“I’ve eaten at Izumi many times; the sushi is reliably good … 4 stars for the sushi. Unfortunately the Chinese is reliably awful. We’ve tried it several times and it’s just not worth risking again … I wish it wasn’t so, but zero stars for the Chinese.“

Also highly recommend the walu with wasabi pickle, spicy tuna roll, house roll, hamachi belly, mushroom miso soup. The staff are wonderful, too. It’s a small spot, but two people can still get a seat without a reservation.“

Miso soup ✅ A classic, hard to mess up, but I really liked that it had many tofu & seaweed pieces.

The atmosphere is great, you can watch the Chef's prepare your rolls fresh behind the bar. The service was phenomenal and the prices very reasonable. I'll definitely be back to try more items on the menu.“

The creativity behind the sauces truly sets this place apart, and I even heard the chef makes his own soy sauce—which absolutely shows in the depth of flavor. The Japanese uni was beautifully presented, and the tuna was a deep, rich red that melted in my mouth, finished perfectly with a delicate sprinkle of truffle oil. Every bite felt intentional and expertly crafted. I only wish I lived closer—this would easily be my daily go-to restaurant.“

“The food was better than I expected. I didn’t want to get my hopes up after being disappointed by Japanese food in this area before, but this place was a pleasant surprise. The California roll was simple but very good, the eel sushi was tasty, and the salmon was fresh. The shrimp tempura rice was also quite good. I’ll probably become a regular here. Sushi very good price.

The only downside is that dine-in isn’t available yet and it’s pick-up only for now.“

“We came here on a cold windy night and the shabu shabu hit the spot! The staff were very friendly and helpful as they explained and showed us what to do. We ordered prime rib, pork, and shrimp as the proteins. I had a tonkotsu + tomato broth and my husband had the spicy miso + tonkatsu broth. Everything was very fresh and flavorful. We’ll be returning for sure. I recommend California Shabu Shabu!“
