“Time of day can be very important when you make your reservation. Restaurant opens at 9, so if you're able to get that reserved then you'll get your pick of any table (chef's kiss). The food and drinks were both top tier. I was here for a breakfast date and she ordered the chef's benedict. Too often the egg yolk isn't poached properly and it gets overcooked. “Found this little gem from a simple Google search and I’m already addicted! My friend and I enjoyed breakfast there and we’re already planning a return trip. “A favorite of mine since I lived in the avenues 15 years ago, this coffeeshop has the best community feeling, the most lively energy, and most laidback vibe. Lots of seating for a small space, and more comfortable than most. I love to write here, and this is one of those places where I mysteriously do my best work. Even though it's not quiet, the ambient noise is perfect.

My favorite drink is dairy-free dirty chai Cubano-style. The flavors of chai, espresso, brown sugar, and cinnamon are like angels serenading my taste buds. I love the artwork, and how the community board is right up front.

The only negative is that it's kind of impersonal to order on a tablet. I don't mind, since ordering food or drink gives me low-grade social anxiety, but I know customers who feel a lack of connection. The ordering system has the potential to cause confusion, like when I bring a personal cup, they don't use it. That is my one critique.“

“I recently discovered Picnic Cafe and have visited 3 times since discovery. They may not be known for their everything bagels but they are very good for SLC. Each time, I have ordered an iced strawberry matcha and my partner usually drinks an iced latte. The iced latte's are good and reliable. The iced raspberry matcha is on the sweeter side, in my opinion. The sweetness is not overwhelming but is notable compared to my other go-to matcha spot.

They have a quaint inside seating area with spots to get work done. If you're there to chat, their outdoor patio is where I'd choose to sit. Parking throughout the neighborhood around, there are not assigned spots available.

My one complaint is that they open at 8 am. I would love to occasionally stop by on my way to work but that is far to late. I haven't been to any other coffee shops in SLC that aren't open until 8.“

“Sugar Space is so great! It was 1.5 miles from the Koa where I was staying and I wasn’t sure if it was worth the walk, it’s got a great little coffee shop/ cafe, the food and drinks are nice, Edgar the barista is sooooo sweet and accommodating and the owners are really great. They have good speed internet to get some work done and even a play area for kids. The owners were so kind and welcoming! It was the best part of my visit to Salt Lake!“

“I live in Colorado and never heard of Alpha Coffee. I visited Salt Lake City, and friend recommended we meet at the downtown location. I ordered an "Aztec" and it was great. Something different, new and tasty for me. I liked the drink, the vibe and the servers ... the whole experience was great! I look forward to my next visit to SLC. I'll stop at Alpha again - to try the Poly! :)“

“10/10 experience. Very inviting and cozy atmosphere as soon as you walk in. Clean as a whistle too! Aside from the cat decorations in the cafe area you’d never guess they have animals in the building from the smell or the hair level. Lightning fast service and very yummy consumables if you’re just there for a drink and a snack. The staff I met were very patient and helpful. The cats are very well cared for and it shows in their friendliness and grooming. I adopted a Maine Coon with my husband this weekend and not only was the process smooth, but the cat himself was very healthy and had a well maintained coat(for the uninitiated Maine Coons are very susceptible to matting of the fur around their butt and tummy). Overall incredible experience and so so well run especially for a small business. I will be stopping by to pet the cats and get a latte every time i’m in Salt Lake. -Joel :]“

“I absolutely love Cafe Shambala and highly recommend stopping by! Every time we host family or guests visiting, we bring them to eat here. Both the lunch buffet and the dinner menu are delicious. Our favorites are the spiced potatoes, the marinated chicken, the momos, and the traditional rice pudding dessert. My husband and I have never had less than a 5-star experience, especially with the excellent service. My only suggestion for improvement would be to more clearly post a drink menu during lunch, specifically for the refreshing mango lassi and other tasty drinks available.
