“I'm not sure why, but we were treated to breakfast here today by the staff.. Thanks for a bright spot in our day. The food was delicious! I wanted to take home some extra biscuits. This was our first visit, be sure that we will return the next time we are in town. This is the Virginia that I miss.“

“We were roadtripping on 95 and needed a place to stop for snacks so we selected Foode and Mercantile. What a very pleasant surprise. After winding through a tree lined road boarding the river, we found the restaurant in quaint downtown Fredericksburg, VA. We each ordered bourbon based drinks, coffee, tea and Smoked Salmon, Quiche and a gingerbread scone! It was delicious! They quickly fixed what was a smaller than normal portion of salmon and kept coffee and water glasses full without asking. Very nice spot! Fresh cooked to order food with great service! It was a 4.7 experience. Visit and enjoy!“

“Today, on this dreary Thanksgiving morning, I met a sweet old lady that was at this location to pick up her order that she placed in person. She said she tried to call several times and this location never picked up so she wasn’t sure if they were open. She was understandably a little perturbed. While she waited, we conversed about her husband, who passed within the last year, and their time overseas as a military family. The manager brought out her order, thanked her for her patience and told her, “It’s been taken care of.” It was such a kind gesture and took the old lady by surprise. It was outstanding service and such a kind act! The manager relayed to me, when I expressed my admiration for the kind gesture, that she and her staff are affected by those customers that have not been to the location (in a while) due to a partner’s passing. So it is her hope that she will be inspired (by this gesture) to come by more often. In addition to this kind gesture, my food was great! Omelette was on point, pancakes were fluffy and delicious. I would highly recommend this warm atmosphere, kind service providers and tasty food!“

“Restaurant felt very dated but maybe cleaner that it appeared. Our server was attentive. The food was warm. Coffee so-so. Why do they out pancakes in the smallest plate possible?? Menu has lots of options. Pancakes were good and the omelettes were very stuffed with goodness.“
