“You know immediately when you have made the right choice! When planning a wedding, that is the key to all the pieces falling together in perfect synchronicity. As any bride and her parents know, planning from out of state can be a daunting task, but luckily, that was not the case for us. From the moment my daughter and I toured Old Trail Golf Club & Restoration, we knew we had found the ideal location. The outdoor ceremony space—with its breathtaking mountain backdrop, white guest chairs, and matching white arbor—set the stage for pure magic. The indoor dining room was the perfect size for our 100 guests, featuring a formal look and floor-to-ceiling windows on three sides that framed those gorgeous views. If that wasn't enough to sell us, the outdoor patio and tented area offered even more of those stunning mountain panoramas. Dancing under the stars has truly never looked so appealing!

Krista, the Director of Events was an absolute godsend, working flawlessly throughout the entire process alongside us and our wedding planner. She was incredibly accommodating, quick to respond to every question, and even stepped in with fantastic vendor suggestions when we hit a snag securing one. In particular, her recommendation of our officiant, Kayla Allen, was a home run. Kayla’s warm, friendly personality made everyone feel as though she was a lifelong family friend, rather than someone we had only spoken with a few times over the phone.

Beyond the stunning location and phenomenal staff, the food was fabulous. Unlike many venues in Virginia, Old Trail includes everything you need - meaning no running around renting and returning dining tables, linens, dishes, glasses, silverware, or chairs. Having the restaurant on-site was a massive factor in our decision, and the chef created the most delicious appetizers and a buffet that was absolute perfection.

“DO NOT miss the Smoked Kitchen. During a recent "leaf peeping" drive from Richmond, we visited Crozet in time for lunch. First, the location is easy to find and easy to park. Second, they welcome dogs. (A real plus.) But MOST IMPORTANTLY the the food is top notch and the service can't be beat. The pulled pork is the best we've EVER eaten. (I don't use CAPS very often.) Speaking as Virginia/North Carolina customers, that's quite a statement. It's dry, lean and melt in your mouth. Plenty of sauces to choose from if you wish. Absolutely terrific. We bought A POUND to take home. No kidding. The smoked chicken salad sandwich was excellent. And the beer - well, what a nice addition to a great meal.“

“we love mudhouse!!! the service is always top notch (we love you jacob). i’ve been three times and it’s always so delicious. if i lived in crozet, i would definitely camp out in this cozy cafe! tons of seating, beautiful natural light, some toys for kids, and even a stage (i assume they do live music and whatnot, but have not been there during that specifically). they have house made syrups and yummy-looking treats, but i’m not sure if those are house made or not! as a sweet drink gal, i would prefer the syrups to be sweeter. they have beautiful artwork from local high school students for purchase as well. parking is easy peasy. it is a bit pricey and i wish they offered a larger coffee option! you get what you pay for though, great vibes and coffee alike! did i mention jacob? he seriously was great! charming, efficient, and overall welcoming. jacob for president and mudhouse for town hall!“

“Standard mexcian restaurant. You get a lot of food for the price & the staff is very friendly! The tortilla chips seem homemade, but not salted, so they're very bland. The salsa that comes with is a tad too spicy. We all enjoyed the dinner & had leftovers. The glasses that soda & water come in are really neat. Their high chairs are very good quality too. I didn't like how large the forks are tho. They seem like serving forks & are hard to eat off of.
