The gentleman behind the counter handled the situation so well. He turned our day around and wouldn’t even take payment for our food. I go back now as much as I’m in the area, and it’s consistently wonderful. The food is delicious. Despite being attached to the busy mall, it’s always clean and accommodating. The staff is friendly and has a welcoming attitude that makes it feel like a standalone restaurant where you can sit and linger a bit. Thank you for your kindness. “I recently visited this restaurant and it was an amazing experience the manaesh was fresh flavorful and baked perfectly soft inside with a delicious crispy edge. The Mediterranean dishes were also excellent especially the hummus falafel and grilled meats Everything tasted homemade and authentic

“I came here today to try their new jerk chicken. The young man behind the counter was very nice and friendly.

I ordered the big platter with fries. Portions are very generous.

The jerk chicken is interesting. It’s sweet at first and then has a kick at the end. It’s good, the rice was delicious and so were the fries. Def worth it!

Also the guy at the counter was very nice and gave me 2 drinks on the house.“

“I love a good chicken sandwich and this one is halal so I was extra excited to try this place! Red bird is located in the shopping between a nail salon and hair salon. There are 6 tables, each seating four guests. The cashier was very polite, assisting me with my choices and helping me understand heat levels. The chicken sandwich is on a yummy bun (potato bun?) dressed with a crunchy veggie slaw which is really good. It's not as spicy as Hangry Joe's (where you have to sign a waiver to order the hottest level) so feel free to lean into the spice!“

The food was excellent. Fish was fresh and well fried.
Rice was very flavourful, meat tender and sauces were worth trying.

“We had never tried Afghani food before, and I am so glad we did. The staff was so friendly and helpful with any questions we had. They recommended the Mini Taste of Arocostia for our first time. Everything was FANTASTIC!!! The food was cooked perfectly. The service was great! We never had to ask to have our beverages filled up, because they were already on top of it before we had to ask. They packed all our leftovers into boxes for us for our way home. We will definitely be going back!“

The difference is that the staff actually care about their customers, and take pride in their food. It’s not so common these days, and is a pleasant surprise. “Delicious smash burgers and shakes! Got the classic (as a lettuce wrap) and the jalepeno with oreo milkshake and cheese fries. The fries come unseasoned - but they have a seasoning station to add it yourself - always measure with your heart!
If you want the fries I recommend just getting the regular fries.“

“I really like the Chicken platter with white and Blazin sauce. Portion size is pretty big and always stuffed afterwards. I started replacing the fries on the plate with more salad instead as it’s refreshing.

Seating can be lacking as there’s only 5 tables and bar stools.“

Stopped by last night and had a great experience. This is a family-run halal spot and you can really feel the hospitality when you walk in. The owners are very friendly and welcoming, and the service was great. The food was fresh, flavorful, and came out quickly.

“My son and I stopped in while we were Christmas shopping and found the food EXCELLENT! My son ordered a combination of lamb and beef swcharma burrito, with Jalapeno hummus, onion, corn. lettuce, and mango salsa. The buritto was large enough for my son and I to share and the french fries were perfect.
The fries were hot with the perfect amount of salt and the Schwarma sauce was perfect for both the burrito and dipping the fries in. We will definately return if not to the Springfield Mall location (where we ate) we'll go to the location in Potomac Mills Mall. Again EXCELLANT and at a reasonble price.“

“These are my Afghans so I don’t wanna ruin their reputation. But just giving my personal review. I have been to this restaurant 3-4 times now. Previous visits was good so kept coming. But my most recent visit they got one of the orders wrong so they had to send it back. Took too long. We almost cancel that one because everyone else was almost finished with their food and the food didn’t come almost 30-40 minutes. Also, this time I found a little bit of hair and I just wanted to inform them about it and they didn’t seem to apologize or offer a new plate or anything. They just said all of our people wear head coverings when I brought up that I found hair. From then on out, I lost my appetite. I usually order the ice cream as well, but my appetite was ruined.“

I was really having a bad day, so this energy really made me excited to be there and eat. Ordering with the little gigglemug boy Ikram really made me a happy cabbage. It was just the pang-wangle I need to brighten my day. I ordered a number 3 with medium spice, and might I tell you it was delightful, dare I say near perfection. This is all thanks to my little kadoova Ikram, he really did it special, even going out of his way to advertise me a special drink called a flash in fruit punch slushy. For this hot day, it really hit the spot. This experience at Dave’s was just a 10/10. The food and service was just amazing. Ikram was simply the bee’s knees, the cherry on top for this experience.to have such another amazing experience at a take out restaurant, it would compare to herding cats! “This was my first experience with this type of food, and it was good! Very filling, the single protein platter was more than I could eat in one sitting, and I'm a rather large eater. I would go back. However, I would say The Halal Guys are comparable to the Little Ceasars or Domino's of their place in the industry. If you want to play it safe with a commercialized version of Halal food, then this is it. Please don't take that as a negative, Little Ceasars has its place in the market & it's time for when necessary, and so does The Halal Guys.“

“I came to Arlington for a business trip from Atlanta. I've been to the Ballston Food Court several times since I visit frequently. First time at Hal & Als and I ordered the brisket sandwich. the cashier who I assume is the owner was telling me about who he learned to make ribs from down in Atlanta. he was so hospitable too. he asked me to let him know what I thought. I completely forgot. everything was great. halal BBQ is a little different but it blew me away. I'll def revisit when I'm in Arlington again.“

Location is clean, bright and inviting. Staff is friendly, helpful and chill. I got the 18 pc today, never had it. It’s the saucy chicken. Flavors I got were: Mike’s Hot Honey, Spicy Buffalo and Spicy BBQ. The hot honey tasted abysmal, I didn’t like it whatsoever but since it’s part of my total order I covered it in sauce and ate it but I will never go for that again. Either change the recipe (suggestion) or remove it but everything else was tasty. I normally get other menu items but I generally recommend Dave’s“
