“Steph and the team at scratch were SUPERB! Our catering order was perfect (tho we were sad the croissant machine was down) every thing was piping hot (or nice an cool). Everything was SOOO good. “Root in Newport — Newport’s only fully vegan spot, and everything feels so fresh. It’s such a cute, cozy little place with a couple of outdoor tables right on the sidewalk, so our pup could join us. We intentionally ate light since we had dinner at Foglia later. I got the Just Egg Violife cheese on an English muffin. It was tasty and well prepared, but not especially unique. I’m wondering if they’d add some of their coconut bacon from the BLT to the breakfast sandwich next time to take it up a level! Hubby got the avocado toast, which was creamy and bright with pickled onion — really tasty. They also have more unique options like the chickpea salad sandwich and coconut bacon BLT that I’d love to try next time when we’re not trying to keep things light. Afterward, we headed to Fort Adams, which is pup-friendly, and finished with some Del’s watermelon. Such a fun Newport day!“

“1st time date night for us. We were met and had Darwin the AMAZING to ourselves. Fall cocktails were delish and menu changes were not disappointing! Bar12 was full when we left.“

“We stayed at Wayfinder Hotel while attending a Navy OCS graduation in Newport, RI, and our experience was outstanding. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warmth, professionalism, and genuine care.

All of the staff were wonderful, but Shelly at the front desk truly went above and beyond. She made us feel like family and provided the best customer service I have ever experienced at any hotel or resort. When we asked if there was a microwave available to warm our tea, Shelly immediately contacted Mike from maintenance. Mike personally delivered a microwave to our room and even tested it to ensure it was fully operational before leaving.

This level of attentiveness and service is rare. Shelly sets the gold standard for hospitality, and Mike’s help was equally appreciated. Our stay made an already meaningful trip even more memorable. Highly recommend this hotel—we will absolutely stay here again.“

What an amazing dining experience we had at Hooked last night! It was our first time dining outside this season, and we’re so glad we chose Hooked. From start to finish, everything was outstanding.
Shelby, our server, was attentive, friendly, knowledgeable, and truly embodied the spirit of hospitality. She genuinely cared about making our evening special, and it absolutely showed.
The food was fabulous — no surprise with the talented Scales crew behind it all! And the dirty martini with hand-stuffed blue cheese olives was perfectly crafted and absolutely on point.

“Quite easily the best Mexican food I have ever eaten. A great indication the food is good is when there are lots of Mexican people lining up to eat the food which was the case here. The food was fresh and extremely tasty. Nice ambiance and very clean. Top notch food.“

“We came in Sunday evening for a small dinner and dessert and sat at the bar. The bartender was attentive and filled our drinks quickly. It was pretty empty when we got there but packed when we left. The food was AMAZING. We shared the short rib special and it was so good! For dessert we had the chocolate mousse and bread pudding which were also sooooo good! The restaurant itself was beautiful. Prices were reasonable. Would definitely dine here again!“

“They were able to accommodate me on a busy weekend, even let me choose my seat even though I was alone and they had people continuing to arrive. The hostess and waitress were friendly, the food was delicious (pesto shrimp pizza), the view was nice as it's right on the water, and I chose a table that allowed me to see it properly. The band I was particularly happy about- I thought they were fantastic- they played early rock n roll, and I wish I asked their name.

It's a really relaxed atmosphere, not fancy, think old patio furniture. My table was not steady and rocked when you moved, the chairs were plastic, but I didn't mind. If you want a good meal on the water and are not picky about that, I'd recommend this place.
