“We just enjoyed a late lunch that was absolutely delicious! The lobster bisque was a great starter but the lobster Mac and cheese was the BEST we’ve ever had. Giant chunks of lobster were buried amongst the creamy noodles. We shared the lobster dish and it was plenty. \nThe fresh cod/ Fish-n-chips was also excellent, flaky light white fish. We waited 45 mins for our table, while sipping hot spiced cider - the food was well worth the wait.“

He was so patient and kind, especially with the babies. He was very attentive and friendly. The food was incredible. We had a great experience and would recommend to anyone! The tavern is absolutely gorgeous too.“

Amazing local farm-to-table options that keep us and those who visit us asking to go back to that one place in Newport, I really loved! The service to guests with one or more allergies was superb! The chef personally came to our table on each visit to discuss what meals were safe to order. I have multiple allergies, so sometimes they would have made me my own off-the-menu special dish. “Just finished great meal. Huge lobster roll, high quality kids chicken and big beefy kids burger. I had the fish n chips which was amazing! Old Bay fries and what had to be a whole Cod! The best part was Peter N. He was very informative, quick in serving the kids which lets Mom and Dad relax. Such a great day and great meal.“

Gas Lamp Grille truly stands out in this regard, making it easy to enjoy a great meal even later in the evening. We’ve visited multiple times and consistently have a great experience. Seating is always quick, and the service is prompt, friendly, and attentive. The lobster rolls—both chilled and hot—are excellent every time. We also appreciate the option to choose between traditional fries, sweet potato fries, or a salad, allowing for a bit of flexibility while still enjoying a favorite dish. Whether the restaurant is busy during a UConn game or more relaxed on a quieter evening, the staff remains efficient and welcoming. It has become one of our go-to spots whenever we’re in Newport.“

“We came in Sunday evening for a small dinner and dessert and sat at the bar. The bartender was attentive and filled our drinks quickly. It was pretty empty when we got there but packed when we left. The food was AMAZING. We shared the short rib special and it was so good! For dessert we had the chocolate mousse and bread pudding which were also sooooo good! The restaurant itself was beautiful. Prices were reasonable. Would definitely dine here again!“
