“The service and food were excellent today. Oscars rarely disappoints. My only issue is the surcharge for using a credit card. Now the menu prices were all high as most so I have to ask how cheesy for Oscars to embarrass this establishment by noting this increase on my receipt. Guys this is a premium dining establishment. Pinching more $ I think should we embarrassing to proprietor. Stop this! If you don't have your menu costed correctly that's your problem to figure out.“

“The restaurant was very clean. The staff was very friendly, courteous and very professional. My husband had the Cobb sandwich which was huge with plenty of meat. It came with french fries that were nice and crispy. I had the wings which were very good and the other people in our party had a flatbread which they stated was wonderful. Thank you“

“First up the food was very good. Crab stuffed hush puppies alone were worth the trip to get there (for us). Shrimp and grits were top of the mark also. The decor had this 50s diner meets 80s color pallet that some how works very good. Staff was friendly. Definitely will go back.“

“Middleton Place is honestly a must see if you are visiting Charleston. Its is way more than just a spot for pretty pictures. The grounds are absolutely massive, and walking through the oldest landscaped gardens in the country with all those giant live oaks right on the river is stunning. But what makes this place actually worth the trip is how they do not sugarcoat the past. Their tour gives a real, heavy look into the lives of the enslaved people who actually built the property, which is super eye opening and powerful. Between checking out the old farm animals in the stableyards and taking in the history, it is easily one of the coolest, most memorable stops in the area.“

“Small African American restaurant. We white folks just off the plane from NYC were greeted like old friends by the ladies behind the counter. And the food was great. Was going to get just a vegetable plate — the lima beans were fantastic (never thought I’d say those words). The fried pork chop out of this world. The cashier made sure I got the free cornbread. Oh yeah, the bread pudding was out of this world.“

“Willie Jewell‘s BarBQ on University Boulevard is our go-to place for barbecue! We love dining in or getting carry-out. All the meats are excellent AND the sides are flavorful and quite varied, including daily special sides. The portions are generous and one of my favorite things about dining in is that all the sauces are WARM and available in a large pump dispenser. It’s always sad to me to put cold sauce on warm meat … that never happens at Willie Jewell‘s BarBQ on University Boulevard! The restaurant has an old-fashioned and lighthearted atmosphere and the staff are pleasant and efficient.“

“I was with a group of 5 couples. We were seated quickly, and service was prompt. Our server gave us excellent service. She delivered rolls to the table as soon as we sat down. What happened to those great fluffy rolls? Ours were cold and kinda flat. The food was acceptable. A couple of people commented that some portions were bit small but overall, good food. What caught our attention the most is the condition of the ceiling. The ceiling tiles were nasty and the AC vents are rusted. We were seated to the right of the main dining room in the separate section.“

“I stopped in for dinner and had a very good experience. Chicken was freshly cooked, moist and delicious. The sides were good. The cinnamon buns were a hit with my family, and the service was really good.“
