“This a a working man's bar. Or working woman. The people at the bar looked like they get shit done. I think the people that drink here are making life easier for someone. This is not a tourist bar, but do not let the rough look turn you away. This place has cold beer and solid wings. The bartender is a no joke kind of gal, slinging beer and serving food. What made this place great was it was a judgment free kind of joint. I would come back. Get the fries with the smoke house rub.“

“Great experience for my group of 8. We enjoyed having a pre-dinner cocktail at the bar with a seamless transition to our round dining table (love round tables!) which worked so well for keeping the conversation flowing over a beautiful dinner.“

“Stopped in today on an overcast RI day while enjoying an instate vaca getaway for a few days. Opted to try their Beef Stew entree (for lunch-lol) since I felt the urge to warm up since the weather wasn't the best today. Definitely the right decision. Huge chunks of beef accompanied by fully cooked potatoes and massive carrots. Paired with 2 warm rolls filled my belly and prepped me for some more sidewalk trolling.“

“I have had breakfast here w/ a group of HS graduate friends on numerous occasions.. The food was always good, and in spite of the variations ordered, delicious, hot, and served all at the same time. Waitresses were always pleasant, polite and good humored. (Image the ribbing they took from 6 to 10 older men! Friday, 3/15/24 ,my wife, my sister, my nephew and I had the dinner special for 2. Each :Cup of Chowder, 2 Clam Cakes, Fries, and Fish. EXCELLENT in every sense of the word and good portions! ( I also managed to consume a HUGE Strawberry Shortcake! ) I cannot praise enough the quality of the meal, service, and reasonable price. You owe yourself a trip and meal at this“

“Most delicious fresh food from a gastro pub. All the flavors were spot on the servers were kind and friendly, especiallyvAutumn. It was an amazing place to eat and probably my favorite place in Newport over four days of eating at the local restaurants. The bathrooms are clean and on weekends, They have a great musician and it's not a very loud crazy scene. It's very enjoyable.“
“Not a foodie place. The live music, friendly staff and customers , along with an overall positive vibe are the draws, along with the backyard beer garden.Recommend for those reasons, and did I mention live music Mon, Thursday eves, and Saturdays from 2-5..Sometimes "Pop--up bands occur, which is also great.“

“The 99 has many options for food, many of them are solid choices. My "go-to" is usually the sirloin tips. Sometime about their seasoning/marinade makes them taste amazing. (Note: this is probably the only restaurant where I would actually choose tips over an actual steak!).This visit, I tried a new offering, Teriyaki Pork Tenderloin. It was pretty decent. The Teriyaki sauce was great. The pork could have used a bit more of it during the cooking. It honestly was a bit bland for my taste, but it comes with a side of the sauce for dipping, which I love. But there was zero fat on the tenderloin. I've had tenderloin from other places that came with huge chunks of fat (whether or not it's a source of flavor, I don't like it). So I was happy about that.Service was great, even though they had more customers at this time than I've ever seen in this particular location before. At no time was I sitting there waiting for someone to come check on us.Overall if you're familiar with the 99 restaurant chain this one is pretty much the same as all of the others.“
“We stopped here at the recommendation of our hotel. Frozen peanut butter mudslides were awesome. Bartender was very nice. They had limited food available (around 3pm). Hotdogs were good. Really a great place to hang out near the water, away from the crowded warf area. We would go back on our next trip to Newport.“
