Lyman's best places for Mexican cuisine are in our list.
“A pleasant surprise, it does not seem like much from the outside but decided to check it out and I was impressed by the food. I’ve tried several Mexican food spots in the area and this is towards the top of the best I’ve tried. The chip and salsa are good, and I think that’s where most other spots in the area disappoint. The chips were not too thick, but had a nice crisp to them. The salsa had flavor, as did all of the food we tried. The meats in our taco trio were flavored well, and beans had flavor, the rice was nice and fluffy. Servers were nice, and attentive. The food came out relatively quick, and the pricing per plate was fair. It wasn’t overly crowded like some spots down the road. It left me excited to come back and try more of their food, some other spots in the area were a 1 and done for me. Definitely worth giving it a try!“
“This place is sort of in the middle of nowhere, but worth the exploration. The restaurant is very clean and nice. Service was okay. The food is the star and they give you good portions. The price is also reasonable for what you get. It’s certainly one of the better Mexican restaurants in the area.“
“The art that splashes the walls here is just a small taste of what is about to be an amazing lunch if you eat here. All food I could tell was ten to twenty dollars a plate. Majority being on the cheaper side. Greeted with chips and mild/hot salsa seconds from entering the door in a packed restaurant. Me and my parents tried several different meals. ( The bistick Mexicano I can't recommend more it was utterly delicious) This is a hard working restaurant that respects the flavors of Mexico.“
“The flavor of the food was so beautiful I’ve never experienced such a taste! The carne asada was superb the fajitas was finger licking good and the waitress Liz was so accommodating with a beatiful personality. I am in love with this restaurant it is home now I live about 2 hours away but I will be back for date nights!! The gentlemen who I believe was the manger was so kind and welcoming he made the best Mexican sunsets?“
“Whenever I return to a place I used to live, there are certain restaurants I make sure to go back to while I’m visiting, usually the ones that left the best impression. Chips and Cheese is that place for me here in Upstate South Carolina. With a hearty selection of delicious menu options catered by a friendly staff in a comforting classic Mexican diner atmosphere, this place has set a new standard in which all Mexican restaurants I’ve gone to since have been held to, and few have come even close to matching. You won’t regret selecting this place, I assure you.“
“Our family enjoys when we eat here. The food is always great, even more flavorful than other similar restaurants. The staff is friendly and the restaurant is clean. We will continue eating here!Kid-friendliness: Always lots of kids and staff is always kind to our kiddo.“
“When people say authentic they are not kidding this is as authentic as it gets. For very good very authentic home cooked Mexican food then this has got to be one of the best little local places around the Spartanburg Greenville area!! A must try and one visit will turn into many because very few places can compare for the food.Super friendly people run this place and it's also a bakery and the cakes are also some of the best I've ever had and I love cake so I'll have to find a reason to order a cake because it's awesome from here!!And their prices are more than reasonable.“
“This has to be one of my favorite places to eat in Greer. I haven't gotten to go in and sit down to enjoy the atmosphere in over a year but I know they use to have a salsa bar and it was great no matter how mild or spicy you wanted it you could find it along with other great dips. My favorite has got to be the chimichanga's, fajita enchiladas, and of course the Queso!!!!Parking: The parking lot is a little small and crowded on busy days and nights but you can always park in the CVS or sherwan Williams parking lot right beside of it.Kid-friendliness: The staff is very friendly and they have a kids section on the menu, and high chairs if you need them. Don't really know what else to say...sorry I don't have any Rugrats yet.Wheelchair accessibility: I'm pretty sure that the parking lot is level with the sidewalk so fairly easy to maneuver wheelchairs. The front entrance should be wide enough as well.“
“Food was phenomenal more than fair price too. The service was so amazing the person that took our order was so sweet. My burrito was very well made and delicious was very large too more than worth 10 dollars. The best lemonade I've ever had very large cup too so very worth the price. In conclusion very worth the stop will go again.“
“Small bakery and restaurant under one roof offering Mexican sweet bread and fairly authentic Mexican food. The lady taking my order was nice and my food didn't take long to be served. I ordered a Huarache de Chorizo and a Taco de Suadero. The food was flavorful and fresh, and the salsas had a nice kick and flavor.Parking: Dedicated lot to bakery.Kid-friendliness: Family-friendly place.Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair accessible parking and seating.“
“I had the ceviche tostada it was so delicious I had to order another one my son had the steak quesadilla he love it I also had the mojarra which is fried fish my son tasted ? and I had to order a second one first time here will definitely comeback the price was reasonable so definitely worth “
“I'm from New Mexico and let me tell you, this food is really good. Prices aren't crazy, ambiance is sleek but with hispanic influence which I like. Service was quick and he was very nice. I noticed he checked up on other people often and seemed like he was genuinely a good person. Do yourself a favor and eat here when you're craving mexican food.“
“El Jalisco in Greer, South Carolina, is a restaurant that will make your taste buds dance like no one is watching! Let me tell you, folks, this place is so good, it'll make you say "Olé" louder than a Spanish bull fighter at a rodeo! When you walk through the doors of El Jalisco, you're greeted with a warm smile that's as comforting as a cozy blanket on a chilly night. The ambiance is as inviting as a backyard barbecue, and you'll feel right at home, just like when your kids finally clean their room without being asked! Now, let's talk about the food, because that's what we're all here for, right? The menu at El Jalisco is like a treasure trove of deliciousness. Their salsa is so fresh, it's like they plucked the tomatoes straight from the garden and sprinkled them with magic. And speaking of magic, their guacamole is so creamy and flavorful. It's like a unicorn made it with its own little hooves! But let's not stop there, folks. The main course is where El Jalisco truly shines. Their fajitas are sizzling hot and bursting with flavor. It's like a fiesta in your mouth, and every bite is a celebration! And don't even get me started on their enchiladas. They're so cheesy that they could win an award for being the "grate-est" dish in town! Now, let me sprinkle in a few corny dad jokes about food, just for flavor. Are you ready? Here we go!Why don't scientists trust atoms? Because they make up everything, just like the ingredients in El Jalisco's mouthwatering dishes!Did you hear about the mathematician who became a chef? He loved to make pi-es!Why did the tomato turn red? Because it saw the salad dressing!Okay, okay, I'll stop with the jokes and get back to the review. The service at El Jalisco is as attentive as a parent watching their child's first school play. The staff is friendly, efficient, and always ready with a smile, just like a dad with an endless supply of dad jokes! And let's not forget about the drinks, folks. El Jalisco has a fantastic selection of margaritas that are as refreshing as a dip in the pool on a hot summer's day. They're so good, they'll make you forget about your worries faster than your kids forget to do their chores! In conclusion, El Jalisco in Greer, South Carolina, is a restaurant that serves up delicious food with a side of corny dad jokes. From the moment you walk in, you'll be treated like family, and the food will have you coming back for more. So gather your loved ones, put on your stretchy pants, and head on over to El Jalisco for a dining experience that'll make you say, "Holy guacamole, this place is amazing!" ??“
“The caldo de res was the primary reason that I would go to this restaurant. When they first put it on the menu I was absolutely thrilled. It was absolutely delicious. It used to be really good. It had big chunks of potatoes and carrots in it, the rice was served on the side, there was a lot of broth, so a few days ago I ordered it, and it was nothing but beef and rice, there wasn't any broth, the rice soaked up all the broth, so it was just basically beef and rice soup, no vegetables. No potatoes. No carrots. Well I take that back. There were two tiny pieces, a tiny piece of carrot and a tiny piece of potato. So I went in today and I asked what was in the caldo. The waitress said potatoes carrots beef and rice and other vegetables. I get the soup and there's no potatoes and there's no carrots. I asked the waitress to please bring me some potatoes for my soup. She said okay. She came back with a huge bowl of vegetables but there was not one single potato or carrot. I guess that's their way of telling me not to come back. I can take a hint. So I guess from now on we go to Duncan family restaurant. I'm not going to pay $15 for beef and rice soup. They just need to start calling it beef and rice soup. They shouldn't be calling it Caldo de res.“
“One of the best tacos in town. Loads of options to garnish the tacos - raw onions, cilantro, cucumber, lemon. Their salsas are also flavorful and add a lot of flavour to the tacos. ? I had a corn on a cob, and it was good too.Other options are also available quesadilla and torta.“
“Very few Mexican restaurants in the area; This is a really good restaurant. Excellent food. The mesquite steak has a wonderful flavor. Chicken enchiladas were scrumptious. Having grown up in South Texas, I found this place that might as well be in Nueces County. Next time I will try the seafood. Muy Sabroso!“
“Everything about this place is wonderful. Especially the food and they use natural oils for cooking! No seed or vegetable oils ever. They've become a huge part of our lives in Duncan. Even had my birthday dinner here ❤️. We love you Los Mexicanos!!“
“This place is bussin. Some of the best little tacos I have ever had. Burritos are bangin as well. It's all good in the hood when I get food here. Everything on the menu is worth a try. I love the little sauces they have but with they had something just another step up from their hot sauce because chili head is life. Go here and grub out.“
“This is a must visit Restaurante! You won’t be disappointed!Absolutely amazing food, very fresh tasting and the plating presentation was picture worthy! And besides it being one of the best tasting Chori Pollo plates I’ve ever had, The portion was very generous for the low price!Immaculately clean restaurant and the staff were very friendly, inviting and attentive! My daughter and I pulled into the parking lot at 10 minutes till 10 PM, and the open sign was still on, but I hate going into establishments at the last minute. As we pulled up, one of the waitresses waved to us from inside the restaurant, and Inviting us to come in and eat. They had already mopped one side of the restaurant and put the chairs up on the table, but still invited us to come and sit down and enjoy our dinner. They did not rush us, and they showed such hospitality the entire visit. Out of courtesy we ordered quickly and were prepared to eat quickly, but the waitress assured us that it was OK and we were welcome to take our time. The food came out several minutes later, very hot and very fresh, and looked amazing, and it did not disappoint! At no point did we feel rushed or that we were even inconveniencing them, as they were so attentive to us. Being the only patrons in the restaurant, we did feel bad and ate quickly, but it was still very satisfying and an amazing A+ + experience. Thank you to the staff and the cooks for a great evening. We will be back, and we will tell everyone we know to try your restaurant!“
“The vibe at El Conquistador Mexican Restaurant #2 was amazing! It had a lively and energetic atmosphere that made the dining experience even more enjoyable. The restaurant had vibrant decor, upbeat music, and friendly staff that added to the overall positive vibe. It's definitely a place where you can have a great time while enjoying delicious Mexican cuisine. ?“
“Not a fancy place, but don't let that slow you down. This place had really really fresh food and it was delicious ? The service was on point as well. I had a chicken ACP with shrimp and mushrooms. The chips were thin and crispy, very fresh!. Highly recommended ?“
“My boyfriend loves Mexican food. The spicier the better. They have a craft salsa bar that had super hot to mild. Great service and good never disappoints. If you are lucky enough to go when there is a party in the side room you'll get authentic live music. Beer tower is hilarious.“
“If you're looking for real authentic Mexican food, then this is the place to go. Try the Huaraches a huge taco that will satisfy your hunger. Seafood dishes, in my opinion, are one of the best I've had. I drive from Charlotte NC to this place to get the real authentic Mexican food.“
“Hard for me to give a review cuz I stopped in for 15 minutes to get a margarita. I was the only person there and they were closing up. But I think it's worth mentioning that I was not rushed in the least when I was there. In fact, I was asked if I wanted a second one. I feel like I could have ordered food and it would have been fine as well. This is all 10 minutes before there closing time. So I really appreciated it that.“
“Our server was amazing, the food was excellent. Having a sensitive stomach, it was nice to find food that wasn't overly spicy. I've been on a mission to find the one mexican restaurant that has good salsa, queso, food, and margaritas all at the same place. So far this is the first in my few years here that has checked all 4 boxes at once. We will be back, and hope that it wasn't just a fluke (or we were just really hungry so anything tasted good at that time!) But I do have a feeling we will become regulars at this establishment. Between the 3 of us, we had Pollo fundido, chimichanga, tamale & burrito combo, large queso, small guacamole, side of sour cream, 2 big margaritas, and 2 regular drinks - the total was right at seventy-five bucks, just to give you an idea of prices.Kid-friendliness: Had a decent size kid menu“
“The food is excellent. Occasionally they leave the cactus out too long, so watch that. The burritos are huge and tasty. Marinated habanero onions give a nice kick, as does the red salsa. Only 2 tables, so be prepared to eat in your car, or have your napkins blown all over the place at the picnic tables. I recommend!“
“Atmosphere here is great and service was very good. Restaurant is fairly clean. Food seems fairly authentic although somewhat bland at points. Chips are average. Queso is average. My wife and I both had chicken-based dishes... chicken was somewhat bland, beans were very bland, and rice was a bit bland and undercooked. One bright spot was that the chorizo was excellent. While they could definitely benefit from enhancing flavor... fairly good Mexican overall.“
“We stopped here for late lunch on a Monday while driving home from TN, what a treat! We are a family of 7 with 5 little kids and most places hesitate to sit us right away, we were greeted with a genuine smile, the baby was given a cute bib and crackers while the rest of us munched on chips and salsa. All the food came out quickly and hot, the portions are huge! We had mojarra (fried fish) and Menudo, both were authentic flavor. Our server Amaro was very pleasant and made sure the kids were content, they even helped me cut my kids’ burgers while I was feeding the baby, talk about great customer service!!!Absolutely recommend for families and will make sure to stop by anytime we drive this way from GA. Thank you :)Kid-friendliness: Lots of options for kids, they were happy“
“Wow! Corona Mexican is fantastic! Their chips are always hot and fresh and served with mild and medium salsas. Two of us had lunch with leftovers and Dr. Peppers for $18.00! You can't beat that.Service can be on the slow side especially when they have a full house so fortunately we weren't in a big hurry.Parking: Free parking lot around the restaurant“
“The salsa was a little blended too well and too spicy. I prefer a little milder and chunky. Fajitas, steak, chicken, and ? were delicious, tender meat, along with the rice and beans. Some places have a sour cream which goes well. The drinks were good as well. Chocolate cheese cake was good. Service was outstanding and attentive. Great place to eat ?“
“Their pollo fundido was as little bland, but the lunch portion was wonderful. It wasn't too much. I really loved their bean dip, and they brought us grilled jalapenos when we wanted it spicier.Great atmosphere and it was nice and relaxing. Definitely didn't feel rushed.“
“We decided to try, and the food was damn good. I ordered nachos and have never had grilled shrimp on nachos, slices of pork and beef, enough for two people. No problems with staff, just very home like and casual. The atmosphere of a California vib, only visiting Cali of course, but definitely different than the typical southern restaurant.“
“This is very typical Mexican restaurant, not fancy, however, the food is delicious, service is great, and also an affordable place to eat. Overall a safe family restaurant with yummy food. I love Gorditas, enchiladas, and fajitas, those are my favorite ones. My son loves their burritos.I highly recommend this place.“
“Really good authentic Mexican food. Since the building looks like it might have been an old house. It feels very homey. Similar to other Mexican restaurants you get bean dip with your chips. But, there is a salsa bar that has a variety of salsas and cilantro and onions. As for almost any restaurant I go.to, I would recommend going for lunch. I think you get a better value. I only deducted one star because the service can be a little slow at times. Usually there is only one waiter for the whole dining area. It is a small place though.“
“Casa Carrion is my family’s absolute FAVORITE RESTAURANT! We eat there at least 3 times a week! Isabel, Daniel, and the rest of their family make us feel like WE are a part of their family too! There’s nowhere else I wanted to spend my birthday tonight! Isabel was top notch as always, and made my birthday very special!! And our server, Eliza, was terrific! Thank you both!! ❤️“
