“I ordered a Stromboli and got a calzone instead with the wrong items on it. Didn’t realize until I was back to my hotel! The calzone was delicious anyway!

I really enjoyed the Italian sausage that is sliced. The red sauce was great and not too sweet! I will return, next time getting my Stromboli.“

“The General Tso's lunch was OK. The chicken pieces were, at least, bite sized. They were not breaded too much. The rice was good and there was an appropriate amount of sauce in there. My keys were lost and when I tell you they were amazing in helping locate them after a hour of searching!!! “To be honest, I lived in Texas for a few years and my hopes for Memphis Mexican restaurants were not high. However, I’m pregnant and I was craving authentic Mexican food really bad. I looked at photos of every Mexican restaurant in Memphis to try to find the one that looked like the most authentic atmosphere and I landed on El Mezcal. We showed up on Saturday night at 7pm and were seated immediately. The second we were seated, they already brought us chips and salsa and were asking for our drink orders. We unfortunately didn’t catch our server’s name, but it was her first day and she was absolutely on top of it. We ordered nachos with chicken, Burritos Azteca, and Fajitas. I don’t remember the type of fajitas, but it had chicken, shrimp, steak, and cactus on it. All the food was absolutely phenomenal, large portions, and by far worth the cost, which was only right under $60. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough, definitely the best experience I ever could have hoped for. Thank you!“

“Yes this is a shopping center that has the world famous Huey Burger, in Cordova Tennessee. Huey's has been around forever this is the second location. The owner of Huey's played drums in the box tops. Their Madison Burger is to die for. Bacon mushrooms lettuce tomato. The burger is so big I had to cut it and have just so I could eat it. I would suggest bringing your own water, a soda in here is 3.50 . I like the fact that you can see every single sporting event going on at the same time.“

She made the comment that the “toilet was really nice.” which I chuckled so told the staff about it as we were heading out. One of the employees, Lucas, let my daughter hug him at her own will unpromted and gave her a small bear he had attached to his phone. It made her day! “My family and I went in and were somewhat apprehensive after the last restaurant we went to. However as soon as we walked in the staff was incredibly friendly. The place was clean and had a fun atmosphere where you could either listen to music, watch tv, or simply talk to the people you came with. The food portions were huge. It was so good. As a culinary journalist, these are my favorite types of restaurants to document, I love a mom and pop generational establishment.It was a pleasure to meet the granddaughter of the original owners, Gus and Gertrude. She was pleasant and helpful in picking the perfect meal for our family.We went with the 8pc family meal - came with 2 breast, 2 wings. 2 thighs and 2 drumsticks with baked beans, cole slaw and fried green tomatoes.She forewarned us that the flavors are not the same as the franchise flavors. I was a bit scared as I highly enjoyed what I had in Austin. It was such a happy surprise that the chicken here was even better! The skin is much spicier, and the meat was just as juicy.The cole slaw was my favorite side, with the baked beans following and the fried green tomatoes coming in 3rd place.If you enjoy fried chicken, I would definitely recommend a stop at this tried and true TN state staple! Worth the drive and 20min + wait for this legendary chicken!“
