“I’m from Chicago. So I’m a bit of a food snob. And I can’t say enough good things about this place. The food was outstanding!!! The birria taco was everyone’s favorite but I also had the Baja fish and the grilled shrimp tacos. All of them were delish. And then the true showstopper was the hibiscus margarita that had a cinnamon, salt, and fennel rim. I subbed mezcal for tequila on the drink and it was perfection. Eat here!!!“

“It was an unplanned visit to High Cotton. Our party was very underdressed. The hostess was quite pompous and gave the impression we should go elsewhere. Obviously if it was a planned dinner we would have been well dressed. The food was exceptional. The staff were incredible. But our waiter, Jamal, made our experience very memorable. He made sure we were welcome despite our attire. Jamal and my 11 year old grandson became good friends for the evening. Jamal was impressed with my grandson's order of a pot of mussels in garlic sauce, smoked duck, lobster mac and cheese and strawberry shortcake. Jamal was the highlight of our evening. “Awesome place to eat, I had no idea it was right next to the pour house. The service was awesome, the suggestions were better and I know I’ll be making a 2nd return maybe even a 3rd. The atmosphere was great and they had a beautiful bar and more seating outside which is covered my plants so you’d never know there would be seating. It also blocks the traffic, I would have to say I did love the drinks but I’d rather a cider beer. But I managed and overall an awesome place.“

Went here after the aquarium with my wife and kids. We had a short wait for our table and the hostess and wait staff were incredibly kind and attentive.

I ordered the “Naughty Burger” my wife got the Basic Bowl with chicken and we got 2 kids PB&Js. The food was all very tasty. One of my kids PB&Js came out burnt/over toasted but they remade it quickly and without fuss.

My youngest was overtired and not on very good behavior unfortunately so we had to take her out for some fresh air to calm down twice but the staff was very understanding and kind.

If I had to say something negative I’d say it’s a little expensive for what it is. Each adult entree was a decent portion size and about $20 which feels a little steep but still reasonable. The PB&J with some apple slices was $8 a piece which is nuts, but I understand they have a business to run and have to cover wages and overhead—and the food was good.

Definitely worth checking out if you’re not going with kids or if your kids are old enough to order adult entrees. Solid spot for a light lunch.“

We finished our lunch having been there a total of one hour , enjoying talk with nephew who we hadn’t seen in months when another employee rudely and abruptly said “so, are you ready to settle up?” Never have we felt like we were being ejected from a restaurant! And the real rub is there were at least 3 empty tables and a booth in our seating area. We three were so stunned by her rude manners, we politely gave her our card, (and she took the liberty of pre-selecting a 22% tip which we gladly gave our server)paid our bill and left - NEVER TO RETURN!“

I’ve been fans of Kwei Fei since back in the days of their pop ups at The Daily. They’ve always brought the heat (literally) and have been eager to try this new venture, Beautiful South.

Stopped in for Sunday Brunch and it did not disappoint. The char siu fried rice had that familiar wok char and was on point! Also had the char siu bao, salt and pepper pork, and shumai. It brought back memories of dim sum in the Bay Area (big compliment) but without the old lady that gets mad when u don’t like what she has on her cart! ?
