“We had Alex our first time visiting (for the weekend) and she was amazing! The dish that she recommended was the prime filet and Mac and cheese and it was to DIE FOR!! She asked if my boyfriend and I were celebrating anything and it was our anniversary so she made it feel special with this chocolate decoration! She was very exceptional!

Our second time visiting we had Travis! Even though we were outside he made it feel like my boyfriend and I were in an intimate setting and it was just the 2 of us in the restaurant!

Thank you both for making this weekend unforgettable!“

“I recently dined at Sam Snead Tavern and had an outstanding experience. The highlight of my meal was the Grilled Pork Chop, which was cooked to perfection – juicy, flavorful, and tender, with just the right amount of seasoning. Paired with a side of crisp, perfectly grilled asparagus, it was a simple yet elegant dish that really hit the spot.

The atmosphere at Sam Snead Tavern was equally impressive. It had a warm, inviting feel, with a relaxed vibe that made it easy to enjoy the meal and unwind. The service was attentive but not intrusive, adding to the overall pleasant experience.

I highly recommend Sam Snead Tavern, whether you're looking for a casual meal or something a bit more special. I’ll definitely be returning!“

Rubino’s at The Cascades American • $$
3977 Sam Snead Hwy, Hot Springs

“The food we received here was good, but I thought it odd that they did not have enough desserts to feed our whole group, even though we had pre-ordered. Hearing it announced, "Does anyone want to share there cheesecake, as we need 12 and we only have 11. Or we have vanilla ice cream" kind of put a damper on the experience. The building is historic, and interesting, though, and the staff was pleasant.“

“I noticed that no one posted about their afternoon tea yet, so I’m here for your service. You have to call in advance to book a table. The tea service starts at 3 PM (you cannot choose to start at any other time). It’s $55/adult.

Once you stepped in, the servers will take good care of you from start to finish. There’s only one menu with 6 options of tea to choose from. All but one item is vegetarian. So, even if this menu isn’t marked as vegetarian, it is pretty vegetarian friendly. There is a live piano playing as you have the tea. Most songs are kid friendly. You should note too that most tables have children with them.

Kid-friendliness: Most people come here with their kids. The staffs seem very well-equipped to handle children.“

“Our dinner was absolutely delicious! The only reason I gave 4 out of 5 stars for the service is because our server was very forgetful and we had to remind her multiple times about different items we have ordered. She was very cheerful and friendly otherwise ? We will definitely come to Jefferson's restaurant again.“

“We ate dinner there last night and stayed in the Silo. All we can say is, "Wow!" The trout was out of this world, definitely highlight of our trip. Wish we ate there both nights of our getaway. Our dinner down the road was not nearly as amazing. Set the bar very high. We will just come back to the area to eat dinner here.“

Douthat Lakeview Camp Store and Grill American • $$
Douthat State Park Rd, Clifton Forge - 6.81 miles

“We stopped at Douthat State Park for a hike with our dog while driving north to West Virginia. We did a loop hike including Blue Suck Falls, Tuscarora Overlook and Stony Run Falls, about 9 miles total. I was warned the waterfalls weren't much to get excited about, but the water level was high and I thought they were pretty nice. There were a lot of beautiful wildflowers blooming along the trail. The highlight was Tuscarora Overlook with fantastic views looking down over the park. There is also an historic old CCC cabin at the overlook. The loop had a decent amount of uphill but with switchbacks, it wasn't too bad. Overall, a great park for hiking and would like to return to explore more of the trails.“
