“The Valley is like no other place in the area. Best chicken 🐔 and seafood and qasudeilla around but what makes this place so special is the owners. They care about the place and the customers. a regular home burnt down. they rasied 2 k for them. food drive for people in need. They give back to the community. They always go the extra mile that most places would not think of doing. The food it self makes a must go place to eat. The owners make you feel like family. A cast of regulars that make everyone feel welcome. Trivia on Tuesday is just fun.“

“Update 2+ years later.. more words. Quality is just as good as our first time here. The fried chicken is maybe the greatest on the planet. Crispy outside, juicy inside like something that you'd see in an advertisement - but you actually get it. I had the steak, tenders, broccoli casserole and mashed. I didn't need all that food but I couldn't stop eating. Heather is a freaking machine behind the bar and the staff is a well oiled machine. Will definitely be back sooner rather than later this time. “Went on a busy Friday night but hostess was able to accommodate myself and two daughters. I was in a rush and was pleasantly surprised by the speed of service by the wait staff and kitchen. Everyone was pleasant, food was excellent (kids had burgers and fries and I had the chicken sandwich). Had a long drive home and we arrived at 7:15 and left by 7:50 with full bellies, fun atmosphere, great staff… which was ideal! Highly recommended!“

“We just celebrated our Dover Area High School graduate this past Saturday (5/31/25) at the Roosevelt Tavern, and everything—from the food to the atmosphere to the service—was absolutely FANTASTIC.

What made the day even more meaningful is the personal connection we have with this place. The father of my children, Edward “Peewee” Green, was a chef here many years ago under the previous owner, Bob Schimmel. Sadly, he passed away in November of 2012. Though my kids were only 4 and 5 years old at the time, many patrons still fondly remember him and speak so highly of his time at the Roosevelt.

What we didn’t expect—what truly left us speechless—was the incredible gesture from the current owner. Unbeknownst to us, he had held onto one of Peewee’s old chef coats for the past 15 years, and he gifted it to our graduate during the celebration. That thoughtful, deeply touching act gave our kids a priceless piece of their father’s legacy—a physical connection to a man they’ve heard so much about, but lost too soon.

We are forever grateful for that moment. It meant the world to me and to our family. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts.“

“I really like going to Cracker Barrel. My go to meal is the Maple Bacon Chicken. So disappointing that they took this off the menu and basically replaced it with plain grilled chicken breast for basically the same cost. No flavor what so ever!! Why mess with something that was so good!?!?! and the little lanterns have disappeared from the tables. 😔“

“The hostess was absolutely amazing. He promptly greeted me and had me in a booth surrounded by the history of York PA. I’ve always been fascinated with the history and culture of the city. The server was gracious and attentive. She listened to every detail and executed correctly. I highly recommend this one it’s quiet and serves a diverse range of residents from young to old and anywhere in between. You are welcomed here and the food. The food is always delicious and…. I can’t say enough and you need to check it out yourself.“

“My family and I love coming to J&B's! We live in MD which is about a 45 minute drive for us and we literally come to PA just to eat here. My husband and I actually found this place a few years ago when going to the Amish market and wanted a good breakfast spot. We have never been disappointed with the food and the service is always amazing! Highly reccomend if you're looking for a place that has great food, services and is reasonably priced.“

More people kept getting added to our party, he, without hesitation, added more tables and chairs. He took our orders and separated the checks without us even asking. “I cannot even begin to express how grateful we are for the kindness and exceptional service provided by Jim & Nena's. After a failed delivery with GrubHub it was much needed!! They were patient with GrubHub and my husband as all 3 worked together in rectifying the situation (which was no fault of the restaurant). They not only offered to deliver our order themselves (so we could stop dealing with GrubHub), but also gave us an additional pizza!! Ps. The bacon cheese fries were LOADED in cheese & bacon & they were absolutely delicious. We will certainly be stopping here more often (rather than ordering through GrubHub).“
