“I ate there for the first time this week and I have to say it was one of the finest meals I’ve ever eaten. Everything was cooked to perfection in some of the most delicious sauces I’ve had. Cameron was our server and he was helpful and friendly and we liked him very much. Be sure to ask for him. Hate it took me so long to go there and can’t wait to go back.“

“I came to support a group of students earlier this week to celebrate winning king and queen of the school. First of all let me say the staff was very rude to the administration staff. Even though reservations were made and confirmed and they knew in advance that the students were coming they refused to seat our party and denied the reservations ever being made even after being shown the email messages. The female manager asked for us to wait outside of the restaurant being that it was about 42 degrees that day until the limousine arrived to pick the students back up . The children were dressed in their Sunday best with white dresses and the young boys were in tuxedos and were looking forward to having their luncheon that was awarded to them for their hard work at school. I strongly believe that if the students were not all African American and staff as well they would have treated us differently. I will never ever support nor spend money with Majestic Grill again. I was hurt the way they treated these students who worked oh so hard and were looking forward to what was supposed to be a special day to remember.“

“My wife and I spent two nights in Memphis recently. we ate at Blues City Cafe two nights in a row. The first night we had the BBQ ribs, and they were the best I've ever had. The restaurant was so good we went back the second night and had the best ribeye steak I've ever had in my entire life. If you're in the Memphis area, make sure you go to Blues City Cafe. “Our dining experience was comparable, if not above, the one we had at the French Laundry, in Napa. From being seated to our departure the service and cuisine were magnificent. The service staff was exemplary. All were very congenial, knowledgeable, helpful, and masterful of their responsibilities Our dining was preceded by being seated, by, Bella, for a short wait, where were given Champagne and hors'doeuvres. After being seated our server, Solomon, brought us two perfectly made dry, shaken, Grey Goose Martinis served up. We ordered the four course menu. I had my courses with the wine pairing of the evening. and my wife enjoyed a bottle of 2023 Cake Bread Chardonnay. While we enjoyed our cocktail we were served an assortment of appetizers and a bread serving. Our first course was a serving of two very rich and tasty ravioli. Our second course was a serving of Ahi Tuna Crudo ,which was delightful in it's mixture of tuna fruit and spice. Prior to our third course were invited to meet the chef in the kitchen and enjoy a palette cleanser. The chef was a young, pleasant, cordial, and very interesting man. For our third course we had the Tornados of Elk which was tender, savory and cooked to perfection. For our fourth Course I had the strawberry shortcake and my wife the White Chocolate Ice cream . Both desserts were the perfect ending to a splendid repast. I whole heartedly recommend Chez Philippe for a delightful dining experience.“

Today, I’m sharing my experience at Char Restaurant, located on Highland Street in Memphis. This is a fine dining restaurant, and I chose it to celebrate my friend’s birthday. We made a reservation for two, and everything from the moment we arrived was smooth and welcoming.

We were seated promptly, and the atmosphere was elegant and relaxing, just as you’d expect from a fine dining establishment. The staff were courteous and professional. I don’t recall the name of our server, but he took excellent care of us throughout the evening.

🍽️ What We Ordered:
Fried Chicken (Main Course) – Served with vegetables and gravy, this dish was absolutely delicious. The flavors were rich and well-balanced, and the presentation was spot on.
Shrimp and Grits with French Fries – My friend ordered this and mentioned it was the best she’s ever had. The shrimp were well-cooked, and the grits were creamy and flavorful.
Blueberry Banana Pudding – This dessert was a delightful surprise. I had asked the server to bring it out as a birthday surprise, and he did so perfectly — bringing it out when she wasn’t looking, which made the moment even more special.
💬 Final Thoughts:
We had a wonderful time celebrating, and my friend truly enjoyed her special day. I really appreciate the hospitality and attention to detail shown by the Char team. The food, service, and ambiance all came together to create a memorable experience.

We’re definitely planning to return soon to explore more of the menu.

I was served by Shannon C who is friendly, polite, professional, courteous, and has a GREAT sense of humor, so make sure to ask for Shannon C. The decorations on the Wall and elsewhere is Cool and Funky. The whole Menu has good selections. I ordered the Steak Burger with Mushrooms, Onions and Gravy, Eggs with Coffee that is delicious.
