“Finally, an authentic West Texas [El Paso] Mexican restaurant in Charleston, SC. The food was delicious with layers of seasoning and flavors. Authentic Hatch Chilis!! Everything was wonderful. Not your Daddy's Mexican restaurant.Update 4.16.2024: unfortunately the food quality has decreased since Patty left Rancho Lewis. Our last few visits have seen a significant slip in food quality - stale tortillas, room temp food, un-melted cheese in Chilis Rellenos, .... the food just misses the mark. Some items are still excellent, but there are disappointments also in execution.“

“The food is amazing and authentic. The workers are super nice and the food comes out fast. There isn't much of an atmosphere because it is a grocery store, but it's still super cool to look around at all the stuff that they have. they also have really amazing baked goods.“

“I thought the service was great, particularly the bar tender. He deserves 5 stars, we asked a ton of questions and he was so patient, and nice in-spite of being busy on a Friday night. He overheard me saying that I didn't care for the wine I ordered and volunteered to take it of the bill and make something that I would actually enjoy. That was an example of attentive customer service. The food had an authentic taste and flavor. The appetizer that we selected was guacamole and chips it was pretty good. My entree was the Carne Asada Crunch Wrap which was very good. The beef was tender and all of the flavors worked well together. My only suggestion would be to tone down the salt just a bit. It was little bit too much for me. Overall I would likely order that again to share and try one of the small plates to go with it in the future. It was pretty busy for a Friday night and there was a short wait for our table so we opted for the bar which was fine primarily due to the great service. The atmosphere was dimly lit inside and it would be a nice little date spot.“

“We had a great time at Tierra Caliente. As we came in, we were immediately seated by a man with a big smile on his face. We sat down and he took our drink order right away, and served us quickly. Overall staff was very friendly and kind. But the real standout was the food. The chips were piping hot and the salsa was great, the tacos (while small) pack huge flavor. These are some of the best tacos I've ever had, so flavorful and juicy. The street corn was also incredible. I've had it at other restaurants before, but here it was also so flavorful. We ended with churros which were piping hot, and a great value for how many we got. Excellent experience all around.“

“Awesome food and service! It’s a fair price for the amount of food you actually get with each order! We’ve been here so much that they actually kinda know us! It’s a family owned restaurant I believe owned by some really nice Mexicans. The food is good and the chips and queso are out of this world! Honestly in my opinion chipotle chips are the best but the queso here is top on the list so combine chipotle chips with los Reyes queso and you will be tasting a bite of heaven lol. “My first time at this place. I've been wanting to go based on how packed the parking lot is and it looks like a party. I went on a Friday afternoon at 3pm. One hour before happy hour (story of my life). There were very few people there. You seat yourself outside. The patio has been decorated like a tropical rainforest. It's unlike anything I've been to so far in Charleston. I was served chips and salsa immediately and asked what I wanted to drink. I ordered a mango margarita. I'm always on a quest for carne asada fries. They almost have them. They have skirt steak w fries. I had them put the steak on the fries and cover w cheese. Delish!! The meal came w beans and rice and 2 flour and 2 corn tortillas. Everything from the food to the service to the ambiance was on point. Highly recommend. Especially since I am posting on Cinco de Mayo. It's going to be an epic party there today.“

“Looking for authentic Mexican food? This is the place to be! I have eaten here about 5 or 6 times in the last two months. Their service is top tier, food is great, and atmosphere is great. The salsa with chips before your meal is amazing, they are constantly checking on you, and making sure you are doing well. Anytime I come there is not a long wait for seating and food. “This spot is a fantastic mom and pop Mexian food truck. You can tell they put some love into their food and it shows because I had one of the best torta sandwiches ever! Definitely a must if you're around Daniel's Island and you want something authentic.“

“Los Reyes is a great option for quick, local Mexican cuisine! The atmosphere was clean and inviting. I loved the option to sit outside with the garage doors open and the bar flow between the main dining and outdoor. Service was great - Alex was awesome! He was extremely attentive and friendly. He provided recommendations and was also checking in on our table. My friends ordered a variety of margaritas (frozen and on the rocks - all delicious they said, especially the Pomegranate.) For food, it all came out hot and Alex's recommendations were well received by the table. Everyone spoke very highly of their plates. I had the biggest disappointment with my salad. I asked for a few accommodations but when it came out, it was not what I expected at all (minimal ingredients, barely ANY lettuce). Also, when I got an additional side of veggies, they were DRENCHED in oil. I think next time, I'll get a new menu item instead. Like I said, overall a great expereince and would go back!“

“Rico's Taco Cafe is an authentic Mexican taco truck where you can get high-quality eats and really enjoy the culture. I love popping in here to sample the tacos and the service is fast and friendly each time! The carnitas tacos are definitely a favorite of mine, but I've yet to be disappointed in any of their options. They have a covered seating area also refreshments if your thirsty. They have something sure to please every palate so come check them out!“

The food was good and the service was good. My only complaint was my husband & I are bigger people (XL not XXL) and they seated us in a booth that was so tight that both of our ribs were against the table, (there were other tables available they could have sat us at but we didn’t complain or ask to be moved) we made it work but it was a little awkward.If I am ever in the area again I would eat there again I would just ask to be seated at a different table“

“My girlfriend and I are in town for a week and hit this spot randomly after a beach day with the dog. What a find! The jalepeno shrimp tacos are seriously the best shrimp tacos I've ever had, and the price is not super inflated like a lot of other "Street taco" style places I've been to. Margaritas were on point (prickly pear is hands down the best) and nice and strong. Even with all the choices we have around Charleston for only being here a week we chose to come here multiple times because of how good it was. The local community that Lucky Luchador serves is warm and welcoming--as an out of towner I felt completely embraced by them. “We traveled from L.A. to visit our family in Charleston, and while out and about we found this hidden gem, I mean Lucy's Kitchen. Here we found Mexican and Puerto Rican food, everything was delicious. I recommend the Torta, the Mofongo, the Swiss Enchiladas and the Mole Enchiladas. Excellent flavor and good portions. “I went for lunch with a buddy. I got two carnitas tacos with rice and beans which is their lunch special. Everything was great the meat was very flavorful. “I stopped by for a quick work lunch after searching on Yelp. Plenty of street parking. Short line inside, looked like a blue collar kinda place. Walk up to the counter and there's a steam table full of meat and beans. I ordered the Carne Asada Special burrito. It was full of meat, beans, rice, and guac. Very friendly counter service. Prices are decent and your order is made quickly. They dumped a scoop of chips in my bag... a little grease on the paper bag never hurt anyone! Salsa is nice and spicy. Went back to work and ate it up. Good flavor but coulda used some pico inside to round it out. I'll be back to try something else next time.“

It was brought to our table about 10 minutes later and was absolutely fantastic. There were two hot sauces on the table for use to adjust the level of spice you want. “I’m Mexican, from California & lived in Nevada for a while. But Mixteca in South Carolina is the best Mexican food I’ve ever had. The decor is very nice too I love the designs on the chairs and I love the Mexican style plates & cups.
