“Bit of a hidden gem. This place is not in one of the main restaurant areas but is located in the Hotel Viking so if you weren't aware it was there, you could easily overlook, but we're so glad we did not! The drinks and food were all amazing and we loved that they took some classics but added unique elements to them (I especially loved their take on the Burrata salad!). We went at an off time so was slower but it's lovely restaurant and hotel. Service was super friendly and helpful - thank you James and Angela! We'll definitely come back our next time to Newport.“

“I always come for the wings and drinks but I’m sure the other food options are great as well. Different fun atmosphere, the staff do a fantastic job. I need to point out Mark, he was extremely attentive and above and beyond as far as servers go. Looking forward to coming back!

P.S. the habanero wings were indeed hot (some places claim they have habanero or even hotter wings but these ones have me the hiccups and sweats), I love spicy food and if you can handle it then go for it ??“

“Oldest running tavern in the US with fine dining options. We absolutely loved the history and ambiance of the place. The restaurant is multi story which I’m assuming has to do with being in the NE, but we had a private room to ourselves. We got the duck scotch egg, grand sampler, and beef Wellington. All were so good. We’ve even tried the beef Wellington at Gordon Ramsays restaurants and I’ll say this was even better!! The waitress was so kind and attentive even bringing out an extra plate to our nephew who came with us.“

“Clarke Cooke House in Newport, Rhode Island, is a popular spot, especially on weekends in the summer, so reservations are a must. I visited with a group of five on a Saturday in August, and it was packed. I ordered the mussels in a white wine garlic sauce, which were delicious, paired with the petite frites. However, my mother-in-law had a less-than-ideal experience with the salmon toast; they were out of cream cheese and charged her extra to substitute grilled onions, which didn't go over well. The rest of the group enjoyed their meals. While the prices are on the higher side, it’s expected for Newport. The location is fantastic, but the interior is a bit tight, especially during busy times. Overall, it's a nice spot to visit, just be prepared for some trade-offs.“

“Steph and the team at scratch were SUPERB! Our catering order was perfect (tho we were sad the croissant machine was down) every thing was piping hot (or nice an cool). Everything was SOOO good. Ordering was easy, Steph ensured we had a great variety and enough to feed the post-wedding crowd. We did have breakfast here and it was stellar! Any event you need catered, be sure to check Steph and the team out. You will, NOT be disappointed!“

“Everytime I’m in Newport, I make it a point to stop by The Red Parrot. Their food and drinks are always great! Unfortunately, I was there yesterday, ordered the sticky wings which are a favorite, looked like the kitchen just poured a container of sesame seeds all over them and were inedible. Bartender did comp one of our drinks, but could have offered to take them back for a new batch or even sent them back before he served them. Was definitely disappointing.“

“Came here for Mother’s Day and our table came complete with a picture of my family in a frame. What a nice touch! The food was delicious and our waitress was perfect. She knew exactly what we were going to need having two kids under 4 with us. This is my favorite place in Newport and they hit the mark yet again.“

“The manager is very receptive and understanding. I had a issue with my delivery through doordash. I have the covid and I didn't want to do pickup. The manager escalated the delivery to the appropriate people. Food service and people pleasing is unbearable after the pandemic. It was actually barely bearable before the pandemic.People got meaner. Please respect those still fighting in the food service and customer service industry.“

“We came in Sunday evening for a small dinner and dessert and sat at the bar. The bartender was attentive and filled our drinks quickly. It was pretty empty when we got there but packed when we left. The food was AMAZING. We shared the short rib special and it was so good! For dessert we had the chocolate mousse and bread pudding which were also sooooo good! The restaurant itself was beautiful. Prices were reasonable. Would definitely dine here again!“
