“We live in Hollywood Park and Purple Garlic is right in our neighborhood. This is such a wonderful restaurant! The staff is so friendly and fun! It’s literally almost like Cheers “where everyone knows your name” even if you haven’t been there in a while! The food is excellent, always served fresh, extremely delicious and hot out of the oven. They have a nice wine list, but you can also bring your own vino. We’ve always had great dining experiences at Purple Garlic and that’s why it’s been so popular for all these years!“

“(05/30/25) Eight of us met for dinner at the Pazzo Pastaria and were immediately greeted and seated by the very pleasant co-owner, Ginny. The ambiance is simple, cozy and (thank you), not noisy. The wait staff is excellent (shout out to Katie!); the menu is well organized and offers several out-of-the-ordinary Italian dishes. Don't fill up on the tasty breads and olive oil dip, because the food is delicious and the portions are generous. For a weekend meal, consider making reservations because the restaurant fills quickly. We were pleased with our dinner selections and no one left hungry! The overall experience was so good, we agreed the Pazzo Pastaria would be our new favorite restaurant. PS. “This is one of our favorite places to go. We were there this past weekend for our anniversary and the food did not disappoint! My wife had the Scaloppini Di Vitello while I had the Eggplant Parmesan. Both of our selections were very delicious! Great atmosphere and the service was great! Definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a place to go for date night and great dining. We will be coming back!“

“Today we had an extraordinary experience thank to our server Gregory we mentioned to him that we were excited and celebrating life because our 4 year old went for her yearly MRI scans and came out NED. He went out of his way to put his team together to sing to our precious warrior with a delicious cake and candle, now she is 3 years NED. “Excellent food. You can't go wrong with shrimp paisano. We arrived a little before 3pm, so we were given the lunch menu. My husband wanted a steak which is on the dinner menu. Waitress said the grill isn't fired up until 4pm. So we waited until 4pm to order his steak. Other than that little quirk, everything else tasted great“

“I picked up to go salads and don’t understand why there is so much salad in a single serving container, compared to the tiny dressing cup they give you. Just makes sense to have less salad or give 2 dressing cups so we don’t have to ask for more or when we get home, realize there isn’t enough dressing. For the salad to be about $9 and to have 90% iceberg lettuce and hard white crunchy parts is frustrating. Also wish OG along with so many other restaurants would use recyclable containers. None of these of which are at the fault of the employees, just OG business practices. Staff were friendly when I went in to place the order. Don’t have much else to go on for the review so leaving 4 stars.“

“This place is absolutely amazing. We went here for our cousins 15th birthday. He came in from out of town and requested the best Shrimp fettuccini Alfredo and after weeks of research we found this place. From the moment we placed our first call until we actually went to the establishment and left, everything was beyond perfect. The service was amazing and the food was the best Italian food we've had in San Antonio (I've lived here for 15+years). “Every time we attend the annual TMEA convention, we make sure to make a stop at Luciano's during Saturday lunch before the concerts begin. This year we missed it as they were doing their remodeling. In previous years, we have enjoyed their calamari appetizer, the dipping bread, the margarita pizza & their specials. With them, you can never go wrong with their Limone dishes - whether it was their Fish or Fowl Items. The pasta , the veal & the steak dishes were yummy.“

“We ordered family style takeout and wasn't impressed. Almost $200 worth with no parm, utensils or mints. Yes, I asked for utensils and cheese. The bigger problem was the Baked Ziti had very little sauce. I should've taken a picture, but I had to whip up sauce. There might have been an 1/8 of an inch of sauce on top. Not even tomato juice in the bottom of the pan. Not great for a birthday party.“

“When we travel we like to try restaurants that aren’t the same as everywhere else you go. Tonight we found a wonderful gem. We walked in and were greeted by Claudio like we were family. The warm welcoming feeling was perfect. The decor is exactly what comes to mind when I think of an Italian restaurant. The aroma made me instantly hungry. Claudio was very accommodating and offered great suggestions (he was spot on) when I said I couldn’t choose between spaghetti and meatballs or ravioli with meat or cheese. He recommended ravioli’s and added a meatball on top so I could try that as well. They brought us warm fresh baked bread and a lovely salad. Dewayne loved his lasagna and I loved my ravioli and the added meatball. All portions were more than generously sized. If you are ever in the area, we highly recommend stopping by and trying this restaurant out. You won’t regret it!!!“

The host has a little attitude because it was jus me an she wanted me to sit at the bar (which is not why I came to eat) she rolled her eyes then took me to a table but that was the only bad part of the visit“

“Initially I went to grimaldis and waited for 20 minutes with no service. Mind you I only have 45 minutes for lunch. I walked over, was greeted immediately, given a table, ordered, had hot fresh baked bread come out to my table, my order followed about 5 minutes after! “I pass this place every time I come to the mall because I like to park in the back because it's a shorter walk to one store I love. So today was the day I stopped by and grabbed some chicken fettuccine Alfredo it looked so good I didn't pass it up this time. I decided to get the large so it would last several meals for me because it's a huge serving. It came with a piece of bread I am unsure of what kind but ally food is super tasty, fresh, and very delicious. The portion showing in my own plate is maybe 1/3 of the serving I got. The service was super great Able helped me today and answered every question I had. He was kind and super helpful I truly appreciated the great customer service. Overall a 5 star from me will definitely eat here again.“

“I made reservations because they were participating in the Culinaria event. We support those restaurants that participate in the Culinaria events. I appreciate their contributions to those in SA who don’t have enough food on their tables.
The Culinaria menu was enticing. For the first course, I chose the tuna tartare. It was delicious with fried capers and an artichoke aioli. I asked to have the chives eliminated and they were very accommodating. It was served with an artichoke aioli. Although very good, I would have liked a more pronounced artichoke flavor. I asked for a glass of prosecco and it was delicious!
My husband ordered the arancini which was served with lobster 🦞 risotto. He asked for a glass of Sauvignon Blanc and liked it. He truly enjoyed it. The first course offered a soup but I didn’t ask what it was.
We both ordered the braised lamb shank on a bed of mashed potatoes, which I found a little bland; however, the slice of onion, served along side, was fabulous! They are braised and cooked down with balsamic and probably a red wine vinegar or a vinegar of some sort, perhaps a sherry or champagne vinegar or a milder vinegar.
We decided to share a wonderful salted caramel gelato at the table and bring the tiramisu home.
One of the best Culinaria meals and for only $35 per person!

She went out her way to ensure we are very satisfied with the food and service. I wish I got her name. You don’t get that type of service anymore especially with chain restaurants like this. “On a road trip, my daughter and I saw the pizza photos on Maps and had to try. So we drove 20 minutes out of the way for pizza and it was worth it. The crust was crispy, perfectly cooked, good sauce and right amount of cheese. She got the chicken pesto pizza and I got the meat lovers. It's more expensive, but we stop at random places all the time and Sapores Pizza is worth it.“

“3.14, and it was super busy. The employees seemed very overwhelmed with all the orders. There was a line out the door just for people waiting to pick up orders. I ordered online and came for pick up when I was notified it was ready. I still had to wait 40 minutes. I could see my order number sitting on the counter the whole time. When I was finally able to make it in to pick up my order, my small caprese wasn't there. One employee asked another employee to make it. She walked in the back and came out to look up at the menu as if she was trying to figure out how to make it. She walked around some more and never really did any work. Another employee who seemed to be cooking asked what I was waiting for, and he went in the back to make it. He was very apologetic. It seemed like no one was in charge, and they couldn't keep up. I myself work in a very busy kitchen, I do understand. A thought would be for one employee to start calling out the order numbers as they are stacking up on the counter. When someone steps up to claim said items, then verify who they are with that order. Instead, customers had to wait in long lines as their food just sat there. The guest behind me had ordered a 16" and a 10" but received 2, 10". He had waited so long he didn't want a refund he just took the 2 he was given. Great pizza but very unorganized for such a busy day. Whoever was in charge at the O'Connor location should have called Matt or Enga and let them know they were overwhelmed.“

“One of my favorite restaurants, although it is a fairly expensive place for most of the dishes they offer, but the portion they offer is quite good for its price and there are accessories that you can order more than once and they always bring you the same amount and the flavor in most of the dishes that I have consumed is quite good, the flavor is very good so I highly recommend it and if you go on your birthday they give you the dessert that you like the most.

Vegetarian options: The salad is one of the best I've ever had.

Parking: Both in size, location quite good compared to other places

Kid-friendliness: I like that it is a quite family atmosphere, nice and quiet.“

“Starting eating from Mattenga's recently and it's been a great experience. The pizza is consistently fresh and the ingredients taste of high quality. I pick up pizza from Mattenga's weekly and have never been disappointed. Mike, at the Callaghan Rd. location, is a pleasure to deal with. It's rare to find someone who genuinely cares about the quality of the food they serve while always providing great service. This extra attention truly shows through in the food. Will be coming back for more!“
