“We were worried getting out of a late meeting and we didn’t think we would be able to find a really good meal with it being after 9pm. We were wrong! We followed our GPS to this restaurant and the place was so welcoming. They let us sample before we decided on our meals and everything we tried was delicious and most importantly FRESH! To get a meal THIS good at this time of night blew us away! We will be coming back and will be using their catering option as well for a summer birthday party! Please try and return for another ! Visit the Annnandale location! And once you’re done with the delicious dinner, please save room for the crepes they have here!“

“A home-y “hole in the wall” place with good food and sweets. Don’t let this place’s looks throw you off. The AYCE/buffet is $13.99 and you serve yourself then pay after. The honesty system is strong! During our meal, the workers let us try different sauces and explained the options.

I don’t know the names very well but I had: rice with chickpeas, the “stewed” chicken, tandoori chicken, chickpeas, and eggplant. The eggplant and stewed chicken were my favorite! The meats are all SOOOO tender. We also ordered the Naan and it was the freshest we’ve had!

We ended with dessert from the buffet. It was Gulab and soooo good! It was sweet and perfect to end the meal.

Afterwards, one of the workers was so kind as to explain what each dessert was and the flavors. He let us try one of them for free. And then when I ended up picking 2 other desserts, he gifted them because we were new to the place!!!

“Approaching the place, it is super bright, which helps finding it as the restaurant is set back from the buildings around it. This also gave us a sense of safety walking in.
There was someone at the counter ready to assist us, but being our first time in, we opted for a kiosk, off to the right side, with a big and equally bright screen, displaying images of every dish. This was very helpful and made the ordering easy and quick, even for us newbies to the place.
We opted to take out. Already, in the car, the aroma of delicious food filled the air. Once at our place, we started opening the containers and wrappers, even the packaging was excellent, inside the plastic bag, a heavy-duty paper back, stapled to containers to prevent shifting and spilling during transport.
The food was utterly delicious, from simple salad, tzatziki sauce (some of the best I have tried anywhere), chickpeas, seasoned fries, shawarmas and kabob.
It would be 2 thumbs up but both my hands were busy.“

“We had never tried Afghani food before, and I am so glad we did. The staff was so friendly and helpful with any questions we had. They recommended the Mini Taste of Arocostia for our first time. Everything was FANTASTIC!!! The food was cooked perfectly. The service was great! We never had to ask to have our beverages filled up, because they were already on top of it before we had to ask. They packed all our leftovers into boxes for us for our way home. We will definitely be going back!“

“I know some people have seen this on ticktock or Instagram, but it doesn't give this place justice. Any size bag of chips can get filled with everything on the menu. Rice, fries, pico, cheese, lamb, beef, and chicken. The pita pouch is fantastic. Can't wait to go back and get the loaded fries!“

Their consistency is actually really impressive - I’ve never been disappointed by a single thing, and I’ve eaten A LOT of their food. But everything is so good, so I haven’t really made my way outside of the same few items from their menu. “This place is a hidden gem! Absolutely fell in love with their smash burgers. The flavor profiles all come together so well. The burgers are so well made. You can taste the quality and service is great as well. The owner is super attentive and puts out a fantastic product. They have seating for a few people inside and a couple of tables right outside the storefront.“

Service was quick even during lunchtime rush. I usually go to the “Halal guys” down the street, but will definitely swap over to Shah’s.

I can’t wait to go back to try their chicken and waffles!

Parking: If there is no parking immediately around the building, there is usually some just behind the building. This site used to be a Dunkin’ Donuts and the lot was always full. Sometimes disconcerting to maneuver around because it was so tight.
Shah’s did a great job cleaning up some of that parking madness.“

“Found this place while watching Peaks100 wife. She did not disappoint! This popular hole in the wall joint was pressure. My son and I ordered our food to go since the place was crowded but we ended up eating the food in the car because it smelled so good. We both ordered the OKC burger with the combo. At first I was complaining about the extra $5 for the combo given that you receive a can soda. But once my food was ready I stopped immediately. They give you so many freshly cut fries it’s worth the extra $5 for sure. The burger was fresh, seasoned well and the sauce was everything! We woke up the next day thinking we should drive back which was around 45 minutes from where we live. I would definitely return. Sorry no pictures this review. We ate in the car so I didn’t have any free hands to take a pic. You should definitely try this though. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥“

“The best Chinese takeout in the area. Not the place for you if you’re looking for greasy salty saucy food. I’m 50+ and had to stop eating from nearby spots due to health. My lady lets me eat here I do not feel woozy night of or next morning after eating. Keep it up folks!

Dined in with my family and saw they added gelato now. I chuckled seeing a Chinese spot offering artisanal ice cream but thought it was really nice! They have guava, mango, coconut (which I got and was REALLY GOOD) and passionfruit and lucuma. Very densely packed for under $5 a pop. Something about a place having ice cream just brightens everything up.“

I would go back. However, I would say The Halal Guys are comparable to the Little Ceasars or Domino's of their place in the industry. If you want to play it safe with a commercialized version of Halal food, then this is it. Please don't take that as a negative, Little Ceasars has its place in the market & it's time for when necessary, and so does The Halal Guys.“
