“Once again the salmon entree was unique and delicious!! My dining companions so enjoyed the lamb special! I LOVE the French 75 on the cocktails menu; that's a wonderfully and (maybe slightly) different spin on a French 75. My Napa Salad was exactly what I wanted, and the evening's creme brulee special was the perfect way to end a superb dining experience!“
“I don't know why it to us so long to try Brother Jupiter's but what a mistake is was waiting. We got there and we were #15 on the wait list bit in no time we were seated. Our waiter was right there to take our drink order and then our food order. My wife got the French toast meal, my son got the fireman omelet and I got the waffle meal. My wife's French toast was very tasty, the egg was cooked to perfection, the bacon was really good and the potatoes were awesome. My son loved his fireman omelet and his cheesy grits were excellent. My waffle was amazing, my egg was also cooked to perfection and my plain grits were plan grits. I also ordered a biscuit and side gravy that was ok but probably won't order them again. We really enjoyed our meal.“
“Such a cool place to dine!! The building is 100 years old and once was a theater where they showed silent movies! They have maintained the charm of the old theater. They even have very old movies playing on the back wall. Truly a beautiful interior! Our waitress was delightful and very attentive. It isn't a cheap meal but excellent food. I could have had steak but I went for their specialty grilled cheese. Delicious! Their Parmesan fries were a tasty side. Others in my past had specialty burgers and even a flatbread pizza. Everyone was happy with their meal. I will likely come again when I am in downtown Memphis.“
“Five stars all around!!! Staff was AMAZING, super friendly and patient while we decided what to order. We went with the K.C. Melt and after we finished eating it we ended up ordering two more to go!! The meat was tender and delicious. The Philly melt was just okay, wouldn’t recommend that one. But the meat was still really good inside just different than expected.“
“Have eaten at McEwen's numerous times. Always good, always fresh, always consistent. Great menu choices-something to please everyone: meat eaters, vegetarians & vegans. Like that there are seasonal additions to the menu. Great service & cocktails. Very comfortable, relaxing atmosphere- not loud or noisy. It's like fine dining without all the pretentiousness. A favorite place.“
“Great food, good location, nice atmosphere. The music is great - but generally too loud to carry on a conversation (so it's not ideal for a date if there's a band playing. Check ahead). Probably my favorite place to eat in Overton Square.“
“Been here a couple of times & like it very much. Have tried numerous menu items & some cocktails. Some dishes were excellent & some very good but all were enjoyable. Especially like the Caesar salad & Chicken Marsala. Only thing didn't care for was the olive oil martini. Love the casual atmosphere & great, friendly service. Will be regulars -good food, excellent service, reasonable prices without the fussy atmosphere.“
“This is a staple for us when it comes to business lunches. The service and food are always incredible. The food is always so fresh and the menu changes per season, which is awesome. Highly recommend! Great for business and romantic meals alike.Dietary restrictions: They ask if you have any every time.“
“J. Alexander never disappoints !! Food, Service and Atmosphere always top notch !! For dinner we had the Lasagna and the Cilantro Shrimp both were very very tasty. Also had the Carrot Cake for dessert and it was EXCELLENT !!Highly recommend J. Alexander.“
“I went here on a whim during a work trip to Memphis and was absolutely blown away by this restaurant. The food was phenomenal - there was creativity, depth, and surprises with every menu item and drink I ordered. I appreciated the care taken to create an interesting mocktail and am very much looking forward to my next visit here!I had the scallops, carrots, and Brussels. Everything was delicious!“
“Here because my friend Blake is terrible and someone needs to correct her terrible review. David was a vision, and David's drinks were a vision. In our time there we laughed, we cried laughing, and we drank some dranks. Through it all, we had our tour guide David holding our hands and our hearts. We were not easy - David did not ask this of us. Instead he gave us hope, faith, fire, and beautiful drinks. 10 out of 10 would go back and see my new best friend David - hopefully without that B word Blake.“
“Had a small dark at shut the cluck up and it started out as a little spicy but it got hotter over time. I eat lots of really spicy food and this was a challenge for me.Dirty bird fries were ordered at the middle spicy level. They were a good spice level and good flavor. The rest of the fries were good as well. The collard greens were great. The banana pudding is really good.“
“This location is great for date night, family dinners or have a seat at the bar. This restaurant has a great vibe and plays a mix of music. The menu has vegan options. Our server was great always attentive to our needs. We will return very soon.“
“This place was fantastic!! My party of 4 all loved everything about this place. We ordered the Philly cheesesteak rolls for an app and these were so good. The dipping sauce was definitely the show. We also had the pulled pork sandwich, fries, baked beans and mac and cheese. The baked beans were maybe the best I have ever had. The Mac and cheese was great also. The works were very friendly and personable. I got a peach cobbler to go but I haven’t tried it yet. It sure looks and smells amazing though.“
“The food and service was superb! I was finally able to get the perfect toast, eggs, and hash browns after visiting several establishments. Hannah, my waitress, gave 'the best' service. She seemed to anticipate what I needed. Thank you Hannah.“
“This is a very much home style restaurant. The people here are very much local people. It gives nice cozy vibes. The biscuits are very good. The service is nice. Parking was scarce, and the line was out the door. The main I give it 4 stars instead of 5. My personal opinion this is a great "Memphis " breakfast place. I've tried many breakfast places in the country and this place is on the low half compared to them. But this is definitely a top spot on Memphis. The food is good. This is a good place to see local people and eat a good meal. The biscuits are most definitely one of their prize winners.“
“Delicious food! I never write reviews, but will for this place. Located in an old fast food building. You would never think it was the hidden gem it is!Vegetarian options: Plenty of great choices for vegetarians, vegans and everyone else. I am not a vegetarian, but the friends I was with are vegan and they had plenty of choices. I had the jerk chicken and rice. Falling off the bone and delicious!Parking: Located a couple of minutes South of Graceland in a less dense part of Memphis. Plenty of free parking.“
“I recommend going for evening drinks/dinner. Cocktails are good, service is good, great atmosphere. Dinner food is also good. But I just went for brunch and it was meh. Bloody Mary was good and the breakfast potatoes were DELICIOUS, but I was surprised at the quality of the breakfast sandwich. It was tasty in its own right, but it was just three ingredients on a hamburger bun (not really the “brioche” the server said it was), something I could get wrapped up in foil at a grocery store. For a higher level restaurant, I was expecting something more. Would also love to see more options for egg Benedict than just pork belly; salmon is on the menu so it seems like it would be easy to put that as an egg Benedict option.“
“This is place if you are in the area and looking for great fried chicken. The people were nice, place was clean , not the greatest neighborhood but we went for lunch. The food was great.Kid-friendliness: My daughter loved the biscuits and Mac and cheese“
“Lunch today was excellently prepared and served. The service is top-notch; you're greeted when you enter; there are smiles and pleasantries from the staff; and outstanding assistance. I ordered the Hamburger Steak with Gravy sitting a bed of rice, sweet potatoes, cabbage and cornbread. Everything was well seasoned and generously served. Whenever I'm in the neighborhood, my lunch money will be spent there!!!“
“This is one of my Monday lunch spots that goes in and out of my rotation. It will fade off my radar and then I will remember to get by here and I'll go a couple of times a month for a while. They serve a rotating menu based on the day of the week. I have been on other days, but I like the side choices best on Mondays. My go to is usually Smothered Pork Chops. My sides vary a bit, but I regularly get Northern Beans, Mac & Cheese, and Cream Corn. There seems to be a sweetness to everything I've eaten. Sometimes it can be a bit much and will sometimes spur my hiatus. Everyone is so friendly here. I've never encountered a single employee that wasn't cheerful and efficient. In all honestly, it's better than most places I go, anywhere in Memphis. It's cafeteria style, so you walk down the line and choose what you want. You can tell how fresh it is before you choose and I dig that. Dining room is good. Watch your step, platforms in and out of the booths. Someone will come get your plate and trash. They are always there to make sure you enjoy your food. I'll be back for sure.“
“The restaurant was laid back and not too busy. We could communicate with our waiter about our needs. This burger was delicious! They didn't offer the preference of how the patty was cooked so I think it was well-done. French fries were crispy and additional salt is not needed.“
“Casual dining, the food was tasty. I had the fried green tomatoes as an appetizer, Pan seared catfish, braised greens and Mac and cheese. Nice serving size. You can order drinks that are not listed on the menu. The staff were very friendly.“
“It is a good place to get a unique burger and fries. The challenge seems a bit extreme for me but if you have 4 people that can put it down then give it a whirl. Or you can do the one by yourself. Was good food. Not a fan of the fries a bit too much oil for me.“
“A must visit for your Memphis trip or girl's night. Everything was delicious. Our server was amazing. I had the Shake Baby Shake frozen coffee cocktail- delicious and not too sweet. Make sure to get the Brussel Sprouts appetizer. I was nearing full at the end of the meal but could not say no to the gelato. We had the basil and olive oil and raspberry marshmallows. Bot delicious.“
“We chose a late night dinner, the experience was very pleasant for our 1st time. I brought my man for his birthday dinner and he didn’t even complain about the portions. The drinks were also good. Our server was amazing from his suggestion to his charisma. We enjoyed ourselves.“
“OMG, I would've never thought to stop & eat here, but a friend recommended it. I'm GLAD I tried the food. It was DELICIOUS. The burger was very well seasoned & cooked throughly. My fries were hot, fresh, & seasoned. I didn't get to try the Yo Mama juice, but hopefully soon. I'll definitely be visiting here again SOON.“
“We have now visited twice. This restaurant is really to be one of the best restaurants in the city. From the weight staff to the bartenders to the housemate cocktails, I cannot find one thing to complain about. Everything is an exceptional experience. But the food. It's something else. A well done, upscale menu and dining experience.“
“We had Emily as a server at the Cordova location and not only was the service and the food great but she was friendly and a general joy to have as a server. Always a good experience no matter the location and people like her make it even better.“
“My wife and I were in town and wanting to try some local stops. We ordered catfish, okra, and creamed spinach. It was absolutely fantastic! It was maybe the best catfish I've ever had. The okra was damn near perfect. The staff were very kind and friendly. Do yourself a favor and stop in. We'll be going back.“
“During a recent visit, our son suggested meeting here for breakfast. It was packed and required a short wait, but we really enjoyed the atmosphere. All servers were very helpful and the food, while not fancy, was just how we like it. Coffee isn't great but the biscuits are!“
“Divine Delight: A Heavenly BBQ Bologna SandwichIn a world where culinary experiences often leave one seeking something more, I stumbled upon a revelation at hernado's hideaway diner – the BBQ Bologna Sandwich with Cheese. This humble creation transcends the ordinary, offering a taste that borders on the divine. From the first bite, I was transported to a realm where smoky barbecue flavors mingle with the comforting richness of bologna and the creaminess of cheese. Each element harmonized seamlessly, creating a symphony of flavors that danced on my palate. But what truly sets this sandwich apart is its subtle, yet unmistakable, religious undertone. As I savored each mouthful, I couldn't help but feel a sense of gratitude, as if the hands that crafted this masterpiece were guided by a higher power. It's as if every ingredient was blessed with a touch of celestial magic. The bologna, sliced just right, embodies the essence of redemption – taking a humble meat and elevating it to a celestial status. The cheese, melted to perfection, serves as a reminder of the comforting embrace of faith, enveloping the sandwich in a warm embrace. And let us not forget the barbecue sauce, a divine elixir that imbues the sandwich with a righteous tang, leaving a lingering sense of fulfillment long after the last bite.In a world filled with culinary chaos, the BBQ Bologna Sandwich with Cheese offers a sanctuary of flavor, a testament to the power of simplicity and faith. It's more than just a meal; it's a spiritual experience that nourishes both body and soul.“
“Food was very good. We had the fish n chips. The hottest food to come to the table in a long time! Fish was crispy and tartar sauce had a twang to it. Was delicious!!! Service was right there and so nice and polite, made for a very enjoyable dining experience!!!“
“Every time I come back to Memphis i'm always gonna stop in & have a few whiskeys & have some sliders! (Which are awesome) Danny & James will treat you like you are Norm from Cheers whomever you are. They are tge best! The kool thing is you see all walks of life, coming in here & just enjoying themselves no animosity nothing. That says alot for Memphis long history. Will definitely be back again!“
“It’s an awesome place for a burger ? done fast and delicious ?!!! The price and the service were outstanding. I love the vibes and how cozy the place was.Parking: It’s a city so it’s gets harder to park as the place gets packed. Yet there is a ton of parking.“
“This neighborhood place was a shocking great time! It wasn't fancy nor huge, but the vibe was easy pure soul and rich blues. The band was on fire! First the waitresses were serving hand patted burgers, golden hot catfish, and fries. Next- they'd hit the dance floor! Then, I was dancing too! It's a byob and I didn't even know that. The food was so good, I've been since for a late night hot meal rather than a drive through. I had so much fun that I came back with my party and celebrated my birthday. It was a blast! Big Don, Chloe, and the house band shut it down! With BYOB the price was right and everyone was into it.“
“First time here while visiting the city and I had a great experience in a great environment. Staff were all helpful, friendly and had great attitudes when helping the customers. Guests were enjoying many different sections of the venue and all sections of the property seemed family friendly. This is a very unique gem!“
“Just an okay experience. The atmosphere is great and the location is in a good spot for parking but they also offer valet. The service was okay, he wasn't very friendly and just seemed to be hasty. The escargot was cooked well but really needed more bread and more butter in the murky broth. Maybe this is more authentic prep, but I've had it many times and it wasn't my favorite. The scallops were large but overcooked. My husband said his was just okay. Overall not that impressed and not sure I'd go back.“
“By far and away, the best wine list in Memphis (and probably the entire state save for BlackBerry Farm). The owner selects each bottle personally, curating an elite list of high-end pinot noir (new world and burgundy) and Napa Cabernet that goes far beyond the usual, basic Caymus/Prisoner offerings you get at other peer establishments. It is a bit of a splurge but it’s worth it every time.“
“This is what I'm talking about.Wet Willy, oh, my gotten his young lady poured me well.It came out of a wand she makes me a drink that was off the chain.Good, it was sweet and delicious, fun and good. You must have one of these when walking down the streetKid-friendliness: Kid friendlyWheelchair accessibility: If you have a real chair you would really like this place There's nothing like drinking is sitting in your own Chair“
“I liked the ribs done with charcoal, and it was easy to get a seat on a Saturday night early. We had the cheese and sausage plate, ribs, and the pulled pork. Ribs were good but I'm not sure it needed the extra rub. Pulled pork was great. I loved the beans and the coleslaw. Merch was actually not expensive compared to other places. Everything was tender enough to use plastic forks and knives.“
“This is just one of the restaurants I have been to in Memphis Tennessee that say a lot since I am born and raised here I have only been here twice planning to go back a third and fourth. Food is always delicious the setting is very low-key the surround windows bring in just enough light every time I go I make sure I get the soul roll there so good and I don't even eat Mac& cheese and greens that damn dipping sauce for them all I can say is DAMN!!! On my second visit I tried the chicken bowtie pasta so the best pasta I ever had Jesus had to put his feet in it“
“Delicious meal in an upscale setting (inside). Salmon was prepared terrific with a light glaze and decent portion. The table enjoyed an assortment of appetizers which everyone enjoyed the baked brie as well as the tuna tartar. Solid wine selection and good desserts which the table thought the key lime pie was best. Attentive service. A good place to entertain clients, family or have a romantic dinner.“
“This is a solid spot with a varied menu for the area. In addition to standard pub fare, there are many options, including vegetarian and vegan options. I would definitely stop by here again if I was in Memphis. I wish they had a non-alcoholic drink menu (mocktails) or non-alcoholic beer.“
“Large selection of beers that you will rarely meet in the US.Prices are high but the happy hour from 3:00 to 6:00 pm will allow you to discover the little tresors that this place offers.Regarding the food section: really good and well served. Satisfaction guaranteed! ??“
“Visited 3.15.24 at 4 pm.I had a beer, 6 PC wing, and shrimp steak lamb kabob = $33.Food great! Locally crafted beer was good. Jorge was super attentive, friendly, knowledgeable, and made sure we were taken care of. Menu prices $9 to $17. I will be back. The other young service was friendly too (curly hair maybe a teenager or 20 or so). If I recall correctly he couldn't serve the beer...so a teen.Place clean restroom clean...good job!“
“How is this place not constantly busy??? I've been to this place twice and been blown away both times. First time I had a dry rubbed barbecue chicken, and holy crap, that may have been the best barbecue chicken I've ever had in my entire life. I would bet on it in competition against literally any of the Memphis barbecue joints. Second visit, I got the Memphis Dawg and fries. The house seasoning that they put on their fries is the best I've ever tasted, and the Memphis Dawg combines a perfectly cooked hot dog with cheddar, delicious pulled pork, and amazing barbecue sauce. And all of this is before you get to the Big Dawg himself, Ty, who looks fairly intimidating but is genuinely one of the nicest human beings I've ever met. Definitely coming here again.“
“This was my first time visiting this establishment. I went with my sister, niece, her boyfriend and my best friend. We arrived early because we were informed the show was extremely good and good seating was limited. We ordered wings, fries and mostly everything on the menu. Everything was fresh and delicious. We also ordered drinks throughout the night and they were fantastic. I wish I could remember all of the food and drinks we ordered; however the drinks were so good I forgot ?????…The show was amazing with exceptional performances. Everyone in my party ? truly enjoyed ourselves and we all stated we will definitely be back. We had such an incredible time that our final bill came out to around $550 and it was worth every dollar we spent….Parking: It’s located downtown near the FedEx basketball ? stadium.“
“This is an amazing hidden gem in downtown Memphis. The food is amazing and Chef Cole is a wonderful and kind being. I will definitely return to try more of the amazing food that is being prepared here!!Vegetarian options: The veggie wrap is amazing!!“
“A FABULOUS VENUE FOR A SPECIAL EVENTFlight recently opened a new venue less than a block from their original restaurant and my family was fortunate enough to be the first to book an event. It has everything you'd want. Historic building with tall walls painted in a neutral color. A huge mirror that reflects into the dining room. Massive curved bar. As a delightful bonus, it has an equally large courtyard illuminated by strung lights. The fountain is a beautiful addition and helps mask the street noise. The brick planters are painted white and filled with flowers/trees. All of this you will see if you take a tour. What you won't see: A coordinator that bends over backward to make sure the venue lives up to your expectations. (March Gates Palazzolo) She not only held my hand during the planning phase, she bustled around during the event to make sure everything ran smoothly. The staff. I can't say enough good things about them. So professional and friendly! Accommodating to my guests. The service was excellent! I had a little concern about whether the food would be ok since the kitchen is new to the chef. Our meals (over 50 guests) came out on time and were simply delicious. Our guests were super impressed! The chef had introduced himself prior to our event and his desire to do a great job appeared authentic. I'm grateful for such a beautiful and memorable experience and can't say enough about how impressed I was.“
