“I had the 3 piece white plate with double potatoe salad, 2 jalapeño peppers and a slice of pecan pie. My daughter had 3 tender plate with greens and rice, a jalapeño and a slice if pecan pie. We both also had Arnold Palmers. Everything was deliciousParking: You get in where you fit in on the street“
“Always an excellent meal or apps and a drink. It is nice that they have valet parking. I can go get a meal or drinks and small plates before the Grizzlies gam and go right out get in my car and park in Fedx Forum. Much better and easier pre game snack or dinner than places within walking distance of the game.“
“where do I start? ?the service is chefs kiss ?- I’ve always had amazing servers who try to make our experience special.✨I could write a love song aboutthe wedge salad. I get it every time.✨I dream about the thunderbird pizza. (also, all the pizzas can come gluten free! big win) It’s slightly spicy and sweet.✨I wish I could swim in the espresso martini.. I think it's the best one in Memphis. they have a revolving drink menu and I've never tried one I didn't like.my only complaint is it's a little loud in the center of the room so it's hard to hear if you're sitting at a large table.Dietary restrictions: Gluten free“
“Stopped for lunch with family. Was treated to a revival of my belief in the food perfection of the city cornery diner. Next time I am in Memphis, I will definitely be coming back here for all that is good and holy and tasty.Fried chicken tender platter was moist, perfectly fried, and generously portioned. BBQ ribs were a religious experience: perfectly smoked, fall off the bone, with just the right amount of sauce. Catfish was mild and perfectly dusted in cornmeal and spice. I could live off the gumbo for at least a week if necessary. Service could have been better, but admittedly we came in during a brief rush and in any event the quality of the food was well worth the wait.“
“The food, service, and experience of eating at this restaurant made me eat there twice. The restaurant and employees went above my expectations to make me feel special. This restaurant is a great place to visit and dine in and I recommend it upon your visit to Memphis. I can’t wait to return to Memphis to try a new dish from the menu. The catfish, mac and cheese, hush puppies, and greens almost took me out, lol very delicious and the dessert was simply to die for.“
“Usually I get take out from the c/y location but decided to see if parking is any better here (very slightly).Food here is just as great as the midtown one. They have great food, one of the only places in town that doesn't make their corn bread overly sweet. They also understand how to make a simple straight forward burger that isn't a heckin meatball or covered in increasingly pretentious condiments and toppings. If it s made right, burgers don't need all that none sense and sould fish, despite being a fish place, has one of the best simple classic burger and fries plate for a reasonable price. This same simple but well prepared, very fresh ingredients and nice serving sizes go into the salads. They offer one of the nicer Ceasar salads in the city. This is once again a simple dish but they don't mess it up by disrupting the simplicity. Instead they elevate the most basic of salads with very fresh romaine, in the perfect size pieces for a salad, and lots of cheese and croutons which are also very nice croutons. The Ceasar is dressing is not remarkable. It is EXACTLY what I expect when I order Ceasar dressing. Soul fish isn't trying to re invent the wheel and that a a good thing because as high quality as their food is they aren't great at parking lots.Parking: There's plenty of parking in the back but the spaces are tight and tiny and it is a very long walk between the lot and building. One way in, another way out, and it s narrow. It s like the midtown one so maybe they just love bad parking and pedestrian design.“
“This was one of the best restaurant experiences I have ever had, I'm was in Memphis visiting for a conference and found this place close to the Hotel, best hospitality from the owner, and on top of that the tastiest food you have had in your life, if I come back to Memphis I will be coming here daily.“
“During a recent visit, our son suggested meeting here for breakfast. It was packed and required a short wait, but we really enjoyed the atmosphere. All servers were very helpful and the food, while not fancy, was just how we like it. Coffee isn't great but the biscuits are!“
“The name insinuates that it's a family environment, sit in type of restaurant. Actually, it's more of a run in and run out style restaurant. The owner of the old Cheesecake corner has opened this quaint little place in honor of his mom. I can only rate the desserts (not the food). That's why I rated it a 4. The blueberry cheesecake is quite tasty. It's not made with Philadelphia cream cheese. It has more texture but it's fabulous! Warm the brownie for 15 secs and is every bit of dilectable in every bite! For people taking a walk in the neighborhood, it's a spot to stop in and pick up a quick throat guzzling beer or water. I'm not a chicken and waffle kinda girl but I suggest you stop by and try it.“
“The spot was on point! We sat at the bar on a Sunday. The bar tender KD was amazing! She makes really good drinks! The entire staff were very friendly and attentive! The Crab Cake Benedict was delicious! Cooked to perfection! It's my new favorite entree! My husband ordered the salmon Benedict! He loved his meals too! He said that's one of our spots!“
“They still have it going on here at Gus's on Mendenhall! As I entered, I was promptly greeted by the staff and seated immediately. Once seated, my server Ariel, brought my beverage quickly and took my order. She also notified me about the special they had going on, which I thought was nice if I wanted to get the biggest bang for my buck. The food was excellent as usual and came out quickly. During my dining experience, Ariel checked on me multiple times and offered desert once I was done. I swear this lady has to get about 100k steps a day because she had multiple tables and I watched her take care of all of them. Gus is lucky I live in Atlanta, or I would be trying to steal their employee for my establishment.“
“By far and away, the best wine list in Memphis (and probably the entire state save for BlackBerry Farm). The owner selects each bottle personally, curating an elite list of high-end pinot noir (new world and burgundy) and Napa Cabernet that goes far beyond the usual, basic Caymus/Prisoner offerings you get at other peer establishments. It is a bit of a splurge but it’s worth it every time.“
“My husband had a cup of gumbo to start with. It was thick and tasty. The shrimp and catfish po’boys are very good. The poboy sandwiches come with fries and hushpuppies. Unfortunately, the hushpuppies don’t have much taste. Although the catfish was well prepared, it was awkward to eat and not evenly distributed across the sandwich. The prices seemed a little high, but this is Memphis.“
“We tried the Pesto Alfredo with Shrimp (needed extra sauce), Lasagna, and the Half and Half (Ravioli and spaghetti). Everything was huge portions and tasted delicious. Warning: this is old fashioned Italian meat sauce that some refer to as a gravy, not your standard American spaghetti sauce.“
“Dive-bar vibes with a really good (if slightly overcooked) burgers. We had a big group and so can't really comment on normal food times. But, nice beer selection and anything with the bacon jam was great! Sourdough bun was fantastic, fries were just okay.“
“I was a first timer and I'm always excited about supporting a black owned business and I told the cashier that but she wasn't friendly or talkative at all, the food was expensive (but what's not these days) but IT WAS SOOO GOOD! I will try once more and hopefully the owner reads this and will speak with cashier about her unfriendly, unconcerned customer service.“
“What a treat! This is food that is prepared with love and caring. I only had vegetables and yet they were amazing. Cooked nicely — yams were soft and sweet, green beans were soft without being mushy, mac and cheese creamy and perfection, in other words it was everything expected!Oh — and cornbread worthy of a southern cook!Looks like they have different choices daily. Look forward to returning and trying some chicken.“
“Wow! A hidden gem in Memphis! Amazing Food and Great Customer Service. The owner is a Professional and Excellent cook. The Fish Sandwich was the best I ever had in my life! The steak fries were huge and well seasoned. This place is a must stop in Memphis especially if you're headed to the Casinos from the city.“
“My 1st time eating here and it did not disappoint I ordered the Large combination rice, which was seasoned and flavored to perfection the meat was grilled and tender. The buffalo egg rolls . They didn’t make it out the parking lot?. I ate those in the car. This is a must have.Parking: Plenty of parking on their private lot.“
“They had a pretty long wait the night we went - but it was well worth the wait. This was the best BBQ I have ever had.KC and Texas BBQ joints could only dream of being this good. Every aspect of the meal was good and it was so filling - I keep wishing I was back there to eat more.“
“Great experience at Woman’s Exchange of Memphis! Wonderful food in the Tea room and a nice gift shop combine to make this an excellent nonprofit that is here to empower women!Rev. Bailey is quite the chef, serving up flavorful and balanced southern cuisine in a relaxed and calm environment. Would recommend supporting this establishment!“
“Love this place! Good ol southern cooked foods!! Love going and getting a vegetable plate. With the occasional meats! The only issue i have is .. Not enough cornbread when I get the vegetable plates (i always get the cabbage &/or greens with the juices) i run outta cornbread before i run outta veggies! Lol“
“Every time we go to Memphis, we stop here. Their food and service are excellent. One of us always gets the catfish and I choose either fried shrimp or the cuban. You wouldn't expect that the cuban would be a good choice at a restaurant that highlights seafood, but you'd be wrong. It consistently is the best one I've had regardless of the restaurant. Service is great. Refills come unsolicited, which is refreshing.“
“We selected the tacos and a chicken nugget meals. The tacos were great. Far better than anything at Taco Bell , more like what you would get at Swanky’s or a more upscale place. The nuggets were better than what you’d get at the McD or Chic fil A. Very enjoyable. I’d come back.Kid-friendliness: Kids will find smaller portion items.“
“My family and I had such a great time on Saturday for brunch! We appreciate the hospitality and service. Everything was amazing. Low low (our server) was very attentive and had immaculate customer service. Lernard(owner) was very personable in regards to our experience as well. The ambiance was the bomb!!!! Thank you again for accommodating our large party to celebrate my younger cousin’s 18th birthday!!! We will be back. Please support!“
“If you're craving a mix of Chinese cuisine and comforting home-cooked soul food, this spot is perfect for you. They offer a variety of dishes including pig feet, chitlins, fried rice, orange chicken, and more. I always try to go before the Rush Hour.“
“I love they candy yams & dressing, but they only serve dressing on fridaysVegetarian options: They have all veggie plates with no meat what so everKid-friendliness: They have kid portions to all the food on the menuParking: The parking lot is pretty spaciousWheelchair accessibility: Yes its wheelchair accessableDietary restrictions: They have grilled foods & healty veggies of thats your thing“
“Excellent service ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️I ordered the catfish and grits, it was my first time trying fish and grits and it was really good. My only critique would be how the fish and grits were plated, once i made it home, a great amount of my grits were in the bag but other than that everything was good. I will definitely be going back to try the jerk chicken and rice.“
“My husband and I aren't fans of buffets under normal circumstances but we were given free breakfast by the hotel so we figured, why not? We came down for Saturday breakfast buffet and scored a very nice booth right across from the buffet area. Our friendly waitress immediately brought coffee and juice and checked on us throughout the meal and removed the plates, etc. She was a sweetheart. She even brought me a mug to include in my instagram pic that said "Guest House at Graceland" while I was taking pics of my guitar waffles, lol. The choices are great - they had eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, biscuits, gravy all warm in the warming station. They also had a waffle bar and omelette bar you could order made fresh for you. My husband had a HUGE omelette and enjoyed it. The waffle was good and had a guitar in the center. They had a side bar with fresh fruits, yogurt, parfait and cereal and milk. The food was very good, warm, fresh and constantly being refilled. Inside seating is nice, tabletop was nice, and the decor is nice. It was very clean. We actually really enjoyed the meal and commented it was way above expectations.“
“I just love Chicken Salad Chick with all the selections, friendly service, and great atmosphere. I introduced CSC to my husband and he was so impressed that he got an extra scoop to go. I got the Jalapeño Holly and grape salad. It was such a fantastic combo. Big portions and full of flavor.“
“I had dinner at Memphis Soul tonight and it was pure pleasure. The owner was personable and kind, the food was fresh, savory, and delicious! I've been in Memphis for a conference for a week and my dinner here was the best food and service I had! The restaurant is colorful and filled with charm. Go if you have the chance, you will enjoy it immensely.“
“I wasnt playing around with lunch today. I went hard. ?????. BBQ pork chop, smoked neck bone, cabbage, cornbread and mash potatoes. I'm about to go into a coma frfr. #SoulFoodThe service was amazing and the owner made me feel like family. I fully intend on putting on some LB's considering how close it is to my house. Everything was and/or looked delicious.“
“Delicious southern food! We tried the Sunday’s specials and everything was so tasty and filling. Our server was friendly and attentive. The parking lot had security on-site which I appreciated. Good place all around!Parking: Security presence in parking lot“
“I've visited several time but my most recent visit was worth bragging about and reviewing. I don't know who was in that kitchen but they know what they are doing! Everything on my plate was delicious! I had fried pork chops that were perfectly fried and not dry, yams that were sweet and the perfect texture, and cabbage that melted in my mouth with perfect seasoning.Y'all they are certainly heavenly.“
“We had a large group and were seated instantly. For appetizers we had the fried stuffed avocados which were really good. But the Cajun shrimp and beer bread was the highlight of this meal. The bread was grilled and just so delicious especially dipped in the juice the shrimp was sitting in. That app was 5+ stars. My entree was not so appealing. I ordered shrimp and grits the grits were flavorful, the shrimp was flavorful but there was so much grease/oil that rendered the meal unenjoyable. The atmosphere is great. There is live music, great design and the staff was incredible.“
