“Stopped in for a late night snack and Brandon at the front counter was very helpful. Helped answer my questions about catering and guided me through the menu selection. Store was very clean and the ordering is process was very easy. Brandon brought out the strawberry pretzel pie and oatmeal skillet cookies ordered with the boxes open to see if they were to my liking. Both were backed perfectly and tasted delightful. If you are new to newtown square I highly suggest you check out the crumble cookies at the Ellis Preserve.“

“My family used to call this bakery “The Crabby Woman Bakery” back in the 1980s. That’s because at least one the regular women who worked behind the counter was unusually crabby. I used to ask my parents to pick up a birthday cake that I had ordered ( or for whatever occasion) and I would cook the dinner for my extended family. My dad would arrive with the cake, but he always seemed a little unhappy. One day, I asked him why. He told me “whenever you send me to that bakery, I always tell the woman behind the counter that I am picking up a cake that my daughter ordered. I give the woman your last name…..she becomes irritated and asks “I need to know the size of the cake and the cake and icing flavors”. When he admitted that the only thing he knew was the last name, the woman would become very annoyed. This should be a short pit stop always turned into a very long process. The bakery woman would always figure out which cake was mine but it took a lot of time and many questions. Eventually, my dad changed the bakery name to “The Crabby Woman Bakery” and that’s what my family ( and friends) called it for the Emanuel years. The baked goods are all AWESOME. Especially the sour cream cookies and strawberr6 shortcake!“

“Gina makes the BEST rosemary cheddar scones you will ever find! All the treats in the shop are so tasty and baked with love, but the scones are outstanding! Gina and her staff are so sweet and friendly, that the “Sweets” of their Sweets on Darby name refers as much to the people as it does to the delightful pastries she bakes. “Just moved into the neighborhood & decided to take a walk. I saw this tucked inside a little shopping center & now I regret it. Should have stuck with Dunkin Donuts bc after eating an everything bagel w/cream cheese from there, I’m addicted. “You know this place is popular when there are people waiting outside the door at 9am right before this place opens. It was my first time here and upon arriving, 2 people were waiting to get in and 3 more trickled in minutes later. A line started to form and people are trying to get the tomato pie. I place an order for the regular tomato pie a few days ago over the phone but when I went to pick it up they didn't have my name. Luckily they had extras so I didn't have to order another. My friends really enjoyed the tomato pie so it's definitely as good as people say. Just be sure to double check the day before if you placed an order with them.“

“Had an amazing experience for our child's birthday party. We reserved the playroom for our 3 year old and his 8 friends plus parents and some babies. The kids (ages 1-4) all had a blast in the play area which had a playground, lots of toys, and endless entertainment for the entirety of the party. They could have played there all night! There was plenty of room for all of the kids to sit and eat at a table and for the adults to relax and mingle. There was also plenty of room for us to setup food, beverages, and coolers in addition to what the bakery provided (pizza, juice, cupcakes). The staff was very friendly, helpful, and accommodating! We definitely recommend for a memorable experience.“

“I ordered my husband's cake from Clay's and it was delicious!! It was strawberry layer cake with strawberry filling and it was nice and moist until it was all gone. Our family loves extra cake for a day or two... and until the cake was gone, it was just as moist as if it was just picked up from the bakery. I just wish they were open more days throughout the week. However, the cake was so good, my mom will be ordering her next event's deserts from Clay's and so will I!“

Top favorites of their general cupcakes: Vanilla Oreo, Carrot cake, and Red Velvet! The cupcake specials for the holidays are amazing - and for Black History Month they did punny cupcakes that also told a story of the person that they were honoring - so sweet and important. Other foods that are there like the Iced Pound Cake and the Banana Pudding are equally as amazing as the cupcakes. Recently tried the “Irish Potatoes” which were a special for St. Patrick’s day - they have coconut in them, and I don’t like coconut - but I ate so many of Kia’s Irish Potatoes!! “Bagelicious is a hidden KOP gem! We had amazing bagels here and the chocolate chip cookies are homemade and you can taste how different they are from run of the mill cookies. We loved it so much we came back later this week to try more! It’s definitely a small mom and pop shop, but the bagels rival any other in town. Softer than Spread and bigger and tastier than Founding Farmers. Our new favorite bagel place! 10/10“

“Frozen pastries? I've been coming to Le Petit Mitron since Rick Nichols wrote his 2001 review praising them to the skies and I can vouch for the fact that they, too, froze their pastries. I can also vouch for the fact that Angela and Andrew have made spectacular use of the baton Patrick and Isabelle passed to them, adding canneles to the mix. I can also vouch for the fact that their pastries (like LPM's) freeze well. I buy in bulk and always buy over 100 dollars worth on every visit, as many pastries as will fit in my freezer. If it's a nice day I'll have a few to eat outside with my daughter with a cup of their excellent Herman's coffee.“

“My mother & I came here for breakfast while we were waiting for my chinchilla to have a procedure done at the vet close by. Wow! We both had the Waldorf salad. I had mine on sourdough bread & she hers on a bed of lettuce with the tarragon chicken salad as well. Absolutely amazing. The chai latte was also great. I did not catch the barista’s name, but she was very helpful and friendly as well. All around great experience at the elegance cafe!“
