“We really enjoyed dinner outside by the river. The ceviche was as fresh and perfectly balanced as any we’ve had anywhere. Portions are huge! Grilled seafood was perfect and paella great as well- rice not too dry like some. Enjoyed it a lot.“

I had a lot of questions and he answered them kindly and informed about so many items on the menu. There is an option for everybody! They have a good amount of high chairs where you can sit and eat. I ordered the shrimp pad Thai; it was fresh, hot and had a nice kick to it. For a drink, I ordered the strawberry passion fruit slush with lychee jelly. So good! I cannot wait to return!“

“Dan and I both grew up in Bangkok, and when we were teenagers, our respective families would take us to French restaurants. One of the dishes we both remember vividly was steak au poivre—perfectly cooked steak with that incredible creamy, brandy-peppercorn sauce. It was absolutely fantastic.

Ever since, we’ve been on a relentless quest to find steak au poivre that tastes the way we remember it.

We’ve tried it in Quebec. We’ve tried it all over New England and New York. We even tried it in France. Some have been good, some very good—but that traditional French flavor, especially that sauce, has always been just a little off.

Until last night. After decades of searching, we finally found it.

The steak. The whole peppercorns. The cream. The brandy. That rich, unmistakable sauce we’ve been chasing since Bangkok.

One bite and we looked at each other: THIS is it.

And where did we finally find the steak au poivre we’ve been searching for all these years?

The Capital Grille.

And it wasn’t just the steak. The creamed spinach, potatoes au gratin and creamed corn were all fabulous—and the bread was to die for. It was one of those meals where absolutely everything on the table was delicious.

I only got pics of our appetizers as we were hungry and chowed on our mani courses. Started with a 1930 DAQ, Wawtuhmelon and a Vino Rosso Gaio - all drinks were tasty! We started with the Truffle fries and the Crispy Duck Meatballs- oh my both were great! The flavor in the Duck meatballs was amazing! The sweet chili glaze just hits it out of the park! On to dinner I ordered the Steak Frites - excellent flavor and cooked perfect! Wife ordered the Chicken Picatta - very tasty with a great lemon flavor! Daughter ordered the Pink Vodka - also really flavorful with interesting noodles I had not had before. Thank you for a great experience- we shall be back! Thanks Chef Max!“

“So I ordered a strawberry shortcake pancake and Mix home fries with sausage and cheese. The pancakes were fluffy and airy, the strawberries were fresh. I would say I would prefer them to give me less of the custard because it was too much and over powering. The home fries with the mix with the sausage and cheese were great, very flavorful.“

Then the waiter came over quickly and was attentive throughout the meal without being intrusive. Our food included Breaded Palomilla Steak, Enchilada de Camarones, and Ropa Vieja. Loved the congris (rice with garlic and black beans) and plantains both salty and sweet. The flan, shared for dessert was the just right ending. I wish we lived closer because we would be there often!“
