“This place is a true local gem. Food is of very high quality, and everything is consistently cooked to perfection. Their consistency is actually really impressive - I’ve never been disappointed by a single thing, and I’ve eaten A LOT of their food. But everything is so good, so I haven’t really made my way outside of the same few items from their menu. The difference is that the staff actually care about their customers, and take pride in their food. It’s not so common these days, and is a pleasant surprise. “I love this restaurant. Everything about it from the service to the environment and especially the delicious food is incredible. It helps to either have reservations or selecting a time that isn’t as busy because it’s so popular. My family and I have been eating there for over a year and been back many times. We love the bada bing shrimp for our appetizer. And my favorite personal entrée is the spicy seafood. Here’s a picture of it with a wide ribbon noodle maybeI weither tagliatelle or papardele. Absolutely loved this place! From the moment we walked in, the vibe was warm, inviting, and super fun — perfect for both family gatherings and catching up with friends. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, walking us through the menu and making sure we had everything we needed.

The shabu shabu was top-notch — fresh ingredients, high-quality meats, and rich, flavorful broths. They had a great selection of veggies, sauces, and dipping options that let everyone at the table customize their meal just the way they liked it. We especially loved the wagyu and the spicy miso broth — so good!

The restaurant was clean, well-lit, and had a great energy without being too loud. Plenty of space for groups, and the table setup made it really easy to enjoy the cooking experience together.

“In recent years there seems to be a proliferation of small-plate Mediterranean restaurants. But Yayla remains as one of the best, reasonably priced originals in northern Virginia. There is a pleasing range of mezzes, salads, entrees hot and cold, flat breads, spreads, etc . I had a Yayla mule, 3 spreads, lemony rice soup and superb shrimp. Friends chose a range of other dishes. I can guarantee whatever you choose, you won’t be disappointed. Everything is flavorful, fresh and beautifully presented. Wait staff and servers are friendly, attentive, knowledgeable and not obtrusive. Don’t miss the nice selection of creative cocktails, wine variety and desserts. “Awesome salads“

“Sat at the sushi bar, so had dinner and a show. The show was good, the dinner was great. Yume is in an interesting space, open with lots of windows, a high ceiling, and very high energy, read LOUD. This is not your sedate, high-end, reverent sushi restaurant, but a vibrant lively place, which doesn't mean the sushi is in any way inferior. Even at the sushi bar the ordering is through a waitress/waiter not directly with the sushi chefs. That was a slight disappointment, having no interaction with the chefs, but perhaps to be expected with the size of the crowd that was there on Friday night. We ordered in stages because, this being the first time, we did not know how much would be enough. In the end what we ordered was just right. The service was paced just right, never rushed but available when needed. The baby octopus salad was bright and citrusy, and slightly chewy, in a good way. The simple nigiri in the Sushi Dinner, 10 pieces, were very fresh and tasty. The special nigiri we had, Otoro, was imaginative and excellent - wasabi and truffle make a great pairing and the bit of caviar was just the right touch. The Yume roll was top flight, spicy but, to coin a phrase, not too spicy, and the fish did shine through. We will definitely be going back.“

“Amazing place. Treat you like family. Hüseyin is usually in front (super generous and friendly) along with his dad or another staffer, and I think his mom makes the pastries herself through a delicate time-consuming process. Of course have the strong Turkish coffee, no milk or sugar! Not sure if they still do but at some point a small Turkish coffee came for free with your meal.

Note: the dish usually comes with a more appetizing looking cream; it was added after this photo (and to his credit he remembered right after someone else served it, happens!)

Also, once I asked Hüseyin about a lemon based Turkish hand sanitizer and he just gave it to me. Good guy.“

“Decided to try mae ornnit with my sister based on the strong reviews they have. Our server provided excellent, attentive service from start to finish. Mixed reviews on the food: Papaya salad was a downer. Lacks that nice flavor with fish sauce and papaya slices were sliced a bit too thick. Tom kha gai and chicken wonton soups were a winner. Lovely coconut milk flavor for tom kha soup. Fried tofu was pretty decent. The sweet and sour sauce for crispy flounder rocked, but I was expecting a slightly fresher flounder than what we had. Overall a pretty nice experience and we may return if we pass by the area again.“

Plus I give them extra brownie points because the group I was with showed up a little close to closing time and the staff remained super friendly!“

“Clifton Cafe is our new favorite evening spot on the weekends. We’ve been customers since the original owners opened it years ago, but until this past fall we did more to go orders than dine in since the service and time to prep food was often slow and unpredictable. Now we go almost every week. We’ve noticed big improvements since they expanded their kitchen and redesigned the bar area. Their new pull up bar is beautiful and spacious. The new owners and management are great too! We love the evening staff as well, especially Ian and Nicole. They are very personable, accommodating, and attentive. They have great happy hour specials from 3-6 and make the best margaritas and espresso martinis. Some of our favorite dinner items include the crab dip, Mediterranean salad, cuban sandwich, burgers, crab cakes, quiche specials, banana pudding, and too many crepes to name! We also appreciate that they have become more family friendly. We had a last minute party of 14 on a Friday evening (half of which were children ages 1-11) and they didn’t hesitate to pull some tables together in a private nook to accommodate our large group (again thanks to Ian and Nicole). We noticed they finally got a changing table in the large bathroom, which they are about to install. Our kids are past that stage, but there were several times when they were little that a changing table would have been helpful.“
