“My son had been there and I really liked their Barbacoa! Went to my usual place on north 77 for barbacoa and couldn't believe the line all the way to the street and knowing that once I make it in they're going to tell me they're out like before so I called Capistran on F street and was told they had plenty so I went over there and was able to get in without the hassle of waiting and like I said before their barbacoa is excellent and well drained. It's nice to know I have this choice now. I'll be going there and getting my tortillas and barbacoa now. Thanks Capistran!“

“Great Border Town BBQ with One Minor Letdown

This was a highly satisfying visit! During a quick stop in this sleepy, historic border town, I knew I had to get some authentic Texas BBQ, and SMOKE absolutely delivered on that promise.I initially wanted to try the beef ribs, but even though it was only around 3:00 PM when I visited, they were already sold out. Instead, I opted for the moist brisket. Since it was late afternoon, there was no line, so ordering and receiving my food was a breeze.

The brisket was exactly as advertised: moist, perfectly marbled with fat, and incredibly tender. I thoroughly enjoyed every bite of that half-pound. I was in a rush to catch a flight and had to eat much faster than I wanted to, but it was still a fantastic meal. Hopefully, I can return in the future to taste those ribs.

The only element that fell short of expectations was the hot sauce selection. When I asked for hot sauce, I was given a handful of packaged Tabasco packets. I could only stomach one packet and ended up returning the rest. For such a highly regarded BBQ institution, this was a major letdown. A place of this caliber should really be crafting its own signature house hot sauce, or at the very least, offering a higher-quality commercial option.“

“My wife and I ate a sliced and a chopped beef sandwich for lunch today Beef was good BUT both our buns were burnt BLACK top and bottom. I told our waitress we didn’t ask for “well done”! She smiled and left. They were awful. WILL NEVER EAT THERE AGAIN. What a pity !“

“Happen to see this restaurant while looking for a place to eat with my family. Decided to stop and eat here. Eating at a lot of cafes I just usually expect it to look and be similar on the inside. If you know then you know. This place was definitely not that. Walking in I instantly noticed how clean and how it was decorated. It was a nice modern feel. We was instantly greeted and had a friendly conversation struck up. The owners was super awesome taking good care of the service at our table and being very friendly. We all had Breakfast food and it was great! If you’re looking for a place to eat please give this place a try. Hopefully you will enjoy your visit as much as we did!“

“I really like the food here. The chicken fried steak is better than all the other nearby places. Their parmesian chicken is also really good. The staff is always really good as well. Almost forgot, the chocolate stampede is a great dessert too.“

“I highly recommend this place to eat. The brisket is so flavorful and fresh. We order the botana for 2, it could feed 3-4. We had nothing to take in a to go box! The drinks are also good and they have AWESOME sweet tea. I wish I found this place sooner.“
