spices, but I want to enjoy the flavors of Indian food. If I ask for a 0 the spice level feels too hot for me. Last time I came, I asked for them to adjust the spice level to be milder than 0. They were able to reduce the heat in the dish to levels I could handle without reducing the flavor. I have not dined in at this restaurant, but enjoy the ambience of the place. It is clean and the decor is eye catching.”

“I happened upon this coffee shop on a whim and felt welcomed from the moment I walked through the door. Honestly, it was like I stepped into a cozy fantasy novel. The atmosphere is friendly and you can *feel* the care and thoughtfulness that goes into the service. There are so many drink choices that I'm glad there's a wheel to spin for inspiration. Fate landed on a spiced pear chai and it was phenomenal. I already want to go back.”

“Nestled in a modest plaza at 226 Center Road in Monroeville, Pennsylvania, Big Rig’s BBQ is the kind of place that turns barbecue lovers into regulars. Owned and operated by the warm and welcoming husband-and-wife team of Josh and Susan Toney, along with their talented chef, this local spot has quickly become a standout in the Pittsburgh-area BBQ scene since opening a few years ago. What sets it apart? It's chef-driven smoked meats using a blend of hickory, cherry, and apple woods, creative sides, craft sandwiches, and an unwavering commitment to quality. But let's get to the heart of it—the food, the people, and the vibe that make every visit feel like coming home. If there's one item that defines Big Rig’s BBQ, it's the brisket. This Texas-style brisket is nothing short of exceptional. Smoked low and slow daily, it arrives at your table with a beautiful bark, a perfect smoke ring, and tenderness that rivals the best pits in the country. You can order it lean or fatty (I always go for a mix), and it literally melts in your mouth. Fork-tender, juicy, and packed with deep, smoky flavor, it's the kind of brisket that makes you close your eyes on the first bite. Reviewers from North Carolina to Texas have raved about it, with many calling it the best they've had outside their home states. Pair it with one of their house-made sauces— the sweet house sauce, tangy Carolina mustard, or spicy variant—and you've got barbecue perfection. Whether sliced on a platter, stuffed into a baked potato, or melted into their famous Brisket Grilled Cheese sandwich (a gooey, indulgent masterpiece), the brisket is consistently outstanding and the reason many drive from across the region. But Big Rig’s isn't just about classics; their creativity shines in the Burger of the Week, a rotating special that drops every Wednesday and keeps things exciting. Each new burger is a stroke of genius, blending premium ingredients with BBQ flair in ways that surprise and delight. One week, it might be a double smash burger topped with chopped brisket, crispy onions, and a tangy sauce that elevates it to legendary status. Another features bold flavors like jalapeño cheddar, bacon, and raspberry honey mustard slaw on a pretzel bun—sweet, spicy, smoky, and utterly addictive. I've tried several, and every single one has been phenomenal: juicy patties cooked to perfection, fresh toppings that balance textures and tastes, and portions that leave you satisfied but plotting your return. Diners frequently call these burgers the best in the Pittsburgh area, with one declaring a brisket-topped version "the BEST burger I've had." The anticipation for each new creation builds community buzz on social media, and it's easy to see why— these aren't ordinary burgers; they're innovative, flavorful triumphs that showcase the kitchen's talent. Beyond the stars of the menu, the supporting cast is equally impressive. Sides like the creamy mac and cheese, smoky pit beans with burnt ends, sweet vinegar coleslaw, and melt-in-your-mouth cornbread are generous and house-made with care. Other meats—fall-off-the-bone ribs, rich pork belly burnt ends, pulled pork, and even smoked kielbasa—round out platters that feed families effortlessly. There's a kids' menu with favorites like grilled cheese and chicken tenders, making it easy to bring the whole crew. What truly elevates Big Rig’s is the owners and staff, who are incredibly friendly and genuinely passionate. Josh and Susan are often on-site, chatting with guests, recommending pairings, and ensuring everyone feels welcome. The service is attentive yet relaxed, with staff going above and beyond—whether explaining the sauces at the table or accommodating special requests. It's clear this is a family-run operation built on love for great food and community. The environment is perfectly family-friendly: clean, casual, and cozy with ample seating, including space for larger groups. It's not a fancy spot, but it's inviting—think warm ligh”
