“This is an absolute gem of a place that we found on Eater and booked, mostly because the piece mentioned that they were 'not pretentious' and source ingredients from their local, urban farm. We ate there on a Sunday, early evening, to the backdrop of tango dancing and cool art. The cocktails were innovative and beautifully balanced and we knew that everything on the small, seasonal southern menu would be a great choice. We had a chance to chat with the unassuming owner, Billy, who shared his story and passion for hospitality and sustainable farming and his partner, Candace, who was was the embodiment of the vibe. “Houston Location: We arrived at our reservation and waited 10 minutes for the hostess. Once seated, we were uninstructed on how to order. Sushi chefs explained the process. Our waiter arrived 10 minutes after, taking our drink order. The app arrived before the waters, followed by the drinks after we ordered and received the sushi. The manager noticed us looking for our waiter but was often in the corner on his phone or socializing with the hostess. The sushi chefs were also on their phones while making the sushi, which was unhealthy. Despite the germy seasoning, the food was amazing.“

“I was not expecting a spot like this in my neighborhood & its not a bad spot. I seen a spot similar that used to exist on Airline in which this spot has various local beers that one cannot find in many of the local sports bars & maybe on a rare occasion you can find a brand of local brews that is over at the upscale restaurants. From what I seen in their drink menu especially for the beers, there is variety not just in tastes but also where they come from not just in Houston, but other locations outside of Houston & even local brews that are not here in Texas

I went there once when they had a Steak night which occurs on a Thursday but also despite being not the biggest spot it can get packed but still good enough to move around, & if one plans to get food. Its mostly set up on the outside since the area does not have enough space for a kitchen

Also it helps the location has good enough parking to find though it can get packed so my best advice. Get there early to enjoy Cobble & Spoke plus this spot does not just have beers, if your into wine or other drinks outside of beer. Its a go to“

“We had a beautiful wedding at AvantGarden. My partner and I were looking for aesthetically pleasing and queer friendly wedding venues. When we emailed AvantGarden to see if they are comfortable with LGBT weddings, Mariana swiftly replied, “At AvantGarden, love is love.” We went to tour the venue because it was beautiful online and we could not have been more pleasantly surprised by the fact that they do all inclusive weddings! The florals, cake, food, and DJ were all excellent. Pizza, cocktail hour charcuterie and the taco truck were all big hits with our guests. We’re very thankful to Mariana and her team!“

“This whole facility is card only. I happened to be paying with a PayPal card as opposed to a regular bank card and there were issues with the pre-authorization hold when I tried to open a tab.

EVERY staff member I interacted with to resolve the problem was extremely courteous and helpful. Pablo was particularly friendly and understanding. If you're in downtown definitely swing by. Also extremely good happy hour M-F. Don't know where else in downtown that you can get a 3 dollar beer...
