For context, our beautiful Thor passed in January of this year and the grieving process has been tough. There has been good days and some challenging days.. you name it. Today (8/24/26) is Thor's birthday and it's been a rollercoaster of emotions all day today. We have Thor's brother (Loki) still here with us so I wanted to still celebrate Thor.

I had someone lined up to bake Thor's memorial cake and she cancelled 2 weeks ago. I found someone else, and she cancelled at the last minute yesterday. I honestly felt defeated. I messaged numerous people and nothing. I found this bakery on a fb page that I follow; I sent a message and immediately got a response. Google had said that the bakery doesn't open until Tuesday, so I was fully expecting a response of heartbreak but instead, they extended their hand and said I could come in on Monday (today).

I went to an appointment this morning and it took longer than I anticipated. My heart dropped because I felt like I was going to miss the arrival timeframe that I initially planned. I sent them a message and they still welcomed me. I finally arrived to the bakery and felt so welcomed. I saw the dog cakes and my tears poured down like no other. The owner and staff were amazing. They gave me the space I needed to breathe and helped me pick a memorial cake for my boy.

Thank you... thank you from the bottom of my heart. You have no idea how much this meant to me. Something so small to others, meant the world to me today. I cried on the way there and I cried on the way back home. You truly are a blessing and I know I will be back soon. My Loki's birthday is coming up in a couple months... this will be my regular go-to. Thank you. God Bless you and your family!

“Living in the Panhandle of Texas, finding a good TexCzech kolache is next to impossible. I don't mean klobasniky (sausage roll), they are everywhere. If you find yourself in San Antonio, however, may I recommend to you the Kolache Stop, east of I-10 on Huebner. Great selection of delicious–and authentic–kolaches in a welcoming and comfortable establishment. We were greeted kindly and given not only what we came in wanting, but also some excellent suggestions that we were glad to take. Kolache Stop makes kolaches with standard poppy seed, cream cheese, and fruit fillings (my favorite is the apricot!) as well as fruit and cream cheese and (my wife's favorite) nutella and cream cheese. Every variety we tried was delicious. In addition, they make breakfast and dinner kolaches that are worth your trip in. The egg, bacon, and cheese I had was well seasoned and fit the bill for a quick breakfast before we hit the road back to the West Texas plains. And, if you want klobasniky, they've got them, too. 😄 Bottom line, head to the kolache stop and get your kolache cravings filled.“

“I have been going to Daily bread lately and I was just there yesterday. I must say the food was extremely fresh. The managers and employees are pleasant, nice and forever greeting with a beautiful smile. The Turkey Italian Sandwich on Honey wheat is so healthy and freshly prepared by gentlemen who are clean and precised. The Oatmeal chocolate chip cookies and muffins are deliciously fresh. If you want fresh "healthy"eating & Non Covid crowded atmosphere then I suggests Broadway Daily Bread. “Bakery goods are fantastic. For handicap (cane, wheelchair, and similar) it is a problem getting to the bakery. To get to the bakery entrance you will have to use the stairs, so if you are handicapped you will need to go around the corner of the building to use the flat surface in front of the Royal Pizza and Brunch restaurant. However, there is a problem - the restaurant’s outdoor dining chairs are in the way. So if you are in a wheelchair the metal chairs are hard to drag on the concrete sidewalk. I experienced moving the chairs a few days ago - they were a little heavy when I tried to move a few of them on my own with my arm extended out, unbalanced, and using my shoulder to push. Additionally, there is no handicap parking in front of the restaurant so you will have to maneuver between cars and side mirrors to get through. You will also need help to get into the bakery and for someone to hold the door on my way out. For this reason, I will not be coming back to the bakery.“

“We ran into Blanca’s Cake and Catering about 2 years ago at a quince expo. Ever since then my daughter has been raving about them, and this was just from a tasting. Then we hired them to do the cake and repostería at my daughters quince. Everything was perfect from the frosting to the cake to the cookies. I explained how we do not like frosting that is too sweet and a little bit whipped and boy did they come through.
