“📅 01.04.25 ✍🏾 BIG AL’S WRITTEN REVIEW EP. CANCELLED Ella’s Food & Drink 👎🏾 📍 Westerly, Rhode Island I pulled up to Ella’s to do what I’ve done over 197 times before. I filmed a quick intro outside, walked in, got a quick vid of the interior and before I got to sit down for a food review it went downhill fast. Almost immediately, the energy felt off. As I started my usual walkthrough (phone in hand), the interaction with the owner turned uncomfortable. Instead of being welcoming or neutral, the tone came off as condescending, rude and dismissive. There was no effort to de-escalate the situation, and I quickly felt unwelcome in the space. At that point, I made the right decision to leave. I didn’t raise my voice. I didn’t make a scene. I simply chose not to stay where I didn’t feel respected or welcomed. I’m always courteous, polite, and respectful when I walk into any establishment, and my money is just as good as anyone else’s. I would have easily dropped $250 on that visit including a generous tip for my server. When the vibe is off, I listen to that instinct. “Had a lifelong friend’s 50th birthday party at Pooch’s Pour House last night and we couldn’t have been happier! They were super accommodating as they held the upstairs room for our gathering which was a great space for 25+ people. The food, drinks and staff were phenomenal. The setup and decor was also very cool with lots of past and present sports memorabilia and the overall atmosphere would rival any top bar/pub in Boston!”

“My son Zak and I had lunch here today. This was our first time and it won't be our last. I had heard so much about this place I just had to check it out. It was a quiet afternoon and not too busy. Our server was also the bartender, service was fast, friendly and pleasant. The menu is HUGE as is the specials board and their favorites. I started out with a huge bowl of delicious steamers. They came with a bowl of what I believe to be broth to rinse the steamers in and another bowl of melted butter to dip those delicious steamers in. Next I ordered the fried whole belly clams. Out came a mountain of deliciousness that was NOT over fried. They were tender and sweet and oh so good. They came with another mountain of thick French fries and creamy tartar sauce. My son Zak ordered the Shepard's pie. He got a ginormous plate of good looking Shepard's pie with three thick slices of Italian bread. We both totally enjoyed our meals but there was so much that we were both too full to finish. So we both took home a good amount of yummy leftovers. We will definitely return to try more of their interesting menu items. I'm definitely interested in trying the soupy pizza.🍕”

“Just a sumptuous dinner at one of the most stately of resorts. Everything about the visit was 5 stars plus! The staff is top notch and exceptionally friendly. Our server was Ricardo and he was excellent. The most serene water view from our table added to the ambience. The summer campanelle and the Italian sausage rigatoni were perfect. The chocolate torte and the panna cotta were perfect. The drinks such as the Weekapaug sunrise were perfect. Definitely a place to come back to again and again.”

“Outstanding! I was back for dinner last weekend with my wife. We had the firecracker starter, honey lavender salmon, and of course the burger, which were all cooked to perfection. The chef delivers every time and Tara makes an amazing martini. They have become our year-round go-to in all of Westerly. In the fall/winter months, we love settling into a cocktail by their stone fireplace, which is the centerpiece of the Inn. In the summer months, having dinner while enjoying their Friday evening live music is the best way to start the weekend. From the moment you walk in, Michael and Rob make you feel like you’re at home. Their ambience, food, cocktails, and service are unmatched. They’ve done a really nice job here.”

“My husband and I and our dear friends had dinner at the Haversham last weekend. A wonderful experience. As a young girl , I grew up on the Hillandale Farm which is very close to the Tavern. It was wonderful to see all of the references to Westerly on the menu. Sunrise salad, The Gavitt burger ( my maiden name was Gavitt) Westerly water, The Bradford,( where I live now), Dusty's Sundae ( an old ice cream shop in Dunn's Corners, long ago ) .The staff and dinner were great. I highly reccomend this resturant, especially if you are visiting from another town or State. Just a small piece of our wonderful state of RI.”

Fries were amazing. Lots of flavor on every fry. The bacon cheese burger was good but I wasn't blown away. Expected it to be a little bigger honestly. Had the chicken sandwich later and I will say it was probably one of the best buffalo chicken sandwiches I've had. Will definitely return ♥️”

“Pompelmo Gelato was a fantastic field trip! Melanie welcomed our small homeschool group to the shop and shared about her journey between Argentina and Italy, her achievements and awards, some of the beautiful culture around gelato, how it’s made, what separates it from ice cream, what inspires her, and how she aims to keep its magic with ever changing daily flavors. What a beautiful place. She generously let us tour the shop on her day off as well as sample multiple flavors of gelato. All delicious! She’s lovely to listen to and holds an abundance of story and information. This is the most delicious field trip I’ve ever been on. It truly felt magical! Pompelmo Gelato is a treasure!”

The wings wings equal out to about two dollars apiece but while that may seem pricey, The size of them more than make up for it, and the flavor is spot on every time the ramen bowls are not you’re boring open up a bag and microwave it ramen, you get a decent portion of meat, vegetables, and even an egg dropped into it highly recommend trying at least once”

“The fresh homemade ice cream is bursting with flavor. You can get a sugar cone, regular cone or a cup or delicious homemade waffle cone with your favorite topping and flavor of ice cream. They also have dairy free flavors that are very good. The prices are reasonable and staff are very friendly. Children can can color, and play with a musical ice cream toy and make their own ice creM cones. There is outdoor seating. They also have fresh italian ice.”

“We had an unforgettable experience! It was a snowy Saturday in late February when we arrived. We indulged in a variety of IPAs at this charming classic home, built in the 18th century New England style. The layout was superb, offering plenty of tables and seats to choose from. The bartender, Justin, proudly informed us that all the murals were original, leaving us in awe! They were reminiscent of the Wadsworth Atheneum (CT), showcasing their age and historical significance. Whether you’re here for the beer or not, this building is worth exploring with its iconic status. What an incredible opportunity to tour such a historic gem! We’ll definitely return to enjoy more delicious beer.”

We got our small cutting cake, and then for our desserts table we did mini eclairs, mini cannoli, mini cupcakes, and assorted cookies. Everything was delicious and our guests loved it all. No need to try any other places lol. Friendly service, reasonable prices and the food is top tier. So glad we tried this gem!!!”

“Westerly Dels went above and beyond for my little girl’s birthday. It is her favorite treat (nut allergic so one of the very few treats we can get that we don’t make ourselves). A gallon of Dels served her entire class (16) the mini size and and 4 adults a small, for only $25. They wrote happy birthday Lora on the cap, gave her a shovel, and balloons. Way more than I expected and it made both of our days. Thanks again!”

“Wonderful dumplings! The owners are very friendly, and the chef has been making dumplings for 19 years. Available as steamed or fried, choices include pork, vege and chicken. We tried them all! There is a small rustic dining area, but most orders were take out. The menu is extensive beyond the dumplings and portions were large. Highly recommended.”

“Great little dive bar and pizza joint. We got drinks and appetizers and it was all very good , the jalapeño poppers and mozzarella sticks were so good and you could tell they were homemade and not just frozen junk they picked up at Walmart. Very reasonably priced too.”

When I got to my shop and unwrapped it, there was very little roast beef on it. Only four slices on a footlong. Everything else was good, as usual.”

“We stopped in here once in May 2025 to meet up with friends that live nearby seasonally and told us we had to try one of Lorraine’s Cosmos because nobody due them better. . I’m not typically a martini drinker but I was told to give it a try and it was amazing as was the whole local vibe in the place. Our next trip to the area a month later we came back and I tried her Creamsicle Martini— just as delicious as the Cosmo— along with a quick ham & cheese grinder that was perfectly toasted with shredded lettuce (how I had them growing up)! Fast forward three months to our next visit and a Pumpkin Martini with a DC Supreme Pizza and the fun local bar atmosphere and it was yet another win!! Do yourself a favor and check them out the next time you’re in the area. Close enough to the beach.”

“Today, 3 of us had lunch at your restaurant. Our server Valerie was great and the food was delicious. We’ve just experienced a devastating fire at our apartment complex a little over a week ago and some of us lost everything. We’ve been staying in a nearby hotel as massive repairs are in the works. When Valerie came with our check, she asked if we wanted to buy a raffle ticket to which we explained our situation. As we were getting ready to pay our bill, Valerie came over and said our lunch was on them. We couldn’t believe it. Thank you Valerie and management of the 99 Restaurant in Westerly for your kindness to us!”

“Standard sports bar with pub fare, decent craft beer selection and my mom's favorite wine. It's been up and down here with food and service speed but on my last visit (5/4/23), the food came quickly and looked really solid. I didn't eat but had a few craft beers. Bartender isn't the most knowledgeable on the craft offerings but the selection is good! Came for trivia on a Thursday evening.”

Let's start from the beginning ,started off ok the waitress who seated us was nice took our coffe order, then it started to bad , our waiters came over with an attitude right away , came to our table and said with an attitude "you ready to order yet " no hi no name nothing but that. So I ordered the short stack chocolate pancakes and a order of hash my wife ordered the breakfast burrito,she said ok and walked away . Another waitress delivered our food and she was nice . The hash was homemade with awful water down potatoes and over cooked cornbeef drenched in grease and had no seasoning. Wish I took a picture but grabbed the waitress who dropped off the food and said We can't eat this and before I could say why ,she said "to greasy ?" And I replied to greasy . Then I took a bite into the worst and dry pancakes I have ever had . My wife burrito was ok but the homefries were awful again watered down and no seasoning. When the rude waitress came to ask us if everything was OK we told here what was wrong and she replied "I have never had these many complaints I guess people like different things " and then walked away and never came back till she dropped off the bill which she did take off the hash and pancakes because we didn't eat them . No one came to refill our coffee.. its also important to mention the rude waitress went up to another waitress and said to her I'm doing this to prove a point today because what she did was wrong . we will never be back and caution people not to waste there time ! Worst breakfast place I have ever went to in my 47yrs ! Want great breakfast in that area go to Hungry heaven!”
